Avoid. Claim that they have items in stock, but you will have to wait a month to get your order or it will be eventually cancelled for a bogus reason. And don't bother emailing their customer service you won't get a reply anyway.

I have to say that these guys run a class act. They really do care about customer satisfaction. There was a typo on the website for an IMAC indicating that the wireless keyboard, mouse were part of the package although the unit had the wired set pictured and listed in other areas of the description. They honored the advertising, as well as a price discount for the original package 7 days later. The focus was always on my satisfaction. I didn't think this type of service existed any longer in this era of price shopping and internet flexibility. I was a MacMall customer in the past, but will always order from SmallDog in the future. Plus, the little dog models they give you are a nice, classy touch.

Ordered a set of AudioEngline 5 speakers.  
 
One of the few companies out there that actually contacts you on the order status from the time you put an order through. Not only do they do that but the information they send you is through an address of an actual person and not just a generic address.  
 
From the time you order it, when they charge it, to when it's shipped... You're kept up to date on where your order is. Rare these days for sure to get that level of personal service especially from an online vendor.

I usually don't buy items from small online retailers. However, this was the only store ipod touch was available. This guys are very professional and easy to work with. They shipped my item same day I ordered and received next day. The product was excellent condition. I'll definitely buy from this seller again even though I am Linux geek!

Had one of the cheapest prices on the 'net for the Academic institution version of FileMaker Pro 8.5. The museum I work at in CT ordered a copy and received it exactly as described and shipping was fast. I will check them out in the future if I need Mac products or software.

I bought a refurbished Powerbook from Small Dog. The price was great - and so was the computer.  
 
I honestly couldn't tell that it was a refurb. Everything about it had the Apple "out-of-the-box" feeling. The folks at Small Dog made me a very happy customer.  
 
As a bonus, I rated an external firewire drive on their site (that I had the misfortune of purchasing from another vendor). I rated the drive poorly, because quite frankly it wasn't working very well for me. I was contacted by Small Dog customer service - they passed along to me a contact from the drive manufacturer. The manufacturer's rep was actually waiting for my e-mail and made things right with a replacement drive!  
 
Now that is customer service. The good folks at Small Dog made things right for an item I purchased from another vendor! I don't know how service can get any better than that.

Took almost 2 weeks for them to ship my product, when it said UPS 3-day on thier website. Apparently it wasn't in stock, although neither their website nor their emails to me made any mention of this fact. I was expecting to receive it within 3 days. Instead, it took 12.

over several years i have made many small purchases from SmallDog and always found them responsive to sales questions and problems, plus forthright in how they deal with customers; the buying experience clearly reflects that this is an ethically-based business which values more than just profits  
 
once i had ordered a computer from MacMall, but then got a notice from MacMall the order was cancelled due to lack of stock, so i ordered a similar item from SmallDog; then the next day the MacMall package was delivered anyway; the SmallDog rep was very understanding and friendly, even sympathetic, while cancelling my order without problem  
 
i've read several of the reviews here, and i don't see any that are obviously planted; SmallDog really does engender glowing reviews because it represents an ethical alternative in the marketplace

BUYER BEWARE, this company is planting reviews. I have noticed that many companies are doing this and wish the guys running this site would do something about it. Read the reviews and you will see obviously that the reviews are fakes.

I purchased a Wiebetech Traydock from Small Dog. Even though the Traydock is expensive, it is one of the few SATA drive enclosures with a firewire external interface.  
 
When the drive enclosure arrived, it was clearly used. (keep reading, there's a happy ending.) It had scratches on its metal case, gummy areas where adhesive rubber feet were previously attached and then removed, and a panel in the back was actually broken.  
 
I realize that companies do not open packages of every product to inspect the condition by hand before shipment. That would break the packaging's seal, introduce personnel costs, etc. But I do expect that companies are reasonable with their replacement policies when something does go wrong.  
 
In this case, Small Dog agreed to cross-ship a new drive dock to me and pay for shipping costs both ways. This was everything I could have hoped for. The replacement came quickly, and upon return of the defective/used item, my credit card was properly adjusted.  
 
The customer service rep was courteous, professional, and responsive. Small Dog, you're a Small God in my eyes. Kudos, and best wishes!

Superb buying experience - ibook, airport express, added memory, Applecare, printer. Small Dog rep (Tony) was very pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. Items arrived very propmtly and were packed well. Love browsing the Small Dog site and receiving weekly newsletters, which are always informative as well as humorous and offer some awesome deals! Would look for reasons to buy from Small Dog rather than big retailer! I would grade the experience a 10/10!

I participated in their iPod trade-in program to marvelous results. The turnaround was only a couple of days between recieving my old iPod and shipping out the new one. Communication in between was great. Questions were answered quickly, shipment notifications sent out. The new iPod arrived in marvelous condition and two small dog (ha!) figurines were even included in the package. The iPod and figurines are now sitting on my desk. I'll order from them again for sure.
