"Rip off operation. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE LOW ADVERTISED PRICE!!!. YOU WILL NOT GET THIS PRICE!!. Purchased a Sony Camcorder from them but I was told that the product did not contain a charger, which in fact is actually build into the device, I was told that the product did not have any warranty but in fact you are simply buying the regular retail version product sold anywhere else. This was pretty much what I was told about every accessory that should have been included as standard. Up selling to the extreme, they simply push the price up to what it would cost anywhere else. Buy somewhere else or you will regret it. I did not get half of the items I paid extra for. I was placed on hold with them for 45 minutes not trying to get this rectified. Finally spoke with some who instantly put me on hold again for another half hour. "
"I'm tired of these people rippin' people of! So here's what I did...
What I wrote to the Internet Crime Center at https://complaint.ic3.gov/default.a
On Aug 21 I found an ad at: http://shopdigitaldirect.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=7729 stating that I could purchase the camera for $339.00 with free shipping using the United States Postal Service with an approximate delivery time of 6 to 8 days. I ordered the camera using my Bank Debit Card. I received the following receipt.

(This is simply a temporary note on your account that will allow us to ship to an alternate address)

On Aug. 23 I received a phone call from a man who said his name was Ken, representing Shop Digital Direct. He stated that the camera I ordered was a "Grey Market" camera, and that if I wanted the American version I would have to pay another $149.00. I told him I would wait and he stated that he would just cancel the order. I told him that I didn't want to cancel the order. And he said, "Fine! Expect it in six to eight weeks"! I am not the only victim of this fraud. Below are links to others who have fallen victim to these people and even a link for the NY BBB who lists other names these people are using. And other phone numbers as well. Thank you. Jim "
"i ordered a nikon D90 with a 18-200 nikon lens as a package along with a nikon flash. the interactions with the company were interesting. the battery and charger with firmware cost me a lot more and eventually the prices came a little under the competition. the reviews i read about them being frauds and all are now, i guess not really true because i recieved all my products as promised in excellent condition and very much on time. the person i talked to was victor and he was most helpful. he does insist on a lot to add on but im sure its all for the better. over all a first time good experience. i will recommend them for sure and definitely say that give them a chance to prove themselves. keep in mind there a few hidden costs but once all the numbers are on the table they are good people to deal with ! thanks "
"Whatever you order be prepared for them to call you to pressure you into buying all kinds of extras at exaggerated prices (far more than you could buy them for). Should you bite, be prepared for them to NOT send all of those upgrades. Also, forget the extended warranty. They don't tell you that is is for any repair under $500--and this was for a camera that cost far more than that. I am not sure I am better off buying my camera for less from them or for more from a more reputable dealer. "
"This company does a "bait and switch". They have changed their web page overnight increasing the price of the camcorder. Luckily, I got a gut feeling and have printouts of the price that was listed when I bought my merchandise.
I bought a Canon Vixia HF10, which was listed for $419, and a Canon Powershot SD770IS, which was listed for $205. I received a telephone call from the vendor early the next morning telling me the cameras did not come with batteries! That the Powershot had a "temporary" battery so I needed to buy a "permanent" batter with a charger. I was really tired so early in the morning, since I live in LA and these guys, I now know are in NY. I said "fine" and he said he would give me a $10 credit on the shipping. When I received the cameras, they were the regular box for the cameras that you would buy at any store, but the invoice listed a "Premium Package", which I did not select, and which is nowhere listed in the web site. There is no breakdown for the charges and the total is $1299.95! I went back to the web site and combined several possible cameras with batteries, although, NOWHERE in the listing does it say that the cameras do not come with batteries. Even if they did not, the MOST my cameras could have cost is $799.90. They overcharged me $500 ROUND!!!!
I have called my credit card company and placed a dispute on the charge. I have e-mailed the vendor and have not received a response. I tried to call today and nothing. Also, they changed their web page for the Vixia HF10 raising the price overnight to $649, but I have printouts of the $419 price that they sold to me. THIS IS CLASSIC SWITCH AND BAIT, FRAUD, DECEPTIVE ADVERTISING, AND DISGUSTING.
BUYER BEWARE, there is NOTHING to trust about this site. Just run a Google on these people. Sadly, I did so AFTER the fact!!!!
JULY 31, 2008 Subsequent to the above, I reported the company to my credit card and they gave me a credit for the full amount of the purchase. ShopDigital sent me an e-mail, I called them and the man was insisting on the idiotic argument that the cameras need a "charger". I had charged the camcorder the night before with the regular plug that comes in the box. IN addition, I made photocopies of the two boxes reflecting the content and both show that they come with a battery AND the charger for the digital camera and the cables/adapters for the camcorder. The guy told me "you are increadibly ignorant", at which point I told him "you are totally f...ed". As of today, my credit card company has not charged me again. I am willing to pay the $750 that the cameras are worth pursuant to the web page listing. They need to give me a $500 or so refund. But it appears that ShopDigital is not answering my credit card company. IN the meantime, I have two brand new, beautiful, perfectly functioning cameras to take on my trip!!! I do not, however, recommend this situation to anybody. "

stupid low price... have to call to "confirm" order... They upsell because product has no batteries, cards or straps... your low price model will come in 4 to 8 WEEKS! If you want to upgrade to the one that ships in 4-6days(as it said on your online offer) thats not the grey market one and costs a lot more. They should be hunted down and put out of business! John"
"Over the Internet, I ordered a Canon Cam G10, listed as $350 from Shop Digital Direct. I also asked for expedited mailing, an additional $26 charge. When they had my address incomplete, I called to correct it and was informed that the camcorder did not have batteries --but could be had for an additional $129. Then Shop Direct informed me that it had no charger. I asked for the cheapest, not exceeding $40. I called to cancel when I found out that they charged $759.99 on my credit card on July 18th. I called Shop Digital Direct several times on July 21st to cancel and they informed that the product had been shipped and therefore they could not cancel. In fact, UPS shipment tracking has stated that the product was shipped on July 24th, after I informed my bank to cancel, which bank called on the 24th of July! Anyway, they do bait and switch, over charge items, make it impossible to reach anyone on their so-called 800 phone number, lie to buyers about when the product is being shipped to deny cancellations, and the FTC and DOJ should investigate them for wire-fraud, FTC regulatory violations for bait and switch. Their sales are handled in Florida, the managers in Brooklyn, and they purposely violate each and every standard procedure and rules that protect buyers from unscrupulous Internet sellers such as Shop Digital Direct.
I received the product, which the invoice described as a "Special Custom Package". Actually, it was the standard Canon HG10 box with the standard charger and battery included, stating that it was an "upgrade to retail model". They still list on their website, the HG10 for $329! But their scam is to cause the buyer to call and create the situation to charge a premium for the same product. They handcuff you by charging a restocking charge. I did the math and the lowest price from a reputable seller would cost the same if not more when including the restocking and shipping charge. I'm sure that Shop Digital Direct purposely priced it the same way. "

"I ordered a VPL-VW60, 900 ANSI Lumens, HD Wide-screen Home-Theater 1080p LCD Projector. The price looked good. They first contacted me to try to sell me a 200 hour bulb for $600+, a 400 hour lamp for $900+ or a 600 hour lamp for $1100+. I told the guy that the projector should come with a lamp. He told me that for the advertised price he could not include the lamp, he cancelled the order. (It didn't say that in the ad which falsely influenced me to give them my credit card #) In another order on 7/27/2008, I ordered (2) Garmin 660 GPS systems but they were "sold out" order was canceled by Shop Digital This is a clear case of Bait and Switch, I have already contacted the Federal Government regarding this fraudulent internet activity."
