"Just because Office Max is a familiar name with local stores does not mean it can be trusted with your online purchases. I have just been a victim of this company after placing an order with them. They canceled my order 3 days later arguing that they should have charged a higher price on the item I purchased and confirmed by Officemax.com. I don't think a company can get away from any responsibility of honoring a purchasing contract. So stay away from it."

"They offered a great deal with different pricing on two different sized disk drives and then claimed that the different sale pricing on the two different drives were "typographical errors", Such an explanation is completely disingenuous.

If there were no intent of a sale, why would both disk drives be discounted to different prices?
It makes no sense

I am no longer trusting of any advertised deal from office max."

"I ordered a hard drive from Office Max and my credit card was authorized without shipment of the product. I received notification of a backorder several days later. This was clearly an attempt to hold funds on my card and delay further, as stock issues and shipping issues are proven false since OfficeMax decided to cancel 100% of these orders. The attempt to string customers along while holding funds on a charged credit card is unethical business practice, and I will not be doing business with this merchant EVER again; spreading the word about these tactics is very important I intend to let friends & family know as well. We will all be avoiding OfficeMax for the Black Friday sales and holiday shopping to come."

"Short Version - Stay away from them. I ordered a 500GB Toshiba drive. They sent a confirmation and charged my card. Three days later they sent a e-mail saying it was a price mistake and they were not required to honor it. Hundreds of people had the same situation occur.

Wise up OfficeMax,you lost a lot of good customers. If you made a mistake than you should bear the burden and honor it. In the long run you would have gained a lot of good will. Makes you wonder what kind of short sighted upper management they have!

"Ordered a Toshiba HD for $39.99 and just like everyone else, got an email a few days later stating that the order was cancelled because of a price error .. this after I got a confirmation email and after my credit card got charged. This is the second time this company has done this, I should have learned my lesson the first time but I just thought I should give them another chance. I highly suggest that you stay away from this company ... "

"I placed my order on OfficeMax.com for 1 Toshiba external hard drive and the order was confirmed the same day. The offer was up on the OfficeMax.com website for many hours and many thousands of people ordered these drives. 2 days later OfficeMax.com cancelled 100% of these orders and claimed a pricing error. The shady part is that if a patron ordered additional items to get the order total over $50 in order to qualify for free shipping, OfficeMax.com still shipped the additional items.

Modern day bait and switch....lure them in with a loss leader, get them to buy a few other items to qualify for free shipping, then cancel the loss leader and ship out the ancillary items.

Avoid OfficeMax at all costs."

"Absolutely the worst experience ever!!!

I order 3 Logitech MX500 mice.

First, Officemax.com shipped 3 Logitech MX310 mice instead, a much inferior mouse. Then they tried to get me to keep it because there's no way their system can be wrong. After going through multiple supervisors, they now willing to exchange it for the right items.

Well.... the items weren't shipped because they were discontinued. But did OfficeMax call me to tell me that? NO!!! They had me leave the box outside for a week. Because Officemax didn't know when the UPS man can come by and pick it up.

I finally got them to accept the return. I was told to leave the items outside my house, again. Well, it was not picked. I called, they said that there was no record of it being returned, so please leave it outside again. Guess what? I was not picked up again.

Called in again... OK, they'll take back the items and refund my money.

Today, I still haven't gotten a refund because they said I only shipped back 2 of the 3 mice. Dumbasses."

"I purchased a laptop from this store which refused to boot up after only a weeks use. When I returned it, I decided that I would prefer a refund as they state in their "satisfaction guaranteed" that you can return the item within 14 days and they will replace, repair or refund your money. This is a blatant lie, as when I asked for a refund they would not give it as the box had been opened! They state that if you are not satisfied with your purchase you can simply return it. How on earth are you going to know if you are satisfied with an item unless you open the box and have a look?
Their guarantee of satisfaction is not worth the paper it's written on, and I will never purchase another item from Office Max. Buyers beware!! "

"On the 21st of December, 2005, I purchased a Canon SD400 Digital Camera for my mother's Christmas present. First, I tried to purchase it online and the website failed to work on many occasions. After fussing with the site, I decided to call in my order and was told that my product would arrive on Thursday of that same week (Dec. 23rd). I called OFFICE MAX the next day (Dec. 22nd) and found out that my credit card was pending and my order was cancelled. NOONE CALLED ME TO TELL ME THIS. I had to redo the order and someone called to verify my address. After that, my order remained pending and I called the next day only to be told new information: that my order would not arrive until 3 to 7 days because it was coming directly from the vendor. The representative told me that I would get the tracking number on Tuesday of the next week (Dec. 27th), and I called that day was told the same thing: that my package will take 3 to 7 days and that I did not have a tracking number yet, because the product had not left the warehouse yet. I called today (Dec. 28th) and spoke with a supervisor and was told the exact same thing. In addition, the supervisor told me that she did not have the vendor's information (i.e. phone number and full name of corporation). I called again and asked about canceling my order and was told that it would 7 to 10 days for the money to be refunded even though my order had not shipped out. Also, I asked for the phone number of the vendor again and the representative quickly gave me the full name and the phone number, which means the supervisor blatantly lied to me about not knowing the information, as I had suspected. I went to the website of the vendor, BDI Laguna, and they claim to be quick and efficient in deliveries. I plan to call them tomorrow to ask about my order. But i think the problem is mainly on Office Max's side. I am VERY VERY DISPLEASED WITH THE SERVICE. IT WAS AWFUL! I will never ever shop at Office Max again. After more than a week of ordering this product, I have not received the order nor have I obtained a Tracking Number."

"Office Max provided me with horrible service. I received a confirmation on my order but it was canceled due to a 'price mistake'. They offered no compensation for their error, I would most likely never do business with them again. "
