"Terrible customer service and follow through. I ordered a product in December that said usually ships in 1-2 days. This product was for a house re-model and was needed to complete the job. March 14th and still no response on the ship date. Charged my card instantly over $1,000 and still no product. How many phone calls, transfers etc. and all they can say is they have it shipped "from the mfg" and they have no control!!! Nonetheless, 3 months later and it is still on their site saying ships in 1-2 days!!!!!!!

So frustrated - first review of any online site..."

" A major sales calling center scam. They will tell you anything to get you to buy from them. They will tell you product has been sent when it has not. I have not seen any of this order and I cannot get anyone at smarthome to tell me anything about my order. They say that they have no control over the order."

"This is my second order with SmartHome and I have to say I am consistently disappointed.

I order a Vera2 server and 2 appliances modules. Seller has failed to communicate that the appliances modules was out-of-stock. And instead of sending out the Vera2 server first and informing the buyer regarding the backordered items, the whole order was on hold without communication, until I chased after an order status update. Then they sent out the Vera2 server and advised that back-ordered items are due on 23/Feb/2012. The date came and went and again no communication whatsoever. I emailed the seller again on 29/Jan/2012, but received no communication...finally received the back-ordered items on 10/Feb/2012.

Unfortunately, one of the appliance modules was defective. During operation it would generate a high-frequncy noise and from time to time switches off randomly. I notified the seller twice on this issue for a resolution. Guess what? No reply and no follow-up.

Think that this was bad? It is actually better than my first purchase experience in which only part of my order was shipped but full order cost was charged. Successive email communications was met with ZERO reply! At the end, I had to file a transaction dispute with my credit card company to get my money back!

My advise is, if possible, stay off from this seller! They are possibly one of the worst online sellers, in terms of customer service and follow-up I have came across. Truly disappointing! :( If it was not due to the fact that SmartHome is one of the few reseller of Z-wave product in Oz and the fact that these product operates on a specific radio-frequency, I'd have opted to purchase from another seller! Very sad! :( I wish they really look into improving their customer service!

However, if (you are like me) you're really forced to order from SmartHome, keep your order small to a single item. The company does not handle back-ordered items well w/ combined shipment and do not proactively ship items that are already in stock. They are very good at charging the buyer the full cost even though the items are not in stock and may take 1 to 2 months to get them in. They charge a lot on shipping cost as well compared to other sellers I have shopped...so you will never save in shipping when consolidating your order. Actually if you have ordered 2-3 items, you'd noticed that the combined shipping cost is a joke! You really have to laugh how uncompetitive their pricing and shipping costs are."

"If allowed I would give it "0" rating. Customer service is absolutely horrible! After placing the order on 1/4/2012, no tracking for a week, then provided fasle tracking, then no follow up after multiple inquires. It was a drip shipment. They blamed the other party that I have nothing to do with it. Finally talked to the manufacture directly on 1/19/2012 and found the item already delivered to a Fedex office on 1/10/2012. But it has been returned to the shipper. I have a roof contractor waiting for the items. What a mess. Will never ordered from this company!"

"Apparently Smarthome has "high call volume" all the time because there is never a good time to call without a 15min hold. Placed an order for a back ordered item that kept getting its in stock date pushed back so I cancelled. Customer service was rude. This was the first and last experience I will have with Smarthome."

"Very disappointed with their customer service. Said 1-2 day delivery. Now, they estimate 6 weeks to delivery and charged my credit card immediately. I understand mistakes can be made. But when I call to get my money back, the right thing to do would be to apologize and cancel my order and give me my money back for not being able to delivery as promised. Rather, after multiple calls they are still looking into it. No idea when I'm getting my money back. "

"Totally frustrating experience that is still unresolved. Terrible customer service. I ordered the iBus Wall-Dock Single Room System from Smarthome on 10/8/11. When I set it up the AO129 Keypad component was not working, but the other components were. I called the techs at the keypad manufacturer (Channel Vision) who suggested I return the keypad to Smarthome. I went through the Smarhome return process and they received it on 10/24, but it took them until 11/3 to acknowledge receipt of the return. Since then I have been involved in an extremely aggravating exchange of emails where Smarthome takes days to respond with answers like "it may be sitting in our group of problem RMAs" on 11/2 or "I've emailed both my supervisor and returns department..., stay tuned" on 11/3. They are spending weeks trying to figure out how to deal with the fact that I didn't return the entire system. The "system" is four seperate components that they throw in one box and ship to you. They already sell the keypad as a seperate item for about $30. I've asked them to send me a new key pad - problem solved, but they have yet to respond. They have not responded to my emails since 11/3 seeking a response. Smarthome staff are either completely incompetent or afraid to make simple problem solving decisions. Shop elsewhere."

"Smarthome is my favorite online store. Cool products, easy to use website and fair return policy. They have the best online prices - I have purchased & returned items and never had any issues. Highly recommend."

"Over the years we have purchased a great many Insteon products from Smarthome. I have to say that the Insteon design concept is really great -- our entire home runs on it -- but the failure rate is really very difficult to live with; devices cease working very frequently and, as if that wasn't bad enough, Smarthome refuses to stand behind these products... They simply will not exchange them. We are already commited to the Insteon array of products (eg. see order below) but, frankly, I wish that there was an alternative to Smarthome. "

We will be happy to look into this for you, however the order number you provided is an Amazon order number. Since this was not purchased directly with Smarthome, we will need additional information from you. All Smarthome branded products will be supported and issued a warranty replacement (if within the warranty period). A proof of purchase must be provided as the warranty states for products not purchased directly through Smarthome.

"HORRIBLE STORE - BEWARE! The item was listed on the website as "in stock". I ordered it, but the next day got an email saying it was backordered. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and waited until the day they said it would be shipped. On that day, I checked the site, and the date was moved even further out. I tried to cancel, and they wouldn't cancel EVEN THOUGH THE ITEM HADN'T SHIPPED YET. They told me it was a special order. Please know I'm not stupid, and I shop online frequently. At the point of purchase on the site, NOTHING on the site indicated it was non-returnable or special ordered. If there was any notification, it must have been in extremely fine print, because it sure wasn't obvious. It is my opinion that their advertised return policy to be fraudulent. I'm stuck with a crappy, crappy product that I tried to cancel prior to shipping. What kind of company does business that way? I will NEVER order from them again. Please be warned. Rip-offs!"
