"I purchased a Dahon Boardwalk online from Performance Bicycle, and at the same time purchased a "team membership" which is supposed to apply 10% of each purchase to future purchases. Each time I have tried to redeem points something was screwed up with my account - this last time, I no longer existed (apparently another account expired, and they issued me the same account number - then expired my account). I think the team membership is only a scam."

"1. Bought expensive Fuji bike on Friday from Robert & Erica at the Buford GA Performance Bicycle. Had a great time in store, great deal very happy.
2. Took bike out first time on Sunday and had a rear flat after 5 miles of pavement.
3. A few minutes later walked into store with bike and was greeted by Erica and Store Manager.
4. Store Manager told me anything could happen to a tire and I would be charged to fix it. He told me that several times. He also said I wouldn't cost me too much. I asked him if he was sure he didn't want to take care of his customer. His reply remained no anything can happen to a tire. He never looked at the tire or offered to. Erica stood nearby with a horrified look on her face. I told Store Manager I would like to return the bike. His reply was ok you will need to remove your own accessories.
5.Store Manager called me on my phone when I left to retrieve my receipt and said hey look I'm going to help you out "this time" and take a look at the tire but again he told me anything can happen to a tire.
5. I returned a few minutes later with my tools and receipt. Erica apologized profusely for Jason and told me he was really sorry he didn't take care of us and offered what can I do to make you happy so you can keep your bike. I told her I didn't want to continue my business with someone who thought customer service was doing me a favor "this time"
6. My wife and Erica eventually talked me into chalking it up to Store Manager having a bad day and I decided to keep the bike. The service tech had found a defect in the tube and replaced it. About that time Store Manager walked up and told me he noticed my tires were dirty and that if I had ridden the bike off the road I had damaged the tire. I told him the service tech found a defective tube. Store Manager walked away again and I continued to remove my accessories from the bike as I had now changed my mind again, this time with my wife's approval.
7. Erica cheerfully and apologetically refunded all of my money and offered to see if Store Manager would give me a service contract or something to change my mind. I thought about it for a minute and gave her a hug and offered to put in a good word for her if she wanted to seek employment somewhere else. Erica pointed to the 100% Satisfaction No Hassle No Kidding sign in the store and said I wish I could have done that for you I'm very sorry. Store Manater returned to the front of the store and started with I told you I would take care of it this time and my wife asked him to please stop talking.

I intend to take my business over to REI where I should have been, where I know the employees know what customer service and satisfaction mean. It was fun having a red bike for 2 days though!

"I found "2011 GT Avalanche 2.0 Disc Mountain Bike" on sale at performancebike.com. When arrived to shop I found that such bike present in stock for my size (medium), so I ordered it. Next day when picking up bike from store I found they gave me "2011 GT Avalanche 2.0 Mechanical Disc Mountain Bike" instead, which is cheaper, but same sale price. When I mentioned this discrepancy to salesperson he said that "2011 GT Avalanche 2.0 Disc Mountain Bike" was mislabeled and in fact this is 2012 model and not on sale. I tried to convince them that this problem is not mine and I want to buy advertised bike. But no success. Please be aware of this shop."

"I don't usually write negative reviews, but I've had a horrible experience dealing with Performance Bike and I think others should know about it. My wife and I placed two orders last week, one for a bike and another for pedals and shoes. For the bike order, we had to pick a store (we couldn't ship it to our house), so we chose the nearest store during the checkout process. No big deal. The next day, we got a call saying we needed to pick a store. I forwarded our order confirmation (which had the store listed) to your customer service department, who then forwarded it to the Credit Desk and sent me a slightly nasty response email. That was last Wednesday.

Since I hadn't heard anything, I sent a follow-up email yesterday (Monday) checking on the order. I get a reply saying they needed the billing address the credit card has on file to process the order.

First, that information was on the original order confirmation! Secondly, why didn't anyone call us requesting the information??

I replied back with the information, and once again my "information has been forwarded to the Credit Desk."

I called again today since I hadn't heard anything, and one of the orders had finally processed -- there was a problem with the billing authorization. Okay, I understand that happens, but Performance Bike didn't communicate with us that there was a problem or that they needed more information!

They were going to try to process the other order and we would receive an email letting us know when it has (finally) processed. I'm not expecting to receive that email.

Like others have said before, make sure you don't need your order anytime soon if you order from this company, and don't expect much from their customer service department. My advice is to call every day just to check on your order, since you won't get any feedback otherwise."

"I have been a customer of Performance since the SuperGo days. Recently, I had an issue with a mongoose bike I purchased from them. When mongoose refused to warranty it, Performance took it upon themselves to make good of it, I received a brand new bike. I highly recommend this vendor. Most of the reviews here seem to be lopsided with the rest of the views on the internet, I.E. Yelp."

"BUYERS, CYCLING FRIENDS, BEWARE. WORST Company I have ever dealt with. I bought over $10,000 from this fraudsters company. When I wanted to return some stuff and I paid for all returned shipping they just returned it back to me with letter that they cancelled my account w/o ever paying for my return shippings. Yes, I was paying for membership. Their policy clearly states 100% satisfaction on their main web site. They are lyers!!!!!!"

"Peformance Bike is the worst online seller I've ever dealt with. This is my 6th order with them, and every time I have had problems. To date, I have 41 emails back and forth with customer service on issues. They're prices are very comptetitive, but be very patient when you order. In my experience it takes about 4 days from day you order to the day they ship. So the membership and free "upgrade" shipping means you'll still get it after you would have from someplace else."

"After reading many comments, I do not feel too wrong about my feeling that Performance is not performing. I have bought from them for more than 25 years in their store and on the net. I buy many store brand items and found no fault with them UNTIL the last tire failed. Though I use Kevlar tires, I have never worn a tire tread to baldness. Usually the sidewall is torn and I replace the tire fearing a blowout in a location I do not care to think of. The last tire was used to replace a compromised sidewall. I mounted the tire and went for a ride. I then went on vacation for 2 months. When I returned I found that for no apparent reason the tire had split open longitudinally about 4-5 inches along the crown. I called Performance and they instructed me to send the tire to N.C. for a claim. In the meantime Walmart was the only store that could provide the size I am using (700X35). After a wait I got a "gift card" for $7.99 to compensate for their junk tire. They say that is the cost of the tire. Thank god I got that before I ordered the $850 bike I was interested in. Yes, they have become a rotten company. Even for $9 I will not buy a tire from them. See what you can get for less than $20."

"Don't do business with this company! I bought an cycling computer in store in Boulder, CO that never worked properly from day 1. Gave it a chance and tried it out for a month. Put in new batteries, reset it and tried everything else. Called the store and they gave me an address to ship it back to and told me to write what was wrong. Did everything they said. When I hadn't heard back after 3 weeks I contacted them and they claimed they never recieved it even though my tracking number said it arrived. They would do nothing for me. Out $100 bucks! I got rippd off....Real nice....."

"Do not do business with these people. I placed an order and several weeks later they decided they had not charged me enough so they just took the difference from my credit card without my permission. These people are crooks."

"These guys have absolutely no idea. Their website has soo many holes in it. Orders are lost, then found, then lost again. I place this order a month ago. They stuffed me around trying to verify my credit card and then said I had to post them an international money order. WTF? Nigerian scam much. Their only help is only for product information. I got decent service once, but they handed me off to the international department. WHO never replied. HOW F*CKIGN RUDE! The service was sooo bad I want to vomit now at the site of their webpage. How a company can operate like this is AMAZING. THey wasted a MONTH of my time, I have no order now. They have lost a $1000 sale and ALL MY RESPECT. How dare they treat someone like this."

"Terrible Customer Service! Placed an order online, got an email confirmation, but then it never showed up in their system. Called 3 times, never received a call back. Apparently they don't need customers..."

"I've been shopping online with them for almost 20 years...first from Michigan since there were no good stores near me and then I stopped when I moved to San Francisco since the city is crawling with bike shops. I've now moved to Tracy where there are no bike shops so I have to use them online once again. Wow is their shipping SLOW!!! It's ridiculous how long it took for my stuff to arrive with their ground shipping. I only had $127 worth of purchases so I didn't qualify for free ground shipping...I paid $15 for taking 11 days to arrive...and it's still not here yet. I'm shopping elsewhere from now on."

"I ordered some pannier bags online using the points from my recent bike purchase. They said it was back-ordered, but gave me a date when they should arrive at the store (free ship to store). I stopped at the store a few days after that date, having not received any updates, and found they did know if they would be getting any more of these bags. If you don't know if you are going to get a product, why is it on the website? Clerk at the store suggested I cancel the order and I did. A couple days later I noticed the points hadn't been refunded to my account. Sent an email and they said it was a manual process. Next week the points still were not there and their response was that it would take "a few weeks"! It's been nearly 2 months and I still don't have my points back. I've contacted them several times and always get the same scripted response. Now I find the bags are listed as available again on the website. They don't care about their customers at all! Stay away!"

"I have purchased the Scattante CFR Team Road bike, Scattante R-670 and the Fuji D6 2.0 over the last year and I have been Very happy with the quality, price and the company and customer service too. I to have a team member card and use my points for other purchases and have never had any problems. I find them to be very consistently great. "
