"Strongly reccomend avoiding pcboost.com! I recently ordered a barebones kit (assmebled tower) from them and experienced the following problems: 1. Computer tower was shipped late. Waited till last possible arrival date and then called them to ask why it hadnt arrived and if something had gone wrong. pcboost told me they could not tell if there had been any problems but BEGAN the shipping process after i called. Received finally within 4-5 days LATER.2. Package was damaged with a large hole in one side.3. Opened up and hooked up tower to computer, computer kept freezing randomly and I could not use it. Called customer service and was transfered to 'tech support' and all they told me to do was unplug stuff, restart and plugg things back in while continually reminding me it shouldnt be broken. wow, thanks captain obvious.4. Read reviews about company online which apparently i shouldve done in the first place. Scary reviews and decided to take no risks and send my barebones kit back for a full refund as i was still within the 30 day grace period. Pcboost told me they WOULD NOT COVER shipping costs i had to pay. thanks again!5. Understandably it took about a week for them to refund me back into my account EXCEPT the fact it was NOT THE FULL AMOUNT i had paid them!! Read their terms and conditions online which were not very direct. Called pcboost only to be informed their is a 15% re-stocking fee. THIS IS NOT listed in their terms and conditions AND they sent me a BROKEN ITEM!!!Thankfully I was able to get my full refund despite the odds. All in all I wasted money and a whole lot of time with this company. I couldve had a computer a month ago!! If this company were serious about good business they would have been way more efficient and careful with shipping and not charge a customer shipping and fees when they have a broken item that was THEIR fault. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! COMPANY IS VERY SHADY!!!!!!!!!"
"This is a fraudulent company that operates under several names. I ordered 256MB SDRAM on 1/30/2010 from 1stCHOICEMEMORY.COM and received confirmation of order arrival within 6 days. As of 2/19/2010 still have not received order and they refuse to provide a tracking #. This company charged me $39.99 3x on my credit card under 3 different names, one of which was PCBOOST.COM who I have never ordered from. BEWARE!!!THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM. WATCH YOUR CREDIT CARD STATEMENTS!!!"
"excellent page setup, makes ordering and customizing easier"
"I ordered a basic power supply. It was supposed to have 4 molex connectors but it only had 2. I can't connect everything in my computer now. I was upset but not to much becasue the power supply was super cheap and free shipping.I may try this place once again in the future, but I dont know. I'm probably just going to find another cheap site that is more professional and more reliable than this place."
"very low price on amd 2x64 6000... add said free shipping... but when i placed my order it said it would take 6 to 10 days to ship... so i paid for $24.19 for overnight delivery... order was placed early sunday morning... received order wednesday evening...i have no intentions of ever dealing with these pcboost.com ever again..."
"Great prices, long time to build and ship computer, but we were told so when we placed order. My review is really neither good or bad, I wouldnt recommend them or recommend staying away from them. Arrived with broken motherboard, but I have complete confidence this will be taken care of."
"Complete system purchased on 10/1/04. System arrived within a reasonable amount of time, yet it was never able to boot. Several days later, after many attempts at booting it, it was sent back for repairs. It arrived back in late November. The HD and memory were replaced and the system worked fine for about 3 weeks. Then, once again, it wouldn't boot.I was informed by a PCBoost supervisor that the customer satisfaction period (30 day period through which the customer is allowed to returnthe item for a refund) is already past. In fact, it was already past when the system arrived to me the 2nd time, hence it's not actually 30 days of normal use, but just 30 days from original date of purchase. Thus, if an item simply doesn't work the first time, it's a way to "eat" most or all of the customer satisfaction period.Computer was sent for repairs the 2nd time. This time the HD and Motherboard were replaced. Computer arrived back in early January. This time within only 3 days it wouldn't boot. Once again diagnosis shows another HD is dead.Computer was sent for repairs and arrived in PCBoost 1/25/05. I am now expecting a brand new system to be sent some time soon.I will update this review once I know more. The following are factual points (I am trying to avoid my own interpretation - be the judges for youselves):1. The machine is a HD killer. So fat a Seagate, Western Digital, and a Maxtor SATA hard drives were damaged beyond just some bad sectors.2. Just replacing the HD every time (and perhaps the memory and or motherboard) doesn't seem to be a solution. It may be a solution in the sense of replacing whatever component is not functioning, yet it clearly isn't tracking the source of the problem and replacing or fixing whatever is causing this damage every time.3. Some details about customer service: The 2nd time the computer was sent back for repairs it took about 8 days before it was shipped to me. That's a reasonable amount of time, yet when I called them Friday afternoon they had no record of the system even arriving for repairs (they had only a record of the previous shipping to me) yet, it turned out later that the system was repaired and shipped by Friday morning (and eventually I was able to talk to someone who once again insisted there was no record of my system but she remembered seeing this in outgoing shipments earlier that day). Hence, the only succesful way to find out about the status was by relying on personnel's memory and insisting that a confirmation email be sent (which was indeed sent the following Monday).4. More details about customer service: I've spoken to a PCBoost supervisor 3 days ago when Fedex tracking showed it arrived back at PCBoost for the 3rd time. It was then that I was offered a system with "no common components". I have since spoken with the technician who'll actually be building this system and he said it'll be shipped out this week (i.e. by the 28th). However, today, the same supervisor has no record of the system arriving for repairs and has no knowledge when it should be shipped other than a general statement that it takes 5 business days for repairs. Only once I mentioned the "no common component" option and the technician he referred me to, he finally remembered my case. Hence, once again, it appears that relying on personnel's memory instead of actual record is essential.5. Time and money - so far (not including the original shipping charges as part of the original order) I have spent 68.96$ in shipping charges (to ship it back 3 times) out of which I was refunded 19.32$ by PCBoost (it didn't take any serious arguing, yet I did have to request this as this wasn't freely offered). I bought the system 10/1/04 and assuming the next time it arrives with no more problems, it'll still be around 2/5/05. Hence I've so far lost 49.64$ and about 4 months without a computer.I will refrain from judging if this is a typical or a-typical experience with PCBoost (both options are disturbing since if it's typical it's clearly a bad sign and if it's a-typical then one would expect them to be able to put more effort into solving the extraordinary, rare cases). This is a factual description as much as I could make it so. Please use these details to form your own judgement."
"I placed my order on friday after 10pm the 21st of jan and payed for 2nd day air fedX on the 28th I checked with FedX and the del date was jan 31st I called PC Boost and was told my parts were shiped on the 26 th of jan it took 3 days to ship this is not as fast as there web site says 1-2 days. if I had not driven 30 miles to the fedX office and picked up my box on the day I should have had it it would have been 3 more days becouse it was set for delivery on jan 31st 2005 1week and 3 days after the order was placed. when I called them and told them I wanted my shipping cost back becouse they did not deliver on time I was told not to come back and on they were not going to give me a refund. I had already made up my mind that I would not buy any more parts from them ever!! THIS PLACE SUCK"S"
"They charged my Credit Card 12/31/04. The invoice says they shipped Jan 3, 2005 By USPS Priority Mail. The shipment finally arrived Jan 13th, Indicating shipment Jan 10th.They promised 1-2 day shipping and I do not believe that is what happened. I think they used my monney to purchase the product and in fact shipped it January 10th."
"Ordered an AMD XP 2600+ motherboard Combo, everything arived at once on schedule, unfortuantly the motherboard was bad, called up Customer service they said go ahead and return it and they would send another. I asked if they could send another brand cause i've heard bad things about the one I was orignally shiped and they said no problem.. Sent it off today we'll see what happens.... Well its been about 13 days called them to see what was up they said they tested the board adn it was bad and that they were sending the new one out today. I requested that they send a different brand this time and the nice lady on the phone said they would. The new board should be here sometime next week, its sat now. So far i am very pleased with the service. I would surely buy from this company again."
"I had a very good experience with this seller. I ordered 128MB PC2100 RAM...they emailed me the next day saying that the RAM was not compatible with my motherboard. I (knowing that is WAS compatible, it was generic) told them not to "upgrade my order to Atlas Brand RAM" and they emailed me back the day after telling me that the item had shipped and would arrive between the 16 and the 20. I received the item on the 15! Excellent!! Works fine in the motherboard too. Great seller! Would definitely recommend!"
"I ordered a motherboard/cpu combo and I received it ontime. I then assembled the pc and it was slowand I use all quality parts. I called tech support and they would not advance replace the motherboard. They wanted me to ship it back at my expense and wait for them to check it and then decide wether they would replace it or not. Meaning I would be without a pc for another 2 weeks"
"Took them 11 days to process, ship and deliver a motherboard/cpu combo that they supposedly had in stock. I even paid extra for expidited air shipping through fedex. These people SUCK and I will never use them again. BEWARE....RUN WHILE YOU STILL CAN!"
"My last buy with this store was a motherboard, but I have purchased memory and some other items over the last two years. I am very concerned with the condition of merchandise when I buy mail order. I find a lot of companies sell products that are not really intended for the US market and sometimes the US company will not service or support the item. All of the stuff I have purchased from pcboost.com has been new and comes in the original box with everything sealed. This is something to look for. With computer parts, if you get anything that has a label in another language be careful. I have checked with ASUS aboout my board and they said the part is a US model and has a US warranty. Everything went well with the delivery and the sale (as it should). No problems to report. I would buy from pcboost.com again."
"I would recomend staying away from this merchant. In July, 2003 my company ordered 4 128MB RAM modules. June rolled around and we still had not received our order. So we called or emailed pcboost.com(can't remember which) and they told us that we they had shipped the order and if we had not received it we needed to send them a fax saying so. Did that the same day they told us to. At this time I became very busy and almost forgot about the order. So October rolls around and we still have not recieved anything from them. I call the other day to ask about the order and talked to a very rude person at customer support who told me that they had sent out the replacement order a month or so ago. I finally get her to realize that we hadn't recieved anything and that she needed to look again and low and behold they never actually sent out the replacement order(even though they had recieved my fax fine). Supposidly they were going to finally ship out our order that day (using FedEx this time) and email us with a tracking number. Two days later still no response from them so I called again. Who ever I talked to seemed confused about the order, still didn't have a tracking number, and didn't even know if they had sent anything out yet. So it is a few months later and we still have not received out order. Hopefully it will show up before 2004. "
