"Ugh! Do not do business with this company! I was looking for an outdoor bbq vent hood. Sales person guided me to a specific hood over the phone. When I ordered it online, it said it was backordered. I called and the same person told me to disregard it and that the hood was actually in stock. Hood would be shipped in 7 days. Credit card gets charged immediately. I get a fedex tracking number the next day but when I contact FedEx, they have no record of it. I email Proline and am told it will be shipped that afternoon. A week later I inquire again and am told that my hood did not pass inspection and is now backordered. They suggest another hood that clearly would not work for me. I ask them to cancel the order and get email confirmation of my cancellation. 4 days later I call about my refund and am told that my order still shows as active. I was told that the order was now cancelled and a refund would be issued by the "accountant" in a few days. We'll see..."
"I ordered my hood from Proline after looking at every retailer in town as well as on the internet. Their products are high quality and very reasonable priced. I thought I did all my research but ordered a remote blower which ended up not fitting in the area I needed it to go, Proline was very helpful in returning the remote blower and shipped me the internal blower which actually turned ut to be easy to install and super quiet which is why i originally wanted the remote blower. During the installation I didnt clean the chimney sections very well and subsequently the lower section broke free from the tape which WAS holding it up. I placed a call to Proline to see about replacing the lower chimney section due to the damage and even though it was clearly my fault they offered to replace the section free of charge!! The hood looks beautiful and we couldnt be happier with the products and service we received from Proline."
"Item that was shipped had a faulty controller. One year later they still give me the run around and just flat out lie about helping me resolve the issue by telling me "its on the way". It never comes, and they just lie again and say they were out stock.
Bad people, bad products, bad company. Dont waste your money..
Prices look good, but you get what you pay for.. Crap!
Quick Note: Many of the positive reviews are by Proline employees. Just remember, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!"
"I wished I would have read these reviews before I bought from Proline because it could have saved me a lot of time and trouble. My wife and I decided on a 42" Range Hood from Proline and tried to order the hood we wanted but was told that the hood was out of stock but they had another hood that they could ship that was the same but with rounded corners. Initially we said that would be fine but we wanted the hood with 2000 CFM and we found out that the hood we ordered was only 1000 CFM so we changed the order to the correct model. Up to this point, our experience with Proline was only slightly questionable due to the possible bait and switch tactics used to sell what they have and not what they advertise. We admit that we screwed up the 1000/2000 CFM part of the order but I feel this is being used against us at every turn of our dealings with Proline. When we changed the order to the 2000 CFM Range Hood we received an order confirmation and then we received another email that said that the Range Hood that we ordered was damaged and we would have to select another one (again, bait and switch). I told them that if we could not get the hood that we ordered that we would like our money back and we will go our separate ways. Another email came and said that they would be receiving the Hood we wanted in two weeks and did we still want the hood and I said yes, we would wait the two weeks for the hood. Two weeks has come and gone so I called to ask what the update was on the hood. Now the latest update is four to six weeks for the hood. This is going just as many reviews said it would go, horrible at best.
With the aforementioned in mind, I would like to make this statement. Firstly, I hope the management of Proline reads this because I believe it would behoove them greatly. I am already in this far, so I am going to ride out the Proline Storm and see where it takes me. I am a metal fabrication expert and know everything there is to know about the bending and welding of stainless steel. If I get some re-fabricated hood, I will know. I am fair and very reasonable and I am assuming that Proline will do as they said they would do and deliver me a beautiful range hood and all will be well. If this all turns around and we receive our hood in good working order I will come here first to complete my review immediately if not sooner and share my honest experience with everyone.
I called Proline again to see if they would update my profile with the correct order information. The account profile had the original order information that was incorrect and I was worried that it would be read months from now and the order would be screwed up. I said exactly this to the Proline rep. and she said months from now? I said yes, the wait time on the range hood is like 6 weeks and we ordered it 3 weeks ago, thats right, months from now. Then she asked us about a 48" model that was exactly the same but 6 inches wider (bait and switch). Heres the thing, I never thought about a 48" range hood so I pulled out the tape and started measuring. 48" would work perfect with a couple of small changes and would be better for our type of stove. Perfect, we changed the order once again with the 48" chimney that goes with it and she didn't charge us for the difference. The account rep. charged us $187.00 for the extra shipping charge for oversized freight and we had already paid $75.00 for the original freight shipment. This could have been a way to compensate for the bigger range hood or not, either way it worked out for us. The order shipped 2 days after the conversation exactly as promised.
Now we have received the range hood but the chimney did not make it with the shipment. The first thing Proline told me was that the chimney was shipped and for me to check with FedEx for the missing piece. After 2 days and FedEx politely telling me that there is no way they lost half of the shipment, Proline ships me another chimney but without accepting responsibility for the error. The chimney shipped out yesterday but the package size that FedEx has is 37X14X14. The chimney is 48X12x12. I hope this is just an oversight.
I have only seen pictures of the range hood and it does look very nice. My wife is very pleased with the hood. She plugged the range hood in to test it and when she turned the fan on it made a loud noise. She looked into the exhaust vent and found a screw to be loose on the fan itself. She tightened the screw and started it again and said that the range hood worked so smoothly and quietly that she nearly cried. She is very happy with the range hood for now. I noticed some heat markings where a weld was made and its on the inside but that could have been taken care of. I will inspect further when I get home.
I made it home and checked the range hood out. It is a very nice range hood and I am satisfied with the quality.
I would like to say that I have Proline figured out. If you want what they have or are willing to change what you want to what they have and cooperate with them on their terms at every step and turn, you will get a very nice product with no hassles. If you fall into selecting a product that they advertise that says out of stock, please call for information, well, get ready for the ride of your shopping life. We were very flexible in most areas but the CFM of the hood was a deal breaker for us. We have a huge stove and need a high CFM range hood. When you look at the reviews here you can tell something is going on. 70% 5 stars and 30% 1 star and really nothing in between? Whats that all about? As far as I can tell the range hood we received is very nice and we are satisfied but the shiftless and dishonest sales tactics are horrible and disrespectful.
As I was saying before the chimney was not shipped when they said it was and when it did ship the package size was incorrect. The Rep. at proline assured me it was an oversight but when the chimney arrived it was just as the shipping documents said, way too small for our range hood. Two days of picture taking and other non-sense so that Proline could get the right chimney shipped. Here's the deal, they didn't have the chimney we wanted after they had bait and switched us on the range hood. So now they need time to get the chimney so they move into the ship and stall scam to buy time. Ship the shipment missing the part they can't get right away and that takes a week and then blame the shipper, another two days then ship the incorrect part is another 7 days then request pictures of the part to make sure like you are an idiot and can't read a tape, another two days. Then ship the part when you receive it for an additional two days. That gives them nearly 3 weeks to get things together all the while screwing your schedule up so bad that it is unrecoverable. We haven't received a shipping notice yet nor any contact from Proline after we informed them that what they shipped was incorrect and for them to get their act together. We still haven't been able to install the range hood.
Well, what can I say. I spoke with Proline today and they said they never received my email with the photos. I used my company email to send the photos and a stiff letter. They said they didn't receive the email so they didn't ship anything and that they were checking for my email address attached to my account. Really? How does that work? You don't see my full name in the inbox attached with pictures? When reseller ratings says that Proline Range Hoods DOES actively participate at this website to monitor feedback and resolve issues, how are they are resolving issues on this website? Only one form of damage control could be used here and I think we all know what that is.
Needless to say, we still don't have the chimney but AMEX has been contacted to resolve the issue of the chimney and the lack there of. We did get a FedEx shipping notice that is not attached to any shipment, man if I had a nickel....... I guess we will just keep waiting for our chimney and have a party when it gets here.
Well the war is over and it looks like we lost. The 48" chimney was not to be because they do not make a 48" chimney that was promised to us. We will have to redesign the ceiling and electrical outlet that was placed for a 48" chimney and spend another $300.00/$400.00 getting that done.
In closing I will say this, if you can't get what you want from Proline in the first week then cancel your order immediately because it is one rough road to go down. Pay more for a Range Hood and have much less stress because it just ain't worth it. "
"I was looking for a nice range hood at a reasonable cost. I happen to go online and found the Proline website, love the looks of the range hoods and the price, I call them up and the customer service was excellent and I was convince I was making the right choice. I bought it, installed it and it looks beautiful, everyone that comes into my kitchen loves it.. I am so happy that I found this website.. thank you Proline.. Marie"
"I would have given them 5 stars, but originally they sent me the wrong hood. I ordered a 30 inch wall mount plfw544 hood with a glass. When it arrived I had no reason to open it because the contractor wasn't going to install it for a 2 months. But for some reason I opened the box and discovered a 36" model instead. Luckily I did it within the 14 days. I was a little frustrated because I took everything out of the box to do the measuring and had difficulty getting it all back together. Pro Line was very good about taking it back, arranging the pick up, and sending my correct model. I learned that I should unpack the second one within the 14 days and everything was good and working, except I couldn't get the timer to shut off the fan. I called and Danielle went through the procedure several times -- till I got it to work fine!! The problem was the manual they sent me with the hood was not specific for my model. Danielle sent me the updated manual via e-mail. She also explained that they were redoing the instructions for setting the fan timer and would send me the revised explanation. It's not installed yet, but I think it will work just fine. Thanks to Danielle and customer service for being so helpful."
Apologies for what is sure to be a LONG review, but I am personally wary of "venting" bad reviews so wanted to explain the story in detail to be of maximum use to all reading...
In short, use CAUTION when considering doing business with ProLine Range Hoods... - Do not rely on anything that you are told verbally. Details below. - An email indicating a FedEx tracking number has been "queued" doesn't mean it's about to ship - IF you do business with them...CHECK your order in detail when received!!! - IF you order, and there are problems, you need an eternity to get them fixed. If you don't have that eternity - DON'T ORDER.
That's it in a nutshell, but read on for the more detailed version of why I feel this way.
I was drawn to ProLine because of their reasonable prices for a seemingly quality hood our summer kitchen installation. I purchased the Pro Series 54" model w/ Chimney Extensions. I specifically called and verified the components and ordering process. At that time, I was told if the online order was placed that day (3/5) - which I did - the item would ship on Thursday. I hadn't heard about tracking information, so I called back the following Tuesday. I was then told it wasn't going to ship until the end of the week because "We didn't have a shipment last week." Long story short - the shipment didn't arrive until 3/25.
We went to install the hood on 4/11 - which was the first available time my contractor could be rescheduled after the LONG ship time. When we opened the box...NO CHIMNEY EXTENSIONS! There was no damage on the box and therefore no reason to open until we were ready to install, or so we thought. I called ProLine the same day and was told that the extensions would have to be manufactured and would be sent expedited shipping the following Monday at the latest (4/15). Trying to learn from the previous shipping fiasco, I called when the "queued" FedEx tracking number hadn't been updated by the following Wednesday. I was told (by Kelsey) that the warehouse manager was out, so she'd talk to him on his return and call me back. Repeat this call and story EVERY DAY since ... never a call back. Still trying to work it out so I can finally get the hood finished. We're not even talking about the functionality yet!!!!
This is the first negative review I have ever written - that's how frustrated I am. At this point, I am completely at their mercy because the main body of the hood is already installed. Not a good feeling! Wanting to save others the grief if possible. "
"I ordered this hood when I saw what looked to be the exact hood in a showroom at a tile shop. I had seen pictures online, but thought the price was too reasonable to be for real... The unit in the showroom had great buttons and I was able to turn the fan on and hear a stunningly quiet fan running.
I took the chance and ordered my fan from ProLine... When it arrived, I plugged it in and instantly had a big grin on my face! This was the same unit, indeed, and operation and lighting was fantastic. The fan is extremely quiet and pumps a very large volume of air through its six speed controller. The LED lights are bright and run cool.
What I didn't notice, though, was that the chimney sheet metal was damaged during shipment. There was a small ding in both sections of the sheet metal, and it was extremely noticeable when we hung the unit just last week. Even though I didn't report this damage until after the 14 day initial warranty period, the very courteous staff at ProLine honored my claim and is sending me replacement chimney sheet metal.
With such an excellent product at such an incredible price, I am very happy to recommend ProLine for their product quality and customer service!! My only reduced mark would be in the shipping, since my original product was slightly damaged.
I recommend careful inspection upon initial receipt of your order. Keep in mind that any ding on the stainless steel will be very noticeable. Getting that replaced right away(if it is damaged), will make for an easier experience.
With the replacement chimney, I am excited to report that the contemporary look and outstanding quality of operation exceeds my expectations."
"Purchased and installed a P109 serier hood in 2010. It has excellent performance and has worked flawlessly. Recently the switch for the auxiliary lamps failed. I called Proline and spoke with Danielle to see if they stocked replacement parts. She said they had the part and even though the hood warranty had expired she would send me one for no cost. She also did not charge me for shipping. I installed the new switch and everything is working fine. Very happy with the hood and the customer service."
" I ordered a 36" Professional Under Cabinet Hood with Remote (PLFW 115.36). It came with a good packaging, and easy to use installation instruction. When I had technical questions, the support department personnel was very patient to provide the answers and helped resolve my issue in a timely manner. You are a true customer oriented, reliable, and professional Range Hood vendor, standing behind your Good Quality Products and 100% Satisfaction Guaranty policy. We moved to 3 different houses in the past 20 years and had used many different range hoods. This one is the best we ever had in terms of real high power CFM with low noise, and professional stream line outlook design. I would recommend your products to my friends whoever need a high quality hood. Keep up the good work. Thank you so much. J Yan 3-24-2013 VA"
"I placed my order for a 36" wall mount 900 CFM hood late December 2012. Received mid January 2013. I opened the box and inspected it. It was packaged very well and I did not see any damage. The chimney hood even had plastic coating to prevent scratching.
My hood was installed by my contractor in early Feburary. It seemed to work well but had a strange loud noise when I would turn it off. After several phone calls to ProLine Support, it was determined that the blower needed to be tightened. I was instructed to remove the cages on each side of the blower and tighten the knobs inside. It was extremely difficult to remove the cages as access to the top screws holding the cage on needed a special tool. After removing the cages, we found no knobs. We ended up sending pictures to ProLine and were then instructed to hire a contractor to come fix it. Finding a contractor was not easy as they only work on brands they are familiar with. (we are located in the Washington, DC area) Long story short, we did find a contractor to tighten the blower. They needed to drop the fan unit to do so.
WE WERE REIBBURSED THE $129 FEE the contractor charged us. (As a side note, we offered to return the unit but that option was not available as the unit was already installed. We were told that we should have tested the unit before installation. I think they should put a big piece of paper in the packaging stating "TEST BEFORE INSTALLING" these words are burried within the instructions but you really need to look for it. Not obvious)
Bottom line. We are thrilled with the function and look of the unit. Would recommend the PLFW 129J.36."
"We love the hood. The 600 cfm fan is enough to drive fumes out the 6-inch semi rigid duct that I fished through the ceiling between the first and second floors of our house. The only issue I encountered is that the web site says that the hood is for 7-8 foot ceilings and the manual says it's for 7 1/2 to 8 foot ceilings. Fortunately, I have access to a metal shop and was able to get the chimney cut to length. (We have a 7' soffit above the hood.). Shipping time was fine -- I have been spoiled by Amazon Prime, so anything less than immediate seems slow by comparison, but the shipping time was very reasonable. The hood workmanship seems excellent and I think it's a great value, especially comparing it to Broan and some of the other big name players in the residential hood market."
"Great experience. Our Proline range hood added the finishing touch to our kitchen remodel. The hood was shipped quickly and arrived in excellent condition. Installation was easy with the supplied directions. The LED lights are great and provide a good contrast to the soft white undercabinet led lights we installed. Customer service, quality of hood, value for money are all excellent. Thank you for a wonderful online buying experience. "
"Great experience, actually. Great price on a beautiful 36" ProV Chimney Wall Hood. We got it within one week of ordering. I inspected it and there was no damage at all. Packaged very well and nothing was missing. Then I boxed it back up and stored it until we were ready because we gutted and redid the entire kitchen ourselves on the weekends as we could. As you can tell by the order date (April, 2012) we took awhile to get to the range hood.
However, we finally did it in November and I wanted to live with it for a bit before doing the review. Almost three months of flawless work. Dimmable lights, adjustable fan - very powerful (900cfm max) and surprisingly quiet with it's inline fan and the 10" pipe we used (for anybody doing the project themselves - I highly recommend semi-rigid flexible pipe - godsend to work with in our situation. Remember though - semirigid which is all metal. Not the plastic/mylar stuff. That's not code.) It's beautiful and looks fantastic in our kitchen. I wish I could add pictures but I don't see that option.
My only complaint is the lack of directions on the electrical hook up. Nothing in the included paperwork, nothing online and I really am good at finding that stuff. There was plenty on how to install it otherwise, just nothing at all on the electrical. My father in law is a very experienced licensed electrician and he was stumped for about 15 minutes, which is saying something. After some experiments, he figured it out. His comment was that nothing in the guts of it says "UL listed" which some electricians will not even work with. Now you have to understand that he didn't see anything inherently wrong with the wiring or think anything looked suspect. He would have rewired it himself had that been the case. It was just a little confusing, mostly because they had no instructions for the electrical at all. Actually, that's not completely true - the blower itself had instructions on how to wire the control/power to it, just there was nothing about wiring it to the controls, if that makes sense.
Note: This was with a remote inline blower with a variable control. I'm fairly certain we would have had zero problem with a local blower because you just have to have a receptacle to plug it into and they have videos to show how you do that.
Conclusion - beautiful, very well built, very functional, well-priced product that was easy to install if not somewhat confusing to wire. "
