"Great place to get a barebone at an affordable price especially since very few places offer barebones. Customer service was splendid when answering my questions over email despite it being a bit slow sometimes. However, the buying experience was smooth and they even price matched against another place for me. My clevo p151 came in on time and in pristine condition ready for me to tinker with. I will definitely be shopping here again in the future when I want to make a new build."

"Wonderful experience with building a W150HNQ from barebone purchased at R&J Tech! I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to buy a build-it-yourself laptop. The customer service via email, live chat and phone was great and shipping was fast and reasonably priced."

"Very good service. I originally ordered a Clevo P170HM with a nVidia GTX 485M, however the day after my check cleared I noticed they had just made the AMD/ATI HD 6970M available on their site for $200 less. Preferring the 6970M over the 485M, I emailed them asking if I could adjust my order and be credited back the $200 dollars. They responded quickly and changed my order, and my refund cleared through PayPal a few days later!

Building and shipping were very quick, and once I received my laptop I put all my additional components that I had ordered elsewhere in and my notebook worked flawlessly!

I will do business again with R&J Tech in a few years when I need a new high-end gaming notebook! Thanks for selling bare-bone notebooks R&J Tech!"

"I had shopped around at several reseller sites for a Clevo W150HNQ. R&J had the best price, by around $100, though their site didn't have as many bells and whistles as some of the other sites I visited.
I was a little concerned that they may not be as on top of things as some of the other sites, but for a $100 savings - I placed my order.
The communication was good and when I had a follow-up request mid-order, they were very accommodating.

Their site stated that the order would be shipped in 3-5 days and true to their word, three days later, my laptop shipped.

I ordered it without memory or hard drive, which I had ordered separately so I had to do my own OS install. The directions in the PDF manual that came on the driver CD are fairly clear. I've got some questions on whether the NVidia driver is working properly, as the Windows Experience Index tool seems to die when trying to evaluate the graphics capabilities. I left R&J a voice-mail and they got back to me within 20 minutes or so. (The Windows tool still has problems with the NVidia card, but after going through a few things with the R&J guy, we determined that the card seems to be working as it's supposed to, regardless of the error from the Windows tool. So I'll watch that and see).

Bottom line is that I'm a satisfied customer of R&J and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

"Bought my Clevo M570RU BareBone back in 2007 and was very satisfied by their customer service.

This was my first BareBone, so I had some questions relating the assembly of the machine. Their responses were fast an straight on target, so resolved my assembling issues no time."

"Back in September 2010, I bought a Clevo x7200 from R&J Technology: the full works for almost $5000 after shipping and whatnot. It was assembled and mailed within two weeks, which their online customer account let me progress monitor.

After a few weeks of use, one of the memory sticks went bad: only 8GB of the 12GB was detected, and there was lots of BSOD'ing. After sending an email complaining about it, the support team at R&J replied in less than 12 hours and let me send the machine back for RMA repairs. They didn't charge for parts and labor, but I had to pay for the shipping and insurance to their address. R&J paid for the return shipping and insurance.

While I think they should have paid for all shipping (it was due to defective hardware), I find R&J to be a trustworthy retailer. They stand 100% behind the quality of their products, and if it breaks while under warranty, they'll gladly fix it. Their support team is highly knowledgeable, quick to respond, and very friendly. The workmanship is easily comparable to Sager, but at better prices, so don't let their obscurity scare you.

R&J has gained my overall confidence and future business. Since the resolved bad RAM fiasco, my x7200 has roared like the Windows Experience Index 7.9 monster it was overclocked to be, without causing a single problem. I'll give 'em four stars. They lose the fifth for making me pay postage: a five star company wouldn't have done that. But otherwise? Great service and fantastic pricing."

"I ordered a laptop from this company after researching many different laptop retailers on the internet: newegg.com (their customer service is also excellent by the way), toshiba, dell, hp, IBM, etc. rjtech.com allowed me to better customize my order to fit my needs. I've been building desktop computers for 8 years but this was my first laptop build, and rjtech made the order process easy. Once the laptop arrived, I noticed that there were three stuck pixels (pixel displayed only one color). Most companies require anywhere from 5-15 pixels to be stuck/dead before they'll replace your screen. rjtech.com worked with me and answered my questions promptly to get me a new screen at a price that was better than I could find anywhere else to get it fixed. Thanks rjtech.com! I will definitely be recommending you to family and friends!"

"I have had my new laptop from R&J tech for about 5 weeks. Submitting an order was easy and straightforward - I used the online form. My order was processed and my computer built in four business days, and took five business days to ship.

My computer arrived well packaged and generally as ordered. My one minor complaint is that the folks at R&J had created a user profile - 'Unknown' - while setting up windows 7 and some system files still have that as the user name. I'm not bothered enough to change it, but still...

All said, the process was relatively quick and painless, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another computer from R&J.

There are a couple of things I would like to say about the product, even though they don't necessarily have bearing on the seller.

I purchased the Clevo W860CU, and find the appearance of the computer generally to my liking. The keyboard is excellent, and typing on it feels good; having a keypad is also nice.
The touchpad I'm a little disappointed with - the buttons seem stiff and unresponsive. It's still usable, but I keep a mouse on hand so I don't have to.

One thing that bothered me initially about the computer was how incredibly loud it is. The fans are distracting even (especially) when the computer is idling, doing something that shouldn't be producing enough heat to warrant fan use, and the "silent mode" is useless.
To anyone who purchases this laptop, I have three suggestions:
1)There is a sticker on the inside of the case covering one of the vents. Remove it.
2)R&J offers to sell a heatshift pad to help with cooling. You are far better off skipping the pad and propping up the back of the laptop with a book. Even better, you can buy a laptop stand that does the same thing. It helps. A lot.
3)Download the AMD GPU clock tool (this is assuming you have Radeon graphics. Nvidia has a similar tool, I believe) and use it to reduce the clock speed of the graphics processor when you're not using graphics processing power.

That will help keep fan noise down.
In every other respect I've been pleased with my purchase."

"First off, ordering a laptop built the way you want it, is very easy with R&J. The purchase process is straightforward and my laptop arrived exactly as configured. However this review is about their after sale support. R&J recently spent several days trying to sort out a system gremlin for me on the laptop I purchase from them. Definitely went above and beyond the call of duty. Would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone."
