"I have debated writing this review after seeing so many bad reviews. I however had a more positive experience dealing with SkyPoint Digital than those that have published here. I was not aware of the hustle they put on their customers until I found this review site.
I purchased the Canon T1i Rebel with the Sigma lenses and yes like many others reported I was upsold on much more than I originally ordered. I wanted the Canon lenses however the gentleman sold me on the Sigma for more money. In hind sight I see what the deal was; I would have most likely been a customer with the "back order" issue had I not purchased what I did.
I must say though, I received excellent customer service when speaking to "Chris" and my camera arrived exactly when he said it would. I also bought a camera bag which is not listed on their website, the person told me I would be pleased with the bag and if not I could return it no questions asked. The bag came and it was a Vivitar Professional, he sold it to me for a very reasonablle price and he even paid the 3 day shipping.
I tried calling today to order another camera and unfortunately I ran into the backorder issue since I would not bite on the upgrade. I'd have to say the company plan is offer the cameras at a price they have no intention selling at and work on the upsale. I have no idea how many they actually sell but they truly have a golden opportunity to make a great business if they would just come clean.
I'd like to know if anybody has had any credit card information compromised after dealing with this company. I'm considering having my card changed, I just don't know how far they will go.
I really wanted to like thses guys, but I fear my dealings are done.

IN FAIRNESS THIS IS WHAT I KNOW TO BE TRUE:

The price I paid for my Canon Rebel T1i and accessories was more than fair.

The company did what they said they were going to do. I ordered on the 21st and my package was here on Christmas Eve and they paid the shipping.

Everything was "NEW", never opened and in perfect working order.

I received the entire package, no additional cost for charger, battery, software or cables, it was all there. (Thank GOD)

I was able to register everything with Canon and had no issues.

I did have issues with 2 salesmen until I spoke to "Chris", he said he was a manager and I suspect he was.

I was hung up on once and I was put on terminal hold as reported by others.

Today, 12-28-09 I tried to buy the EOS 50D and was unsuccessful.

Please feel free to ask questions or contribute to my post.

"All of the above comments are right on the nose. They lied through there teeth to get me to buy extras. I told them I was refusing the UPS package and they want to charge a 10% restocking fee for a 1400.00 dollar sale. I never will have possession of the order and they would do this??!!! I learned the hard way. "

"YIKES, wish that I had found this sight before I placed my first order. I too got sucked in my too good to be true price, ordered and confirmed per second e-mail, and then got the "it's been backordered" e-mail. WHAT A CRAPPY Company, don't believe their 5star customer service info on their sight!!!!! RUN IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!!!!! I'm now trying to figure out how to report them to the BBB!!! I'll be watching my CC statement closely for the next few months to make sure that there are no mysterious charges!!!!!"

"I ordered the Canon 70-300 IS USM lens online, I received an email telling me to call and confirm the order, when I called they wanted to know what camera I was using when I told them it was a Canon Rebel XSI they told me this was not a digital lens and proceded to try and sell me a 70- 300 Sigma lens telling me this was a better digital lens and that it was on sale and would save me money. I refused the Sigma and said I wanted the Canon, later that day I received an email saying the lens was out of stock for 6-8 weeks and the order had been cancelled. I next ordered from Total Pro Digital and guess what it sounded like the same guy answered the phone and tried to sell me the Sigma again with the exact same spiel. I said no I want the Canon. I asked if they had it in stock and they confirmed it was, after not receiving a confirming email I called back the next day and was told it was on 6-8 weeks backorder and I cancelled the order. They are the same company, BUYER BEWARE"

"I placed my order for a Nikon D5000 leader package for $319 which includes an 18-50 mm lens and a 55-200 zoom lens for $319.00 which is about 1/3 of the price at Costco and Best Buy. It took my order and there was nothing about back order. This guy calls me today and tells me that he wants to verify my address which I did and then he says that I need to buy the battery for this camera which is $150. I say I assumed that the battery comes with it but I want to wait till I get my order before making another purchase. he says ok but you can not use it without the battery. Again there was no mention of back order. I just checked my email and saw the same standard email that the previous poster shopper had posted which I have included at the end of this post. Anyways, these guys are in violation of FCC rules for fraud by using the Internet as well as Interstate commerce regulations and predatory pricing to bait and switch. They can be easily put out of business and forced to change their name and operation. I am calling FCC tomorrow. I do not think I can call my credit care company to report unless a charge shows up on my statement. If it does show a charge then that opens another front to confront these charlatans.

"First, placed order online. 11/27/2010
Got receipt via email thanking me for order. 11/27
Shortly after got email confirming order#SPD66311. 11/27
11/29 got email telling me to confirm order #HIB-1087060406.
11/29 tried calling company to confirm order as another email instructed me, after an hour being placed on hold 3 times, hung up.
Called 11/30 Much shorter hold times, after giving order # a few times and a few people I was told their shipment was defective and it would take 6-8 weeks for them to get the item from overseas. I tried to clarify this because they were talking about a foriegn camera, but would have 1yr USA warranty. The camera would be the same one I ordered, but would have to send overseas for warranty repair. I agreed to wait for the order to be filled sometime after Christmas.

I figured I would be getting an email shortly telling me the order was cancelled. Got the email a few hours later saying the order had been cancelled becaude the item was over sold and would take 6-8 weeks to get more. My email address has been added to the notify list and they will contact when item is available.

Most reputable companies have and inventory counter which automatically prevents over ordering from their website.

This company wastes your time and money. Now I need to find a good price with someone else after the deals are over!!!"

"I am so thankful that I read these reviews before making a purchase. After visiting their website, it seemed so much like the company I ordered my D40x from a few years ago. Maybe it's the same people with a different name. They too gave me the run around about the batteries and charger. They talked me into a kit that included filters, tripod & camera bag. It was cheap stuff. There was a lot of haggling back and forth before they replaced the defective or missing items. thanks for taking the time to write the reviews. You saved me a lot of trouble!"

"I know better! That's why I'm so embarrassed that I actually fell for their "too good to be true" price on a camera that I needed for an upcoming trip. The moment that I pressed enter on the order form I got a bad feeling, so, since it was after store hours I had to wait until the next morning to call. First call got hung up on. Second call, terminal hold. Third call, "Murph" told me that the camera was on backorder for 6 weeks. I requested that my order be cancelled and he said that would be no problem. Too soon to know if they'll actually charge my credit card. BUYER BEWARE!!!"

"Complete SCAM. Placed order on 3/29. (First clue) They called me on 3/31 from an unlisted phone number after I placed my internet order to ask for a new credit card number, as their AMX wasn't working. So stupid me gave them my visa. (Second clue) While they had me on the phone, they tried to up sell me hard. I didn't bite. (Third clue) An hour later they canceled my order because the item I ordered was now on back order; the order they just confirmed. I got suspicious, and watched my credit card account. The same day, two random orders from different stores showed up on my Visa account totaling $80. My card was stolen. I immediately had to cancel my card. Lesson learned. $80 refunded from Visa. STAY away from this company. They will only steal your credit card and rip you off. If the price is too good to be true, it is. Don't be a sucker like I was.

Cancellation message: Dear xxxxx,

"WOW, what a terrible experience, the bait and switch, the stress, the hassle, the threats, the lies, the manipulation, the sleepless nights,,,, everything that happened to all the others that left a review here happened to me to, I can't believe that these thieves are allowed to continue, the products have nothing to with with their business, it's only about scamming you out of your money,,, Bing.com led me to these thieves, Bing has them as a sponsored link, why does Microsoft support these blood sucking parasites???? I can only hope that Kevin and Chris end up in jail where they belong and suffer short and miserable life,,,, DLW"
