What shocked me was that the shipping on this tiny thing, which arrived in a lightweight box about 3\u0022x3\u0022x5\u0022, was over $8! (That was for FedEx Ground, the cheapest option available.) Defective parts were used in the internal cable assembly (runs from the drives to the back panel of the enclosure) included with the product. A connector on this cable assy. failed during while I was testing the external cable connection the first time. When I unscrewed the external cable\u0027s thumb screws, both both attachment hex nuts on the internal cable came out with them. These nuts are supposed to stay, tight in the enclosure\u0027s back panel.<br><br>This forced me to repair the internal cable\u0027s connector in order to be able to reconnect the external cable running to the PC. Upon reassembly, the hex nut, fasteners holding the internal cable connector broke. I compared the broken hex nut fastener to a similar part pulled from an old laptop PC and it\u0027s clear, the part which broke was defective in that the hole for the thumbscrew was drilled too deep. This was not a case of the user over-torquing or over-tightening these nuts.<br><br>PC Pitstop refused to repair or replace the internal cable. They refused to even replace the defective nuts. The explanation was that the SCSI cable was not covered by the warranty because the user attempted to repair it and that it did not have replacement hex nuts available.<br><br>Now, I\u0027m stuck with a brand new $99 SCSI enclosure which won\u0027t work.<br><br>In my opinion, PC Pitstop\u0027s service and support leave much to be desired. I will not consider it for future purchases. ![Share](javascript:share_rating({"review_body":"purchased items on 3-12-04<br><br>reviewed previous posts about this vendor and read favorable reviews.<br><br>decided to order a external scsi terminator, external scsi 1.5FT cable, and a 9-bay hdd tower since hypermicro was selling a comparable tower for much more. <br><br>sent my specs to paul haley and he replied to all my emails within 4-12hrs and was very knowledgeable about scsi configurations to ease my mind about purchasing from his store knowing i was getting the correct items the first time. <br><br>partial order was sent from his location and a call order was sent to the hdd tower manf. to ship the tower from them. his order came came on the 3-17-04 and the tower came the next day.<br><br>website qouted one price but pricewatch showed same item $20 cheaper. paul gladly refunded the difference without question, rare person\/store indeed that honors and old pricewatch listing that was dated 2 months old.<br><br>all parts worked and nothing was dented when unpacked.<br><br>customer service is 6 stars out of 5. i place his store right next to newegg. will order again from him whenever i need anything scsi related.<br><br>update:<br><br>after getting my new case, i inquired paul about the scsi id switch cables and come to find out the manf. installed the wrong cables. we sent emails back and forth for about 1 day, and paul finally understood what i was trying to explain. paul gladly shipped out the new correct cables.","link":"http:\/\/www.resellerratings.com\/store\/PC_Pitstop\/comment\/132004#comment132004","store_thumb":"http:\/\/www.resellerratings.com\/store\/thumbnail\/PC_Pitstop.jpg","store_name":"PC Pitstop","username":"jr_in_nd","rating":"5"}, "single");){kind=link}
"Stay away from these guys.
I bought a $1500 RAID Array (X8-RAID). My IT guy
couldn't get it to work with a Linux box. Even after getting on the phone with PC-Pitstops's Tech
support. So I RMA'd it.
Eventually they refunded my money - minus 15% for
restocking. The 15% chaps my hide. I can see a restocking fee for something that works. NOT for
something that doesn't work."
