"I bought a monadnock baton on opticsplanet because they were running a sale, and a day later I received a request for government ID. Note that my state does not have any restrictions on the sale/purchase of batons--they immediately canceled my order (not my request) when I questioned their policy. They've wasted my time and patience--I'm going to buy the same product direct from Amazon.com (no restrictions might I add!). OP is going on my list of blocked sites that I will no longer do business with."

"I purchased a forearm for my rifle on 9/12/2011 after talking to Leapers (UTG) to make sure that this part was going to fit my particular rifle. I just had a little time to install the forearm purchased, today 10/13/2011 and found out it will not fit my rifle. Talk about pissed off! I called and talked to Optics Planet customer Service and was told that they will not take the part back even though its 1 day over the 30 day policy. I would've spared my reputation and honored the return."

"After much research as the the best beginner Bin's that would suit my needs I settled on The Nikon Premier's 10x25. I am traveling to Japan for a month and wanted to be sure to have the new Nikon's for this trip.

So I call up and place my order with Optics Planet 9/14/11, I am told they are not stocked but ordered from Nikon and this could take up to 7-10 business days. This concerns me, but there is still breathing room in the trip time. Then I get a email stating my order is on hold for security reasons and to contact American Express. I call Amex first thing in the morning and verify the charge is legit and is authorized. I then call Optics Planet at noon to make sure this is corrected. I am told haven't heard from Amex could take up to 3 days. So now I am looking at 4 days down and I am in the red zone as to receiving my item in time. I ask if I can use another card, risk manager states I cannot as this makes me look even more suspicious??? Suspicious? Why because I am ordering a binocular and having it shipped to my place of work rather than my home? My work is within 1 mile of my house. I had verified Bill to address associated with my CC..passed. Why am I having to try so hard to come up with solutions to give them my money?

I am told there is nothing I can do other than wait...which is what I don't have time to do. Poor customer service for a new potential customer. I will have no choice but to cancel and take my purchase and future purchases elsewhere. "

"The price of the opera glasses was the lowest I found on the Internet. The product arrived on time and were what I expected from the description on the OpticsPlanet website. Within 24 hours of my online order, I received a confirmation e-mail and a tracking number. I am very satisfied with my experience and would order again from this merchant."

"If you want poor service, merchandise not in stock, and a ridiculous wait time, Optics Planet is for you! Personally I prefer doing business with companies that actually have customer service. From my experience, I have to wonder if they're stacking the deck here at reseller ratings.

On June 18 I ordered 6 bar buoy mug holders. The next day I received an email saying my order was on hold, the items weren't in stock because they are so popular. Boat mug holders must be flying off the shelves so fast that the manufacturer can't keep up with the demand, while the rest of the global economy struggles.

The email stated the holders would be expected in 7-10 business days. Of course the email also mentions "If you would like to explore some other options, we have a warehouse full of similar products and our product specialists would be happy to help you find a suitable replacement." Other than colors that I didn't want or would match what I have, this is the only mug holder they have on their site, and the only brand I wanted to purchase.

After 7 days I began checking my order status, and it now added '6 ordered and 4 shipped', but of course none were, or was it it ever mentioned that they had 4 and could ship a partial order.

Ten business days pass and my status remained unchanged, and no further updates from Optics Planet. During this time the product was still available to order on their website with no mention of it being out of stock. With the on-hold email stating that they would be happy to substitute replacement merchandise they had in stock...Bait & Switch, perhaps?

Calling customer service(?) on July 2, I was informed this 'popular item' would now be 'expected' to arrive at their location on July 13. How long it would take for them to re-ship it and for my order actually arrive is anyone's guess. That is if they really do come in on the 13th, since they didn't make the original 'expected' 7-10 days as stated in their order-on-hold email.

The rep also asked if I'd like the 4 he says they do have in stock. REALLY? This after waiting since June 18th.

No thanks, I'll take my business elsewhere. Plenty of reputable and honest companies that don't give their customers a run around, and know how to use technology to communicate."

"I purchased a Barska green laser for my 12ga shotgun from Optics Planet one year ago. After firing three rounds the laser came apart. I phoned Optics Planet and they asked if I had already mounted the laser on my gun. I replied that I had and they told me that my only recourse was to
contact Barska which I did. I also sent good quality photographs of the broken laser. I asked Barska if I had purchased the correct laser for my shotgun and was it able to withstand the recoil
of a shotgun. They said the laser was defective and that it, in fact, was a good laser for my shotgun. They then replaced the laser for me. The replacement laser was able to withstand 15 rounds before coming apart in exactly the same fashion. I again phoned Barska and they reassured me that this laser was perfect for my gun and it also must have been a defective laser.
I repeatedly questioned Barska about whether this was the correct laser for my shotgun and I offered to pay any additional amount to get a higher quality laser that would perform properly
for my gun. They told me that this was the correct laser and again replaced the laser. Now my third laser is beginning to come apart after about 20 rounds. I called Barska and they told me that their R & D department had a “fix” for my problem and that it would be available shortly.
After another four months, I again phoned Barska and they proceeded to inform me that they would give me a credit of my purchase price, but they have no laser that would be usable on a shotgun. I replied that if I spent the money on a product they repeatedly told me was the correct product for my needs, and they could not replace it with a satisfactory product, I wanted a full refund. I again offered to pay an additional amount for a better product. The refused to refund my money and said they did not have a product for my needs. I refused their credit and will never purchase a Barska product again.
