"FRAUD. Ordered a Nikon D60 and a Nikon Coolpix S230 and didn't see any charges to my bank account. Called the customer service number to inquire about my order and why it had not been processed. The rude staff member tried to sell me several things that weren't part of my order. When I told him that I only wanted what I originally ordered, he told me it was out of stock and would take 6-8 weeks to arrive. I told him to cancel my order. End of story."

"The worst customer service ever. A salesman called after my initial order to upgrade. He convinced me to buy additional items. The order was then shipped incorrectly and incompletely. I emailed 3 times and called customer service (Cathy or Kathy) 3 times and each time I was told the order was to be shipped and that I would receive an email confirmation. So far nothing. Now, not only have I not received my complete and correct order but I have to file a dispute with my credit card company. I will NEVER deal with these schlemiels again and I urge you to give them a wide berth as well."

"Same-old-same-old... these clowns tried to pull a bait-and-switch on me too. Ordered a Garmin Nuvi 780, website stated "ships in 24-48 hrs." Got a call a couple of days later to "confirm" my order, and the guy tries to sell me 2009 maps for some ridiculous price. I decline, we go back and forth for a bit before he capitulates. I ask when the product will ship. "Should ship by the end of the week," he tells me before hanging up.

Another week goes by, I check online and the status reads "backorder." I finally call them after about a month, and the salesperson who answered stated I had ordered an "internet unit" and it's out of stock. He goes on to tell me that the "internet unit" doesn't come with maps and tries to upsell me to a unit that is twice the cost. I informed him that all Garmin GPS units come pre-loaded with maps. Anyway, I ended up hanging up on *him* for a change, then went online and canceled my order. They make it really easy to cancel, by the way... clicking on either the confirmation no. or the status automatically cancels the order. It's like they *want* you to cancel!

Fortunately they never charged my card, although some fraudulent charges to some overseas internet site did pop up about three weeks after I placed the order. I contacted my credit card co., filed a dispute, and they canceled my card and issued a new one. From now on I plan to use Citibank's "Virtual Account Number" feature whenever I place internet orders."

"I absolutely agree with the many complaints I have just read about this company. A friend mentioned them as having good prices on digital cameras. I called (long waits and disconnects) and finally got through. I wanted to order directly from the company rather that online. The salesman told me I would have to do the order online, but I could call back to confirm that the order went through. So I ordered the camera online (price was $89 with $9.99 for shipping per the shopping cart print out). When I called back the salesman told me the order went through and asked if I needed a battery. I was surprised that it didn't come with a battery and told him there was nothing on the site about a battery being extra. He restated that no battery came with the camera and it was $60 more for that. Since it was a gift and I needed it soon and I wasn't familiar with prices, I told him to go ahead and include the battery. He tried to sell me some other stuff, but I told him no. He said he would put a rush on order for free since I had a hard time getting through earlier. The camera came via UPS about a week later (obviously no rush order was done). Since then I have discovered the $60 battery is available in most stores for about $19 and is on sale at some stores for $14. So this company definitely did a bait and switch with the cheap price for the camera and an exorbitant price for the battery. Also there was a discrepancy between the final amount I was charged and the total I was given on the phone. Total on phone per salesman was $169.62. Total without tax should have been $158.99 ($89 camera + $9.99 shipping + $60 battery = $158.99). The difference might be tax but the invoice in the box with the camera showed a bundle package for $169.62 plus $9.99 for a total charge of $179.61. So it looks like they double charged me for shipping too! Absolute scumbags! I will never buy from them again and I will tell as many people as I can about their disreputable practices!"

"DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY WHATEVER YOU DO! ordered June 11th. Email sent to me confirming order and saying it will be shipped within 48 hrs.. Next day new email, "call to confirm order" wrote back saying Its ALREADY been confirmed gave order number, tracking number etc. . No reply. Wifes birthday came and went. no present to give. Called back. Store closed. Called back. 40 min wait, then hang up on me. Next day call back 20 min. wait, told the guy who wrote the letter telling me to call to confirm "Ed M." what I was calling about, puts me back in the Que. 15 mins. later their computer disconnected us somehow. called back 20 mins later and almost out of cell minutes, he comes back on to tell me that my product is on at least 3 week back order. He couldn't understand my frustration at why they didn't just TELL ME THAT IN THE EMAIL! TERRIBLE COMPANY TO DEAL WITH SAVE YOURSELF THE ANGER AND FRUSTRATION< DEAL WITH SOMEONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO RUN A COMPANY!"

"Placed an order for a Canon 40D. Never received a confirmation email so I check the website, which said the order status was "new Order" Called next business day to confirm, I was asked if I wanted to buy a battery or accessories. When I declined stating that I was upgrading from an earlier model, I rep said the order would be shipped next day.

I received an email within 10 minutes stating the order was now on Backorder. This seems to be a common practice with these online retailers if you refuse to be upsold.

Called back to customer service who said the website was not up to date, which doesn't explain that the price was dropped $40. I cancelled my order."

"I placed the above order, received no confirmation so phoned & emailed. I was informed the item was NOT in stock as indicated on the website. I was also "urged" to purchase a warranty for about the same cost of the camera which I declined. I then cancelled my order since the item would not be available for at least 2 months & requested a cancellation #. The customer service rep hung up on me."

"I placed two order with this company may 21.22 and the next day recevied emails to call to verify, salesman was VERY VERY pushy and nasty about buying upgrades. Wanted to sell me a 3 year warranty for 149.00 which i bought elsewhere for 19.99, wanted to sell me Memory cards from 119.00 to 169.00 which sell everywhere for 20.00 to 40.00. wanted to sell me a battery for 59.00 to 119.00 which ONE comes with the camera and sell elsewhere for 20.00 to 40.00. When I told both these guys NO. they HUNG UP THE PHONE with NO good bye, NO thank you, nothing. Then an hour later my orders when into BACKORDERED. When i called to find out why did it Say IN STOCK when i ordered and NOW backorder they refused to answer and said it would be 6 to 10 weeks to get camera. They DONT answer emails or return phone calls. SO i filed a complaint with BBB of New York who suggested i cancel the orders and notify my credit card company. DO NOT BUY from them. IF YOUR order goes into BACKORDER you will NEVER get the item unless you pay for the OVERPRICED Accesories they are pushing. Was told there is NOT even a STORE at the address listed on their customer service information. SO THEY ARE RIP OFF and SCAM ARTISTS, DONT BUY FROM THEM
6/12/2009 update, after telling them i did not want upgrades they CANCELLED my orders without telling me. i have filed complaints with BBB of NY. they are also known as 86th street photo, and Stop & Shop Digital"
