"Outright Thieves I ordered a flash unit and when I recieved the bill there was an extra 4100.00 added on to the bill for no reason. Upon calling to question this I was hung up on several times. According to some other websites their own people leave positive reviews especially on a site callled Pricing Depot. It seems they also do business under other names and web addresses. For a list of these see this website
"I should have looked at this website before falling victim to sonic cameras. BAIT AND SWITCH! I ordered a Nikon flash but received some knock-off brand that elsewhere sells for about half of what I paid. And I learned some new words from their "customer service" representative. Rude, obnoxious, yelled and explecatives! Said that "just because you didn't get what you ordered if no reason to complain to us ... it's you fault." Still trying to figure that one out. Hope they soon go out of business."
"NIGHTMARE!!!I have made several purchases via the internet with great satisfaction, until dealing with Sonic Cameras. Fast talking jerks managed to talk my husband into a Sigma lens that he did not want when he originally ordered a Canon lens. We tried to cancel this order and was told it had already shipped. They charged outrageous "insurance" rates, what a crock. The whole ordeal was pathetic, I'm sorry we fell for it. We are not normally so gullible, but there's a first time for everything. My husband called to return the lens and the "customer service rep" was a satanic pig! I have never seen my husband so outraged! He was told there was a 15% restocking fee and since my husband lost his temper with the creep, he was told that "New York law" says they could charge up to 40%, with that one my husband hung up. Since then I have read the reviews-BAD!I canceled the debit card and we decided to keep the Sigma lens only because we were afraid when they received it back that they would not credit the debit card and then we would not have a lens and still be out our $477.00. Chalk this one up to a lesson learned. From now on we'll stick to the sites that are familiar with or check through resellerratings.com I am tempted to call their 800 number and read them all their "rave reviews" including the report from the BBB and the lawsuit from NJ. "
"Why didn't I find this site before ordering from this store? I called them this morning to confirm my order and was "upsold" by Nick. Told me that the lens I saw online was a 35MM online and not EF which is what I needed for my Canon camera. Went ahead and got the new lens that was just in a few weeks ago. Said they are the only ones that have it and it won't be available in the US for another 3-6 months. Told him ok since price was the same basically ($29 more). Then I got a bad feeling and called him back about 20 minutes later. Told him to cancel my order please and he said that he couldn't as it was already processed. I would have to pay a 10 percent restocking fee and the lens wasn't even shipped yet! I am so pissed off. What can I do? Can I refuse the delivery (he said I can't because I need a Return order number to return for credit minus the restock of about $100)? Can I return the lens and then dispute the restocking fee with my CC company? Has anyone had any luck winning these type issues with Sonic?"
"Oh my! I have never been treated like this before. I could not believe my ears when dealing with the "customer service" or sales associate. I hear there is a camera company out there that conducts business like this and has to change their name every so often. Hope they catch them soon. I spoke with a Jason, Adam and a Bobby. ALL of them where extremely rude. I am sick to my stomach over their treatment of me and how they conduct business. I ordered a lens on line. They called to confirm and tried to convince me to purchase a much more expensive lens. I refused but the sales person continued his sales pitch as if not hearing my voice. I again told him I wanted my origianl order, he told me their standard return policy would not be in effect for that lens purchase and I would be safer ordering this other lens. Somehow he changed my mind and I ordered another lense. When I recieved it yesterday (with no shipping delay) I was discusted with the lens. It was not what I thought I had ordered over the phone. I tried to get a return authoization number and was on the phone for over 50 minutes. The conversation elevated on there end which in turn I felt like a victim. I was amazed that a company of any sort would talk to a customer this way. He turned the conversation around and made comments like, "watch what you say" "you want to threaten me? Im going to make this as tough as possible for you" I asked if these conversations were recorded and he said "only the ones that are convienent for us." I was speachless, literally. Never have I been treated this disgustingly. In the end they would not give me a number so I could return the item. Even though I was going to pay for shipping and the 33% restocking fee. Those people who think they got a good deal on something and that it is a great product are taking Sonic Cameras word for it. Talk to professional photographers and you will learn they are shipping crap. Im going to end up losing money on this deal. More people are going to fall victim like me. I wish there was more I could do than just reporting them. Too bad we dont check out companies before we make our purchase. I learned the hard way and many more will have to do the same."
"Sonic Cameras employees are a bunch of crooks. Luis, extension 222, tried the same BS described by others here. $499 for Nikon 18mm-200mm? Sounds like a great deal to me, so great I decided to order two. Only problem is the item is "backordered" for 6-8 weeks. I was informed of this after calling to confirm my order - same routine. Then Luis tried to convince me the lens was no good for the Nikon D80 because of the conversion factor (1.6). Now, I'm a beginner - so I was concerned, but I used this camera with this lens, have a friend who takes phenomenal shots with this setup, and have read nothing but great reviews of the D80/Nikkor 18mm-200mm setup, so I was unconvinced that the "conversion factor" would produce poor results. But I listened and asked what he would recommend. Luis proceeded to recommend a Sigma and other lenses that were moderately to significantly more $$$.
I told him, eh - nah, just send me what I ordered originally, I'll be happy with the results. He snidely asked if I REALLY wanted to purchase a lens with a conversion factor?? I said, um, yes, next day air please.
Of course, guess what? He immediately proceeded to tell me he is showing that lens is out of stock currently.
Anyone up for suing this company for false advertisement and bait and switch tactics? They are crooks, thieves, and unscrupulous.
STAY AWAY FROM SONIC CAMERAS!!
GARBAGE COMPANY WITH UNETHICAL AND DOWNRIGHT ILLEGAL PRACTICES!! I AM ANGRIER AT THIS EXPERIENCE NOW THAT I READ HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE WERE OUT RIGHT RIPPED OFF!!
"Sonic Cameras is my worst experience on the web so far. I had to contact BBB in New York to get my refund after much arguing with the company manager, Bill. They charged me 399 bucks for an item that cost 50 other places. They have you call them so they can see how shop smart you are, and then they trick you into buying a lousier item for more money.
I was left back with the bill of returning everything with insurance. So, no stuff, just an expense and an experience I would have loved to be without. Crooks in my books. It is hard to believe these guys are still in business after all these reviews and their poor seller ratings. We need to get the word out about resellerratings.com. We need to bust these people red handed. I like the idea of ordering a lot one day and give them a total false CC number. So, when they try to charge, they have to put everything back on the shelves. HMPF."

"DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE!!! They are another site that uses the bait and switch technique. Do not be fooled. I have reported them to the BBB of NYC."
"Soniccameras.com is an online store for camera and video equipment. This company is so outrageous in their illegal tactics that I thought it best to put as much information out there on them as was possible. Thousands of people have been scammed and if you google them "sonic camera" you will find page after page of boards, forums, blogs with major complaints against this company. It is believed that this is one of many online scam camera/video companies operating by one organization. Beware: If the price of a camera or lens sounds too good too be true, then you are about to be scammed. The following are only a few of the sites with major complaints against www.soniccameras.com. You should read a few of these before you even think of doing business with this online scam operation: http://www.soniccameras.com/ http://www.soniccamerassuck.com/Welcome.html http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Sonic_Cameras - 221 NEGATIVE COMMENTS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINTS. BAIT AND SWITCH, CHARGING THE CREDIT CARD, etc. http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/sonic-cameras http://www.ripoffreport.com/ http://www.newyork.bbb.org/ "This business has an unsatisfactory record with the BBB" From Resellersratings.com -"DO NOT BUY HERE! Bait and switch... the guys you talk to are horribly rude, and actually berate you! " "They are tricksters, scammers, liars, cheaters" "Like all of the other reviewers, I was appalled at the rude unprofessional behavior." "Horrible customer service. Classic bait and switch. Charge you for items that aren't in stock. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID" "I really hope there is a better way to forewarn consumers before they get caught up in their advertised low online prices. I just reported these guys to the Federal Trade Commission and Better Business Bureau for fraud. I had to cancel my credit card." AMAZON.COM won't list their items because of the known problems with this company. In Amazon's DIGITAL CAMERA FORUM, there are 55 negative posts about SonicCamera.com. Same song and dance. When I contracted directly several of the major camera/lens manufacturers, I was told point blank that they were aware of this company, did NOT provide them with their products and did not know where they were getting their products. Others who have been scammed believe that many of these products are Grey products, meant for sale outside the US. Hence, you don't get what should work for your US-specific equipment. Others who have been scammed, myself included, believe they are getting their equipment from China and the stuff is just junk. Plastic where the parts would be metal, poor quality when it works, etc. They also fake their own ratings and reviews online.Conclusive Proof that Sonic Cameras is Manipulating ResellerRatings http://thoughts-of-dave.blogspot.com/2008/03/conclusive-proof-that-sonic-cameras-is.html"The wonderful crew from Sonic Cameras have been planting fake positive reviews on resellerratings, pushing their rating up to a still-crappy 3.08. All of the positive reviews are from people that registered the very day they wrote the review. Theyve been sloppy though, simply cutting and pasting from positive reviews of legitimate ecommerce sites." WHAT YOU SHOUD DO IF YOU HAVE BEEN SCAMMED BY SONIC CAMERA. The best that can be done is to file complaints everywhere you can think of but first with Federal Government organizations whose job it is to protect the consumer and the use of the Internet: 1) FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3)www.fbi.gov / http://www.ic3.gov/: 2) Federal Trade Commission (Nation's Consumer Protection) https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ 3) NY Better Business Burea http://www.newyork.bbb.org/ and YOUR OWN state's BBB. 4) Submit complaints, open a DISPUTE with your credit card company, or cancel your credit card IF you got caught in the Sonic Camera trap. There are resports that they have used the credit cards of people months later. That's CREDIT CARD THEFT. 5) Continue to call them and FIGHT THEM. They will curse you out, call you names, threaten you, etc. It's unbelievable what these people will say to you but DO NOT LET THAT STOP YOU. You are NOT dealing with decent business people with SonicCameras.com. Rather, you are dealing with SCUM and theives of the worst order. So, CURSE BACK AT THEM. THREATEN THEM AND THEN MAKE GOOD ON YOUR THREATS. ====STAY AWAY FROM WWW.SONICCAMERAS.COM===== "
"My parents told me to pick out a lens they would buy me as a Christmas gift. I found the one I was looking for (a Canon IS 70-300 F4.0-5.6) at a very low price on Sonic Camera's Web site. Sonic claimed to be selling the lens for $369, while other camera stores were selling it for $500-$600. It looked like a great deal and it explained itself by claiming an end-of-the-year sale. On Dec. 29 I received an email asking me to call to confirm my order, which I did reluctantly, realizing they were going to try and upsell me. The man who eventually answered transferred me to his "supervisor" who sounded like the same man. He then tried to sell me filters for my lens and also tried to convince me that what I really wanted was a Sigma lens that I know sells for around $150. When I refused he ended the call abruptly. On Dec. 30, I received an email claiming the item was back-ordered and that my order had been canceled. Do not use Sonic Camera. They post fake prices on good equipment, then try to trick you into buying cheap stuff at jacked-up prices. Avoid at all costs because you simply won't get what you want."
