"Ordered a D90 kit with lens and accessories; received emails requesting for payment confirmation; called to confirmed payment. A guy on the phone told me that I needed to buy another battery, since the Nikon one would only support a few shots (12, if I remember correctly). I wanted to laugh, but I politely said no.
I received the kit after a few days. Pleased to see the many stuff in the package. Later on I realized that those no-brand accessories could bring me more pain than fun.
I tried the camera with the 15-55mm lens, and very satisfied with the pic quality. Then I decided to attach the wide-angle lens. It did get me surprisingly wide-angel shoots! However, when I had all the fun and wanted to remove the lens, I found that it was impossible to remove the wide-angel lens from the Nikon 15-55mm lens! I stuck.
I emailed, and called the store a few times. They were not eager to help. In the mean time, I received several emails from them asking me to leave them positive feedback for them.
So I have to leave the wide-angle lens on, and shoot every pic with it.
The worst had yet to come. Today I just found that the camera couldn't focus well. As a result, with manual setting, it took horrible pics; with auto-focus setting, it refused to shoot since it couldn't focus. I didn't do anything wrong, so I believe it must have something to do with the wide-angel lens -- either something wrong with it, or it cause the problem since with it the Nikon lens couldn't get proper protection as it would get without that.

I suppose I could use the Nikon warranty, but I don't know how to explain the junk wide-angle lens on the Nikon lens.

In conclusion, the store
1) would like to trick customers in buying accessories
2) some accessories are junk
3) when customers have trouble, not willing to help
4) would send several unsolicited emails soliciting for positive feedback, even if the customer is having problem that they wouldn't help to solve

"I purchased a camcorder package ("Panasonic PV-GS500 MiniDV USA Camcorder +PRO PKG!") with additional accessories. I did quite a bit of price research online and emailed ShopSunshine with questions about additional accessories. They asked me to call and place my order by telephone.

My salesman ("ABE", according to the invoice) was very courteous and professional. I told him I liked the kit, but I also wanted an extra battery, a mini tripod, a better standard tripod (the kit came with a cheap-o tripod), and was interested in accessory lens upgrades. Abe wanted to sell me an extended warranty, and offered me a bunch of goodies if I bought it.

They didn't have a better tripod, so he couldn't help me there. The extra battery was $119.99 (I bought it). He told me that if I bought the extended warranty for $99.99, he'd give me the mini tripod (a $19.99 item) and upgrade my wide angle and telephoto lens (the kit already came with a pair of extra lenses). "How much is the upgrade on the lenses worth?" I asked, to which he replied "we sell the upgrade for $199".

I was quite certain that the lens upgrade wasn't really worth $199, since I'd seen lenses for less than that at retail camera stores (~$90 each lens), but I understand that accessories are often overpriced for this kind of sales method. I figured I was really getting a $50-$150 retail/$25-$75 wholesale value lens set. "OK, I'll take that deal."

Today, I have two relatively minor complaints, and one major complaint. The camcorder works well and, other than the issues listed below, I believe the price was excellent.

Minor complaint one: The original kit was advertised as including free air-shipping upgrade (all camcorder purchases over a certain amount came with that). Mine arrived via ground shipping. Perhaps when one orders by telephone, the terms are different...

Minor complaint two: The kit included a hard case (a major reason I opted to buy from ShopSunshine over other online vendors' packages) described as: "Heavy Duty Aluminum Hard Case w/Dividers * Heavily padded shock-proof material to protect your camcorder and equipment . . . * Outside: 18 1/8 x 12 3/4 x 6 3/4 * Inside: 17 1/2 x 12 1/8 x 6". My invoice listed a "VGP-13", which is consistent with that description. The case I received was a "VGP-3202" which is smaller (outside: 13 x 10 1/4 x 5 1/8, inside: 12 3/8 x 9 5/8 x 4 1/2). I spoke to Eric of customer care about this. (I noticed a distinct difference in courtesy and professionalism between the sales and customer care departments.) Eric said that the case discrepency "was a typo" and that I received the proper case because the other one was "too large" for my camcorder, and that the case was only supposed to hold the camcorder and not anything else. (Now that I reread the kit description, I'm not so sure that this is still a _minor_ complaint of mine.)

Major compaint: The "upgraded" lenses I received do not work with my camcorder; they're designed to work on camcorders with smaller lenses _up to_ 37mm in diameter (mine's a 43mm). They sent me a little adapter ring which allows the lenses to mount on the camcorder, but when I use the lenses part of the image is obscured (it's like looking through a peephole). Eric told me to just "zoom out" (I believe he meant "zoom in"). I told him I might (unhappily) accept that explanation for the telephoto lens, but not for the wide angle lens -- wide angle lenses are meant to be used in wide view mode! Eric put me on hold for a moment and came back with an offer to take the lens back and give me a $20 credit. I told him that the salesman told me it was a $199 upgrade and what I wanted was a lens that would work with my camcorder. "I don't know who told you that," he replied, "but we sell them for $20." He also said that they sell no lenses designed to work with a 43mm camcorder, and that they could not even adapt a lens intended for a larger diameter mount.

I want the case and lenses to work properly with the camcorder kit I bought. Eric couldn't help me. I hope this review prompts a reply from someone who can."

"Looks like they drop the ball when it comes to the other side of business transaction.

10/1: Bought a D90 body from Ebay through the name Digital Shopping Network.

10/2: Got a payment request email. I called to confirm the order. I talked to Paul and there was minor upselling but nothing unpleasant.

10/3: Got another email asking for payment.

10/3: Called to ask for shipping date and was told that it would take 14 days. I talked to DEXTER. I needed the camera for a wedding that was in 1.5 weeks so I told him to cancel the order. He said he can upgrade to a faster shipping for something like $29(not sure). I said no, I will go out and buy a kit. He said he can upgrade the shipping for free if I leave a positive feedback on Ebay. I said OK but I will do that after I get the item (I think it's fair since I won't know if I will get it on time or not). He said he can't do the upgrade until I leave a positive feedback. I said, no thanks, I will just cancel it. He said OK, but you need to leave a positive feedback first to cancel the order. What the? I didn't like being forced to leave a positive feedback (DSN may say otherwise but asking someone to leave a positive feedback before they can process anything is considered being force in my book) but I just want it done. DEXTER told me exactly what to write! So I wrote "Dextor concluded my order." I received an order cancellation e-mail.

10/4: Sent an email asking how long would the refund take.

10/5: Got a reply from DEXTER saying it would take 10-14 days. FYI, there was a guy in a forum who ordered the same camera on the same day and got the refund the same day. It's a PAYPAL payment (ie. electronic).

10/6-10/12: Received a couple of emails asking them to rate them as 5-STARS! But nothing about my refund.

10/13: Still no refund. No email. No nothing. Just my $998 in their pocket.

The reason I am upset is not entirely because of the slow refund. It's the fact that they take your money hostage and ask for ransom which is a positive feedback in this case. This CLEARLY VIOLATES EBAY RULES (I emailed Ebay and asked).
Now I know why there are so many identical/similar positive feedback on their rating. If DSN has anything to say, I am waiting but give back my money first.

OVERALL: Shady business tactic to falsely inflate positive rating. Fast to take your money but slow to give it back when needed.

ADDED 10/20: Only after I left a negative review, I was contacted and they offered to provide a refund AND also was asked to drop this negative review. To be fair, the person I talked to, Mark, was apologetic and offered to send me a 4GB SD card for free to make up for the inconvenience. I couldn't care less about a 4GB no-name-brand SD card but it was a nice gesture. I said it's up to them if send one or not, I really didn't care (since I already bought a 8GB Extreme III card). Instead of trying to justify and make excuses for the bad customer service, how about owning up to it and try to make the best of it and try to fix it right..."

"Sunshine electronics has their good ratings because they force feedback. They will not issue a refund if you don't give them posotive feedback. They also say it must be five-star, but no ebay store can tell who gives 5 star and who does not, so buyers who have been swindled by this company can give them 1 star ratings without sunshine knowing if they did that!"

"Ordered Rebel EOS digital package through Sunshine Electronics. Was confused initially when I had to call and confirm order a day or so after ordering. Bacame more concerned when i found out it took 3-5 days to ship. I waited patiently as there was good feedback on most transactions on ebay (read all feed back on this website and you will figure out why it is positive) Needlesss to say I heard that my new camera was shipped on 04/20/2009 and then again on 04/21/2009 and then I call and hear that there was a defect in the cameras that they received from their supplier and I will have to wait (look at other feedback and this appears to be a trend with these folks) After reading all the feedback on this retailer and my experience with them I would be very wary of doing business with them. I have posted a dispute with Paypal and Visa to have my ordered cancelled and refunded to me. I will update this as needed to reflect the outcome.

Spoke to company rep for Sunshine and was threatened to leave positive feedback! I left feedback on Ebay and company has disputed so other buyers are getting ripped off right now! So now no camera and no money! I would suggest you do not buy!"

"I purchased the Nikon D60 KIT from SunShine Electronics, what a deal I thought. I did a lot of SLR research and for the camera and money the KIT was a good buy. I also did some research on Sunshine Electronics and found a lot of mixed reviews. BUT, I took the chance, which I should not have and should have listed to that little red flag. Well, I am extremely disappointed in their Customer Service. I did receive all of the kit except the 55-200 VR Lens from them. I immediately called them and they said that the lens was on 'back-order', the documentation on the packing list did have 3 letters, but non that would be taken as on back-order. The person on the phone said that it would be sent in about 2 weeks. I waited over 2 weeks. I called last week on and they told me that the camera would be available last Wednesday, the 22nd and that it would be shipped the fast way possible to me. Today, Tuesday, I called again, I talked to one person and they said that they had credited my Paypal account 125.00 for the cost of the Lens that it would not be available for 6 to 8 weeks. I was never notified from Sunshine Electronics about any delay's in the lens and I was not notified by them of them going to credit my account. I did finally get something from Paypal letting me know that I had the credit but it was in Pending for at least 4 days. I then hung up and called again a few min. later to find out what they could do, if they had another lens that met the same standards as the Nikon 55-200; to which they said no. I asked them at that time for the owners name, which they did give to me, but with reluctance. When I hung up, I was very disappointed as the ONLY reason I went with this kit was the lens and I was very disappointed with myself with NOT going with my gut feeling and avoiding this purchase. I called again to tell them since the lens was not available that I wanted to return the other items and get credited for everything; to which they informed me the 30 days were up. THIS WAS VERY UNETHICAL of this Company and I feel VERY VIOLATED!! I would NEVER recommend SUNSHINE ELECTRONICS from New York to ANYBODY.

P.S. Upon receiving my package they also tried to contact me and sell me another lithium battery; to which I said NO, I believe I was then marked for poor treatment.

P.S.S. I had save money for a long time to be able to get a SLR camera and Nikon is whom I chose to go with, I don't think Nikon would appreciate a company like them representing their products.

"I was fairly unsatisfied with the service I received. First, they almost a week to even ship the order out. Second, when they finally did ship it an item was missing there was no mention of it anywhere, nobody called me, and I have a feeling that had I not called them the item never would have been shipped. The last item I received was 6 weeks after I placed the order. Third and perhaps the most disappointing thing was the fact that when they indicated the value of the order they included the insurance and shipping and as the result I had to pay taxes on those too when the order crossed the border. Any kind of savings that I thought I was getting were wiped out by this, I would have been better off to get the camera at Best Buy or anywhere else it is sold. "

"WARNING!!! BE VERY CAREFUL if you consider buying from DSN/Sunshine Electronics!!!

I bought a Nikon package on ebay on Oct 8 and I still have not received my order, today is Oct 17. Only after I gave negative feedback on ebay did I get an email from Dexter. I provided the email chain below to give a perfect example of their lies. The payment was sent via paypal on Oct 10th and they are located in NY and I'm in NJ so the delivery should take a max of two days. I've had UPS deliver from NY before and it only take one day. I understand that they were closed for the Jewish holiday's but they made a promise for the delay and inconvenience and they have not followed through. They promised expedited delivery and it still has not been picked up by UPS. I hope to get the camera today but I won't be surprised if I don't. This is just a warning to the potential buyers out there.

Thank you for your correspondence.

Unfortunately our offices are closed for the Jewish holiday of Sukkos, which is today and tomorrow.

Your package will be shipped on Thursday, at which time we will email you with all of the tracking details.

The negative feedback is very detrimental to our business. I will not only have the five hour battery shipped to you, but I will also upgrade your shipping to overnight delivery, if you can leave the follow up for me within the hour. I apologize that I cannot get you tracking but every second that negative is on our profile we lose business.

Please let me know if and when you do this.

Thank you very much for your consideration.

I was told yesterday that the package would be shipped yesterday and now you won't be able to ship it until Thurs? You have my money and you can accept payment but you can't ship it? You should have told me that when you sent an email about payment or even Ebay.

I am sorry too but I will not take any action until I know my item has shipped.

I am in NJ so the item will prob get to me overnight anyway.

I just got the tracking number and it states that the package wasn't even picked up yet! What is going on? You guaranteed that it would ship yesterday and that I would get it today as you sent it in expedite. I don't even see that it is an expedited shipment.

You do not do what you promise and this experience has been horrible. I also found out that the battery that you said would be included is not even included in the shipment.

What are the chances you actually sending the additional battery?

I will be reporting the violations to ebay and provide them the timeline of our conversations and you false promises. I will also report how you communicate outside of ebay and bribe your customers to leave positive feedback.

"I will never do business with these people again.

I ordered a Nikon D300 via their ebay store on 5/14 and it was supposed to ship within 3 days. On 5/20 it hadn't shipped; called them; they said they had gotten a "bad batch" and were waiting for replacements, and that it would ship on 5/20. It actually shipped 5/21 and arrived on 5/23.
They advertised that it came with Nikon Capture NX (a $150 value), but when it arrived there was only the trial version, which I could have downloaded free. I called them 5/28 and they said they would ship out the Capture NX in a couple of days. I called 6/4 and they said it would ship out the end of next week (6/13). Frustrated, I entered my feedback on ebay (negative), and within 10 minutes I received a call from them (Simon). He was very hostile and told me that I would not get the Capture NX because Nikon no longer supplied it with the package. I told him his ad didn't indicate they shipped "what Nikon included", but specifically stated that Nikon Capture NX would be included. I finally hung up on him because I could this conversation was going nowhere. He proceded to call me back about 6 times over the next few minutes -- on his last call, I just took the phone off the hook and let him talk to the "air" -- came back later and hung up.
My point: they advertise one thing, deliver another. Between ship dates and what they were shipping, they told more lies than truths.
I will never do business with these people again. You make your own decision."
