After a long and intense research I wanted to get the cool looking Sony Vaio Z540. After hearing so much good about PortableOne (P1) I placed an order for an Vaio Z540NAB with SSD and clean OS upgrade the 20th of april.
Unfortantly the last one was grabbed the day before but i was promised sony would send new stock within an week. The stock never came and I started to get worried since I needed the notebook badly for an special event by 9th of May.
Scott from P1 did a great job spotting an alternative for me, and he actually found a BETTER alternative for me with the Vaio Z 540NFB, which have a faster CPU and more RAM than the original Z 540NAB I ordered.
The notebook was shipped by Fedex the 1st of May and arrived the 7th of May in Denmark.. well almost! The truck from Fedex had an accident and never showed up at my adress. Fedex told me I could get my packard re-delievered by the 11th of may (since the 8th of may is a hollyday in Denmark) - seriously bad luck! (I still needed the notebook for the 9th of may!) Luckily Fedex custom-service was flexiable and I was able the pick my packard up around 30 km from my adress.
Unfortantly when i opended the packard I noticed the one corner of the Z was not attached properbly. Scott and Patrick offered great support via e-mail, and after some reading in the service-manual of the Z I managed to fix the problem myself and the notebook was ready to use on the 9th of may!
I have now had this notebook for around one month and it has worked PERFECTLY - the machine is simply amazing! The custom OS Image P1 installed on my system is great and the SSD they installed into my system as well is performing like a dream.
I am the type who always has had desktop PC's because I didn't believe notebooks would be powerful enough for my needs (Photoshop and other graphic applications)-but this notebook is just great and works excellent for my highly demanding needs.
I must say I am highly surpriced by P1's fantastic customer service and very fast reply-time. Scott answered my (MANY!) questions within hours (even minuttes!). He also did a great job in finding an alternative Z540 when sony let him down on the NAB-model. Also Patrick guided me beautifully when I should fix my problem.
I will recommend this seller to everyone looking for a notebook and I'm going to be a returning customer. This review was modified by its author, janik_dk, on

My experience with Portable One is one in which tremendous customer service turned a small problem into a great blessing. I recommend Portable One wholeheartedly, and I will look to them first for future laptop purchases for myself, my family, my friends, and others whom I advise on the purchase of a laptop.
I wanted to purchase for my mom a Sony Vaio SR with an upgraded 7,200 RPM, 320 GB hard drive. Having read on notebookreview.com about how great Portable One (P1) is, I decided to make my purchase through them.
When I first received the SR from P1, it lacked an integrated web cam, which the specs indicated would be included. I got in touch with Scott at P1, and he was able to determine that Sony had published inaccurate specs. Scott immediately went to work on my behalf, exchanging at P1s cost the SR I received for an SR with a web cam.
To make a long story short, because the class of SR I ordered was in fact no longer being produced by Sony, in the end Scott got Sony to give me a $100 discount off my purchase price while at the same time, in fact, upgrading my purchase to a newer version of the SR that included not only the web cam but also more RAM and, significantly, a better processor. Moreover, Scott threw in free overnight shipping to expedite the laptop to me. In the end I paid $928 for about $1,400 worth of laptop.
I am very grateful to Scott and the rest of the staff at Portable One for their outstanding customer service. I will look to P1 first for future laptop purchases, and I highly recommend you do the same.

Portable One did an amazing job of fixing my under warranty computer. My laptop had a broken hinge and the monitor was not working. They immediately replaced the lcd and even replaced my faulty touchpad without me asking them! My computer literally looks brand new. They went above and beyond my expected level of service. Definitely get your machine serviced with these guys.

Portableone has a very nice, easy to talk to customer service. It was almost unbelievable because I never had to wait on the phone or felt like I was going through a maze of automated machines. I received an upgraded Sony Z540 which I love to death and has worked the last few days like a dream. I had a delayed notice on the shipping of the laptop from Sony to Portableone that I had to call and find out about, but they were able to receive the laptop and expedite the shipping so I could receive my laptop on time. I'll have to see if everything works out for the next couple of years, but it's worked out great so far!

My sales agent, Scott, was well-informed, efficient and very helpful. The computer, a Sony "Z," arrived earlier than promised and (so far) has exceeded my expectations. I would use them, and enthusiastically, too (and by personality I am generally disinclined to write such laudatory comments.

I just ordered a netbook from them, they shipped it when they said they would ship it, and I got it on time, and love the product. Best thing about this store is they really give you personal attention, when you email them you actually get a real person replying the same day (your mileage may vary), who truly wants to help! That's a rarity in today's world of nameless customer service reps. I feel like you can trust this company and its people to give you great service. The crew at Portable One are simply the most professional, most helpful individuals I have ever purchased from. I was in the market to purchase an ASUS netbook, and Portableone personally notified me immediately when the particular netbook I wanted arrived. Later, after my purchase I had some repair issues and Scott went way out of his way to help me. I am grateful for all of the help and advice he gave me. I plan to purchase all of my future laptops from Portable One!!

I recently purchased a Sony Vaio from this company and was impressed with the responsiveness of the sales support staff. My only complaint is that I didn't receive and email with order number, tracking info, etc., but I emailed them and within an hour had an email with my order status and tracking number and an apology for not sending it sooner. I even contacted them after the order had shipped to change my method of payment ( i used the wrong card) and they cooperated, sending me a Google checkout payment request and issuing a refund of the original payment as soon as the new payment method was verified.
I've bought my last 3 or 4 laptops from Dell, and after some frustration with their support and a desire to try something new, I decided on the Sony Vaio. Portable One had the lowest price i found and i'm glad i bought from them.

I am a customer from Pakistan. i bought a Vaio locally and then promptly trashed the hard disk. could not find a recover disk which could be shipped to me. P1 very kindly supported me all the way until i had the disks in my hand. They have always been very helpful, prompt and patient in the support and responses inspite of the 12 hour time difference between then and me.
I would reccommend doing business with them any time.

I ordered a Samsung NC-10 (Netbook)from Scott at Portable One (P1) and they were wonderful. This netbook was extremely new on the market and they did not have one in stock. Within a week, Scott had one shipped out to me. I was skeptical that they would have Samsung ship one to P1 within a week but they did. I received mine UPS within 2 days of their receipt. Scott was great at responding to my nevous/anxious emails and phone calls. However, Scott came through and my next purchase will surely be with P1.

This guys provide the best customer service I've ever experienced. I ordered a XP downgrade disk for my vaio Z570N around 4:30PM on Fri. and they drop it on the USPS box the same afternoon! I was pleasantly surprised by the level of service I've received from Portable One. Not many companies now days give you this kind of personal touch. The person I was dealing with, (Scott Darling)after couple of emails almost felt as a friend of mine. Everything happened as they promised and I had my order on time even I had narrow time window to get it. Thumbs up!

Portable One has again demonstrated that it is the retailer to beat for the products they offer. The crew has blown me away yet again with the kind of service the other guys don't even attempt.
I've now been using my Vaio SZ780 N5 heavily, and under a wide variety of conditions for over three months. I work in the disaster response field, and have put the Vaio to the test extensively during the Northern California fires of the past two months. Indoors and out, cabled and wireless, using many programs and features, and under all manner of circumstances, the device has performed flawlessly.
I give all of the credit to Ivan and his crew at Portable One. This is the second notebook I've bought from P1, and at least 3 of my colleagues have purchased from them; all of us have been pleased-- even surprised-- by the quality of products and service, and the integrity of the company.
This purchase was no exception, and further reinforced my faith in P1. When I asked for a few recommendations I received prompt, credible advice, apparently without regard for price tag or markup. All of my questions were answered promptly and with uncommon knowledge of product lines.
My delivery was delayed a bit because the P1 crew found a bad pixel that all too many vendors would have shipped under their self-serving pixel failure policies. I was notified promptly, and the delivery occurred as promised. Those who've purchased a few PCs know that neither of these are as common as we'd like.
Truly outstanding service from beginning to end, but not at a premium price. On the contrary, P1's posted pricing beat the competition's AND they added upgrades and extras to make their pricing and service untouchable.
All in all, the PC is everything I was promised, and Portable One has excelled once again. If this company is not your first choice of vendors, it should be.

For anyone considering Portable One, this IS the store for you!
My experience with Portable One spans the past three weeks. It started with a few emails inquiring about the product I was interested in (ASUS Eee PC 901 laptop). The manager with whom I was communicating, Ivan, normally responded to my emails immediately (within minutes, literally). His answers were always very clear, helpful, and made the decision-making process very easy. Placing the order online was fast and easy. The product was not available yet in the American market, and Ivan kept me updated almost daily on the upcoming launch.
As I was heading abroad and had a very short window of time to receive the Eee 901, I ended up needing to make numerous changes to my shipping address and, unfortunately, had to bother Portable One quite a bit as a result. Ivan was extremely patient and understanding, and always tried to help me figure out what the best options were. ASUS was a bit slow in releasing the Linux-version 901's from customs in San Francisco, so unexpected delays made things more difficult. Still, Ivan even we as far as upgrading my shipment option on his own, without charging me! That was certainly much more than I would ever expect, as all the changes were always mine, not Portable One's.
In the end, after the Eee 901 was finally released and immediately shipped, I had already left the U.S. on business, and now had to seek yet another way to get the laptop to me. I had to now ask Ivan to reroute the shipment to yet another location in the U.S., and was yet again shocked at how fast and efficiently Ivan took care of it. Not once did I hear any complaints for the headaches I was obviously causing Ivan and Portable One.
What I kept on getting, from the very first moment on, through pre-sale, sale, and after-sale, was top notch, impeccable personal service. I cannot imagine receiving this anywhere else, in any business transaction I've ever had, or probably will have.
I cannot but give the highest possible recommendation to Portable One and to Ivan personally, for the absolutely best experience I've had.

This has been resolved, for some reason til now it would not allow me to remove it. The service has been excellent, what happened is Ivan's email service and mine are not compable.
