"THIS OUTFIT IS RUN BY LIARS, FRAUDS AND SCAM ARTISTS. Stay away!!! Under another one of its scam companies, USAPhotoNation, we ordered a Canon Rebel on 7/7/04. Today (9/1/04) I called to find out why we hadn't received the camera or any communication. Was told by MIKE that it wasn't available and that I would have to order the USA version. Said the version we ordered didn't come with a battery or warranty, although I assure you we phoned and asked and were told that it did. The "USA version" would cost us $300 extra, I was told. I said that I wanted to cancel the order and Mike said that I couldn't. Incredulous, I said again that I wanted to cancel the order and again he said that I could not. He then said, "Don't screw with someone who has your husband's credit card information," which I took to be a threat. Stunned, I said, are you in business just to defraud people? AND HE SAID YES! I have contacted the Federal Trade Commission (877-382-4357), the New York Attorney General and the New York District Attorney and won't let up until every search engine turns up a warning on USAPhotoNation and RadioActiveDeals."

"This was one horrible experience!

The letter sent to the merchant (with no response to date)
provides details on the following:
1."professional kit" sold by merchant does not meet Nikon requirements nor warranity standards.
2. Cancel order date not honored - although it was within 3 day cancellation period.

Customer service has been totally unsupportive!

The letter sent to merchant:

Please process the return for oder number 15572-P under RMA 16449 for the enclosed
“Nikon 8700” Professional kit.

The kit which your company has put together consists of components which are not covered under Nikon warranty.

Nikon Technical Support advised that both the telephoto and wide angle lenses do not correspond to the Nikon lens specifications and requirements and could not assure the camera would perform with these lenses or be in any way damaged because of their use.(For example, the Nikon wide angle 52 mm lens is 1.58 X).

This is the most significant reason why the camera package can not be accepted.
It simply wasn’t designed to do what you advised it would do on purchase and Nikon
Is not guaranteeing the functionality of the camera with the components provided.

There are some other inconsistencies between your web site published policies and your actions:

1. WEB Site advises : “Your credit card will only be charged only when your order is shipped.”
My order was shipped May 3 as noted on the UPS tracking site.
My credit card was charged April 28 as posted on my credit card.

2.I was told by SALES that I would have a 3 day grace period to cancel my order.
When I called April 28 to cancel, I was advised the order was already shipped when in fact it wasn’t. (At this time I had no way to confirm status as the UPS tracking didn’t start
Until the actual shipdate of May 3.

Your web site posts “IF YOU CANCEL YOUR ORDER AFTER IS HAS BEEN SHIPPED YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO REFUSE THE DELIVERY OF YOUR ORDER. ONCE WE RECEIVE THE PACKAGE YOU WILL BE REFUNDED LESS THE SHIPPING CHARGE AS WELL AS A 7% CANCELLATION FEE.

My order should have been canceled as I first requested on April 28 because it had NOT
been shipped.

3. Your web site posts total charges will be shown to you before you enter any information.
The total charges were NOT shown to me and I was advised they would be $57 via UPS.
Hard to understand as UPS is quoting a straight over the counter rate of $10.75 which includes insurance.

4. Your web site posts “ We offer a 10-day satisfaction guarantee from date of receipt for all photo equipment….All returned items must be shipped in its original carton and original condition in order to receive proper credit or exchange.”

The original package and contents in the original packaging are enclosed. The only exception is that the aluminum tripod was NOT in the original package and was reported
Missing May 4.

I therefore expect that because:
1. The Professional Kit does not meet NIKON warranty and technical support requirements
And
2. because you did not stop the order on April 28 as requested
And
3. because all merchandise is in original packaging and condition

"Ordered Fuji S7000 on April 30th, had to call to confirm. Was pressured into buying other accessories but did not. Was told the camera was on backorder. Update on order said 4 to 6 weeks. It is now July 26th and have been emailing the company to find out about the order and they would not respond. Cancelled the order today."

"I bought a Cannon A75 from Radioactive Deals and can say they had a great price to begin with but when I got an email asking that I call, they offered another great deal on additional accessories. I am totally tricked out from recharg batteries/charger to filter set and more for around $250. Thanks Jason"

"Only fools would deal with these people. Don't waist your time!! I ordered a Powershot s410 on 4/3/2004, and they said its back order for 3 weeks. I waited for over 3 weeks, and call to check on the status of my order; and the rep. said its back order for another 5 weeks. And he just cancelled my order with out asking me. I asked him "what camera do you have instock?" He said "we have only a few." and hangup. I think these people are in the business of collecting people's personal information and credit card number. I have reported them.

"Great prices, as long as you are
willing to buy very overpriced
accessories. If you decide not to buy
anything other than the camera, expect
an indefinite backorder. Also, they
sold me a "package" that included a
very nice hard case. When the hard
case arrived three weeks late, it was
a cheap substitute. Bait and Switch
all the way. I have disputed the
credit card charge as a result and
have asked for the NY State Attorney
General's Office to investigate. Do
yourself a favor and stay away from
this vendor. They have no integrity
in what they say. If you too have
been manipulated by this merchant,
send me an email at RAD-
complaint@bellsouth.net so that we can
coordinate our efforts if I'm
contacted by the State Attorney
General."

"Beware the "order confirmation" phone call - I was also "required" to confirm the 3 digits on the back of my credit card, but I left that card at home and Bill said "no problem, no problem" and went on with his add-ons hard sell.
Clearly, he didn't really need to check the card at all, and it was all a ruse for the extra sell.
Bill then asked me to fill out a positive review for him on BizRate in exchange for a faster delivery time. That's when I really felt worried and discovered all your reviews. I have since cancelled my order and even my credit card to avoid any future problems with these scam artists."

"Unbelievable scam artists! I ordered a camera and got the "contact Bob at extension 208" email. Once on the line I was told the camera I ordered came without cables -- if I wanted to actually use it I would need to pay 50% more for the full set-up. I immediately said, "Cancel the order," words that I was forced to repeat fully 50 more times before eventually hanging up in frustration. I told "Bob" (who refused to ever give me his actual name) at one point that I was an attorney and knew my rights, and his insane response was, "Well, you're not in the courtroom now, so stop talking and listen." When I asked for his name, he accused me of "verbal abuse." After I hung up, he called me back to continue the harangue, telling me that if I tried to buy the camera from anyone else they would "play games" with me. I tried to point to "Bob" that he was the one playing games, but he grew louder and more insistent. He told me that it was too late to stop the purchase (even though American Express later verified that no charge ever went through, and even after he had told me that the item hadn't shipped). After hanging up on him twice, I eventually got a call from someone else at this huckster outfit telling me that the order was cancelled. Thank God. However, I'm freaking out that these lunatics have my charge information. Who knows what they're capable of?"

"Radio Active Deals is a SCAM!!! Show me one person that has actually purchased a camera ONLY from this company. I thought I would be sneaky and called the sales guy and first asked if they had the camera I wanted in stock. The answer was sure, so I went online and ordered one. I then called back after I received an e-mail saying that they needed to verify my credit card information. Well I called and before I talked about my order or what the call was about I asked the guy if the camera was in stock, the answer again was yes. So then I proceeded to tell him I was instructed in the e-mail to call and he verified my visa card information and then tried to sell me memory and batteries which I declined because they were way overpriced. He said “enjoy your camera” and I hung up. Next I received an email saying that my order was in processing in the shipping department. After two days of not getting the e-mail that your camera is shipped, I called the company again asking when I could expect to receive my camera and the guy asked me my order number and when he checked MAGICALLY the camera was on back order. The advertise way cheaper prices than anyone else only to try and lure you into buying their overpriced accessories. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!"

"A WORD OF WARNING TO EVERYBODY.. These folks posting the "very satisfied" reviews.. Note they all only have ONE review, and all tout the wonders of "buying the right accessories". They come one after the other.. Very few consumers will sing praises about all the upsells they were sold! BE FOREWARNED.. The classic NY photo store scam of advertising a product at a very low price, then calling to "verify" something and in the process upsell you is as old as time.

Inevitably, the tactics ALL these stores use are:

-Saying the battery is a "starter" battery
-Saying it's not a USA version
-Saying it comes with no warranty
-Selling you massively overpriced filters
-Saying a no-name accessory is better than the Manufacturer's

Inevitably, if you do not take the bait, they'll say your item is "backordered", or if they send it to you, you'll get a beat up return or a used item.

DO SOME RESEARCH! At reputable places you'll find that the "package deal" these places try to sell you with the accessories end up costing way more than the actual package + accessories at a real dealer.
