"I purchased Guitar Hero World Tour with the excitement of getting to finally play drums in my favorite music game franchise. I bought the whole set for almost $200 and took the set home to begin playing on it and experienced issues out of the box.

For starters, the cymbals are very loose and tightening them does no good at all. The pads are all very unresponsive and tuning them doesn't help at all.

The main problem I have occurred a few days ago. My red drum pad completely died and won't respond to any hits-hard or soft. I contacted RedOctane online and got and RMA number and to my dismay they are MAKING me pay for shipping both ways. Why should a customer have to pay for shipping both ways when the game is less than a month old and hardly played?

Calling RedOctane is useless. I have tried every phone option and every number I could find during their hours of operation, but nothing works.

For those who purchased their game from GameStop, returning it to the store will be a waste of time because they are sending all returns direct to RedOctane.

I am only asking for what is fair, and that is for RedOctane to accept responsibility and send me a working drumset. For now I have no choice but to file a dispute with my bank and contact the Better Business Bureau."

"I am personally unhappy with a transaction I made with RedOctane. The box that my order shipped in was of beyond substandard quality - with a thickness less than that of a baseball card. Because of this the box was damaged during shipping and the product package itself was partially crushed.

This is of course after I was charged over $8 to ship an item that weighed less than a half of a pound via DHL. The actual product I got (a "Super Dual Box") seems to be of good quality but I'd highly recommend trying to get it from either a retail store, or buying a similar product from a different company with a better service record."

"I like other reviewers here purchased the $200 Guitar Hero World Tour special edition to discover I had a faulty drumset. I patiently waited for the "drum tuning kit" to test if sensitivity was indeed the issue (as they claimed). It was not, so I received an RMA and mailed my drumset back. It cost me $15.50, and I have not only heard no response back since it was delivered, but the RMA "does not exist" according to the site. This whole experience has been very horrible. I will never purchase another Red Octane product for as long as I live. If you have read this far, forget Guitar Hero. Stick to Rock Band 2 for not only a superior product (as proven by reviews), but also VASTLY better customer service."

"Company has zero customer service. No 800# to contact them. Phone constantly busy. When you do get through, you get dropped in to a voicemail system, but all mailboxes are full and you can't leave a message for anyone. I have never reached a live person.

They supposedly sent out my package about a month ago. have still not received it. DHL tracking number they gave me does not work. Finally emailed company after unable to contact via phone. received reply days later that pretty much said "we shipped it, it's your responsibility now"

never ever again"

"Terrible customer service. I have left at least 15 messages and have not heard back from any one regarding the status of my return. Guitar Hero World Tour was purchased through GameStop and I had to return it the next day because the drum kit was broken out of the box. Not only did this game cost $200, but I had to spent $50 to return the drum kit. This is unacceptable. I have been waiting nearly a month to find the status of my warranty coverage and have not heard anything. If this continues, I will have no choice but to commence a small claims court action to recover the monies that I have spent on this game that, in my opinion, is worthless without the drum kit."

RedOctane, Guitar Hero Store (formerly: RedOctane.com) rep has responded

“We thank you for your patience. Our warehouse may have received your item but not logged it yet. If you have the tracking number for the package, we can confirm that it's been delivered and process your Warranty Claim. If there is no tracking number available, we will have to wait until the warehouse confirms they've received the package.”

"I signed up for the game rentals $18.95/month. First of all, almost all their games are not available or there is a long wait for it.

Their practices a bit fishy too. I sent out two games to them at the same time. One, they received the next day, the other.. they received a week later. How did this happen? Just a way for them to send out less games I'm assuming.

After a month, I'm cancelling my account."

"There seem to be two faces to this company. The online pricing, free shipping and fast shipping are the one side. If you place an order and it is sent correctly you will be happy with this company.

On the other side, if you have ANY kind of customer service issue (something doesn't work, they don't ship something, etc.) this company will be a nightmare. There is no customer service. Not bad customer service. What I am saying and what many others on here have said is that it just does not exist.

I placed a multiple item order. Everything except one part came and works fine. I have been attempting for a month to contact them. Never was able to talk to a person, did the online email and even emailed directly. They did set up an incident online, they did update it a week later when I contacted them asking what the status was. I filed a protest with my CC company a few days ago and noticed they have now totally deleted the incident from the web site. Not marked resolved, just made it disappear. I had actually copied it from the web site and sent it along to the CC company with the protest, so I have the documentation.

If you notice, they haven't even responded to anyone on this web site since November and they are marked as a company that monitors feedback and resolves customer issues. Talk is cheep. Their actions to me and many others documented here indicates something entirely different.

Buyer beware.

UPDATE 3/11/09 - I was contacted by the retailer because of this post. They have indicated my missing order will be shipped as of yesterday. I'll update if I get it.

UPDATE 3/12/09 - The missing item arrived yesterday afternoon. David was as good as his word. If only their online or phone customer service worked as well as writing something here does (or at least did for me)their rating on here would be a 10 instead of what it is. Every other part of their service seems to be exceptional."
