Although I paid RamJet for shipping to Canada, UPS, unbeknownst to me, added $45 brokerage fees to the outstanding Canadian sales taxes.<br><br>Don't get me wrong. While I don't like to part with my money, I willingly pay sales taxes. What I am opposed to is UPS holding my order hostage by unilaterally creating a surtax and then surprising me with it as the shipment is delivered to the door.<br><br>I called UPS to complain. I reminded them that neither the USPS nor Canada Post charges brokerage fees. They admitted that UPS charges the brokerage fees because they are a private company. I interpret that as "let's see how much profit we can make off the vulnerable recipients". UPS offered to pay for half of the brokerage fees. I refused on principle. When I said that would refuse the shipment and UPS would be responsible for returning the delivery to RamJet, they relented and waived all brokerage fees. "Purchased over $700 worth of upgrades for my mac pro tower. These guys were quite helpful and knowledgeable even before placing the order. Unfort., the RAM was defective. These things happen. They replaced ALL the modules and paid for all shipping: so $0 cost to me and ZERO hassle. I'd use them again."
