"Ordered a StudioRTA adjustable table (48x30", item# 398248). Was supposed to be delivered 2/9/07 between 8:30am and 5pm. Followed Office Depot's online order tracking status throughout the day. Tracking status began with "You are stop #12. The truck is currently at stop #0 of 20". Later in the morning, status showed "You are stop #-1. The truck is currently at stop #1 of 13". Then later, status showed "You are stop #-1. The truck is currently at stop #4 of 11". And finally at about 7pm, the status showed "You are stop #-1. The truck is currently at stop #12 of 12" but they never delivered my table. This is the second time I've tried to order this table from Office Depot--first ordered on 12/29/06 (order number 369097640-001) to be delivered 1/3/07--and so far, it is a repeat of my first experience with the table not being delivered (finally cancelled the first order). When you call Office Depot's customer service, they say that it's being delivered by a 3rd party as though that relieves Office Depot of any further service. This time I'm pursuing the non-delivery via emailing customer service in hopes of actually receiving my order. Staples has had no problem delivering orders and they have a release form you can download and complete to leave on your door so that the delivery driver can just leave the order if no one is home. Office Depot has no such option which means you have to sit home and wait all day only to have nothing delivered. If Staples had this particular table, I would have ordered it from them. Will update this review when situation is resolved--assuming it will be resolved.

Update 2/13/07: Received an email today from "customer service" that the table I ordered was not in stock which is interesting because I ordered it online (website showed it in stock) AND!!! it was supposedly loaded onto the delivery truck. I guess there is a black hole in the delivery truck that eats these tables.

To further my aggravation, when I called to cancel the order, I was told by the "customer service" rep that someone would call me with the order cancellation confirmation number. I asked to be emailed and was assured that would be no problem. It's now more than 4 hours later and no email and no call. I don't think that Office Depot could work any harder to make things inconvenient and unpleasant. This final screw-up on their part has just reaffirmed my decision to never, ever do business with Office Depot again.

2/20/07: On 2/13/07, I was informed that my cancellation request required a second level of tech support research! On 2/14/07, I received an email that my account would be credited within 2 business days. On 2/20/07 I discovered that rather than crediting my credit card, Office Depot has CHARGED my credit card! Needless to say, I have fired off yet another email requesting that they credit my account properly. It is hard to see how Office Depot could be any more incompetent but they have handily demonstrated that they can be with this latest fiasco."

"I had an offer for a free gift card with purchase. That gift card has yet to arrive despite countless phone calls, emails and live chats. Rajeswari Hariharan & Saranya-Kumar promised repeatedly it would come, but it never does. Rajeswari Hariharan & Saranya-Kumar just string you along until you get fed up enough to give up. This is what I get for doing business with an India based customer service group.

"The online system is totally clueless about the inventory of the local store, or the store is totally clueless about their online selling records. The online orders are not held by stores. A total waste of time and gas."

"Bought a keyboard, was assured by sales associate # 605257 that when i bought the extended warranty for 13$ that all i would have to do was set up my warranty online or call them. When i asked again to be sure that all i had to do was bring back the keyboard to the store and they would replace it, he ASSURED me thats all i had to do. a few days ago (1-28-12) the "L" key broke off, so i took the keyboard back to office depot. the sales associate told me firmly that no, they dont replace the item there, and that i had to go back online, or call them to have a shipping label sent to my email.. so i could print out a shipping label myself, box up the product myself, and then send it to them back through the mail and wait for the new one to arrive. When i complained about employee #604257 and told them i was quite upset over all this hassle, and could they PLEASE make sure their employees are trained in warranty knowledge, I gave the associate employee number of the person who assured me that i only needed to bring it back to the store, he didnt even write it down, or get a store manage to help me. he just said "NEXT" and that was that. I will NEVER go back to any office depot again,"

"I ordered a printer from Officedepot.com. All aspects of service were excellent except for shipping. The printer was shipped in its retail box. There was no invoice or receipt attached to the box. The outside of the box was bent up and the stryofoam holders on the inside of the box were all broken. Now - the printer inside appears to be in good working condition - although I am waiting on a USB cable to test it. Although I realize that the fault may also lie with UPS, I think the shipping process may need change."

"Office Depot is Horrible Company to deal with. You would think that since its a well known store everything will be fine, but thats just a cover up. Horrible Customer Service, Horrible Delivery times and Horrible Delivery Tracking. I ordered an item and it said it will be delivered in 3 days. I waited 4 days, and status still said "3days delivery pending". I never received the item so I cancelled my order after waiting almost 2 weeks. Thats not it. I ordered another item thinking the first mishap was just an error, I was WRONG!! The item I ordered was to arrive in 2 days. The deliver day came, I kept checking the status and it said "You are #27 in the delivery, the truck is at #20 out of #60 stops. I waited and waited, never received the order. I checked the status again and it said, "Not Delivered, Ran out of time". What? It was still at stop #20 for about 8hours. Dont bother calling Customer Service, it is a joke. Worst experience I have ever had with a company. NEVER AGAIN!!!"

"yes, Virginia, office depot does indeed suck. I bought two Hannsg 19 wide screen displays for a great price. about three days after hooking up the one up, the screen goes all wonky. after verifing it was a faulty cable, i took the tech support reps advice and returned the monitor for a different one just in case. here where the fun starts.

I used my debit card for the initial purchase's. well i take the one defective monitor back and they offer the display model since they didnt have any others in the store. this is after verifing that they should have received one "on tommorrows truck". yeah i want the display when i paid for new. especially with the big greasy fingerprints all over the screen. so they offer me another monitor with me paying the difference. no thanks.
they checked the warehouse inventory which said that there were 108 available and they could have it to me on monday. sounds good, right? wrong!!!
i place the order from the warehouse, at which point the csr declines to inform me that all refunds take 5 business days to process thanks to the crap banking system that office depot still uses. anywho, she the gladly enters in my card info(remember, debit card) for the order from the warehouse.(still promising monday delivery). i say to myself thats it all good and happily depart thinking my new monitor will be here monday, no prob.

check my bank account monday morning and about crap myself, seems that they will charge you right away even with zero in stock but remember it takes 5 business day to process the chargeback. on a credit card this probably wouldnt present a problem, except i used my debit card. big problem, now 111.00 negative in my account. freaking sweet!!! i love it when my bank charges me overdraft fee's.

i called twice, once to express my extreme displeasure over the whole charging before shipping thing and the second time when i noticed that it would not be shipped until monday NOV 27th. needless to say i was not pleased as this is my only comp and i have papers to write for school as finals are next week. sorry they cant do anything except explain to me that suddenly the warehouse decided to ship all 108 monitors it had in stock at the same time. highly unlikely you may say, i agree. they did offer me the greasy fingered display again or another monitor they had in stock as long as i pay the difference. again how could i pay the difference whulst owing the bank 111.00 and any overdraft fees thanks to the corporate banking system they still use. yeah i cant.

so now i'm told that they should receive one tommorrow "on the truck" which is exactly what they told me on saturday. i have no comp at home so i have to fight for time on one of the school computers and try to deal with them finding me a monitor. yay!!! way to screw me office depot. was going to buy a desk, chair, monitor and hard drives from them this weekend but i think i wont be able too due to the cluster their inept banking system has caused me. oh and the funniest part is that 6 years ago i actually worked for them briefly. ha ha ha"

"EDIT (082106): Went to the nearest OD in Hawaii and was told that the online information was completely wrong. In Hawaii, apparently, OD does not operate any warehouses and all merchandise is shipped out from a store's stockroom. To make matters worse, the store's actual inventory is different from their computerized inventory, which is completely different from what the online inventory shows. So, when I ordered online and the items showed in-stock, they actually didn't have anything. The assistant manager found two of the items in my order, which hadn't been entered into the system yet, and he pulled them aside and shipped them to me separately from the desk, which has yet to come in. I may have to wait weeks. So much for the CSR's fluff about 14 business day guaranteed delivery and the supposed "warehouse issues" that they were having. LIARS! Do NOT do business with OD online if you live in Hawaii! The savings are NOT worth the hassle.

Purchased furniture online (a computer desk and two bookshelves). Order was slated to be delivered on the 8th of August, 2006. I waited at home for the delivery all day, but nothing came. Checked online at 2pm Hawaii time (5pm pacific), and sure enough the delivery date was changed to the following day. I called customer service and spoke to a woman (sounded Filipino) who told me that the warehouse experienced some troubles and that the order would not come until the next day. On the 9th, I experienced the SAME issue. The man I spoke to claimed that if I'd called two hours earlier, he could have called Miami, where the shipping company is headquartered. Well, that would have been nice, but I only found out 10 minutes prior to my call that the order was being delayed again. I called customer service on the 10th @ 12pm and was told that the warehouse was claiming to be experiencing delays and that the order might not come today. He said he'd file a customer service claim in order to help me find a reasonable resolution to this issue. I've wasted 3 days, sitting in my condo, waiting on Office Depot to deliver. If I were in school or, god forbid, working right now, I would be beyond pissed. As it is, I'm livid about the waste of time. Do NOT order from OfficeDepot.com if you need something shipped. Their scheduled delivery dates are completely meaningless and they will do NOTHING, beyond obfuscating, to rectify the situation. In-store pick-up only, if that."

"I shopped at Office Depot stores before. Like their competitors, their prices were similar. I have no problem going into their store. I found a coupon code that would save me $20 so I decided this time around, I would order online, which included free shipping.

Anyways, my order was accepted and confirm with an email and an order number. The next day I received a call and was told that I needed to re-enter my credit card information over the phone. I told them that I already submitted that information over the internet and I am not going to give private information over the phone because they can't prove who they are. As far as I was concern, they can be some scammers calling me and I told them "NO".

Anyways, two days after my order. It seems I won't be getting that purchase after all. They cancelled the order. So I am assuming those people were really from Office Depot. If I had to do it again, would I have given them my information over the phone to save my purchase? NO, I still will not give private information to strangers over the phone....especially if I already gave my information over at their website.

I will never shop from them again."

"I couldn't agree more with DBB. I don't understand all the negative feedback. How can you have anything seriously negative to say about Office Depot?

It's like saying, I give McDonalds a poor rating for their bad hamburgers.

In any case, I've been using them for my home office needs for the past several years, on and off line. I can't say their prices are the cheapest, but with the coupons they're a great deal.

In any case, I don't have anything but positive things to say about Office Depot. Or Staples or Office Max either. But I do have more experience with Office Depot. "
