"If you get everything right, and don't have to contact their "praised" customer support, then you might be OK, but in case you need to talk to them, you are up for a show of rude "scam" artist and guys who tell you one thing and than do something different. I got this P-40 with FMSmodel ESC 18A on which is printed that s for 2-3 Lipos. So the manufacturer states it's for both lipos. I wanted to put 3s, and the ESC doesn't start the motor, I called the online support, and Jimmy was my guy. He told me, no problem, I'll email you the istructions for reprogramming the ESC. Will i need something else other than my Tx, nope, everything you need to do is in the instructions. 3 hrs passed, I am calling them again, Jimmy's there, and he told me that I'll get the info at the end of the day??? Ok, finally, I got an email, dear customer, the ESC doesn't work with 3s battery. Nothing else. WOW, how comes, the Esc says 3 cell, but nitroplanes.com decides differently. I called again (online) and now Sam is there (I was scared where this will go, since I read on couple of reviews that this person is rude, ignorant, and impossible to talk to) Oh, those guys were right to the point. I started sms-ing with him. First, I didn't put my order number, so he says that the ESC needs to be programmed, but I might need a program card, etc, and when i gave him the order number, he probably pulled the email they sent me, and change the song "esc is not compatible with 3s". What? I kept telling them, the ESC is labeled, he kept telling me, we have nothing like that on the website. Whatever I said, he was it is not on our websitte. Who cares about your webiste, you as seller should know your product and by selling it, you should stay behind it. he kept trowing 3-4 word sentences, and our conversation was scrolling faster that I can read it. I wanted him to accept the fact that the product I bought from them is for 3s and they should acknowledge that this item is faulty, and see what we can do, and he kept saying that they are behind only what is on their website. but on the website they don't say anything about anything, not the kV of the motor, not the Amps of the ESC, nothing. So, I even made an analogy, that I buy Audi A6 and receives a A6 with motor of A4, than he as seller is not responsible for that. Nope, we are the middleman, we sell other manufacturers products. Then you have to stay behind them, since you chose to sell them, not me. He even called me on my phone, since I said that they are scamming people. I thought in person we might get something resolved. Wow, how wrong I was. The guy never stops talking, yaping, yaping, yaping an no sense in anything he sais. I started talking, and he was, don't be rude, wait for me to finish. I waited and waited, and when he was done, I started talking and in the middle of my first sentence, he started yaping again. I told him, let me finish i waited for you and now who's rude. Listen to his response, CHOP, CHOP, time is money. Can you imagine, this professional approach. I asked for RMA, and he told me that there will be 15% restocking fee and the shipping is non-refundable. Amazing, and than he is telling me that they are not scammers, Cmon, who are they kidding. Scammers of the worst kind. I am still waiting for the RMA, since when I got back form the phone call to the computer, the chat was closed by the operator. Guys, it's up to you, it's your money. These was my experience with them. And my 3rd plane purchased from them. I was expecting little bit more from them. Jimmy, learn your stuff, and Sam (or Sam's boss), trai a little courtesy, at the end you are support staff, and have to learn how to deal with people. Your approach damages your bosses business. I hope he reads these complains. Have a nice day."
"I have purchased a number of products from Nitro Planes over the years, all 120 scale,[P-47D Thunderbolt,P-40 WarHawk,F-4U corsair,Cessna 182 Skylane] and have had great success with them. Before purchasing my planes, I read all the reviews I can find on line and in particular the Building Bashes on the R/C universe web site. I research the Pro's and Con's and analize the builder's problems and suggestions for the model I am interested in. It's true that you have to use "some of your own builder's common sense" when putting these ARF's together because there are occassions when the directions leave something's to question. I have found it a good practice to use a standard formula to set your CG as this is often not correct. The hardware is good but I will often make a judgment call when deciding to upgrade more critical elements. These plane's fly very nicely when set up correctly but you have to use some judgment of your own.I have only crashed one [my P-47D] and that was my fault [Dipped when I should have Doodled and was to low to recover]. When I recovered the plane I was suprised to discover how tough it really is. I was able to rescue and repair the front of the fuse [fiberglassed the damaged section and doctored up the foam core wing with some foam and plywood sheeting]. I actually crashed on some Rock's and everyone at the feild thought the damage would be extensive. Boy! were we all suprised at the quality of the product.Since then a few of the guy's have also bought simular ARF's from Nitro Planes. I have found the customer service to be very good and even when I couldn't reach them by phone, the online chat customer service worked very well [even when I called to cancell a back ordered product]. The Cowl for my P-47D was out of stock but when it was restocked, I got an E-mail and it was on it's way. I rarely take the time to write a product review but after noticeing how some people are quick to "Diss this company" for damaged shippments [usually the fault of the Delivery Company, or somthing missing, which happens occassionaly with all company's, or due to their own error of thinking you can just slap an ARF together and go flying] without the cautious approach of the 6 P's[ Prior Planning Prevent's Piss Poor Proformance], I thought I would put in a good word for the company. True, there was a time when they were not up to parr but somthing has happened in the past few years and they have listened to customer complaints and made many improvements to their products because of it. My R/C budget is even tighter now and I can't afford to throw money away. YOU DO GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR IN LIFE, but in my personel experince, NITRO PLANE's gives you a lot for your $$$. Thanks,Tony Harris. "
"BEWARE !! I THINK NITRO PLANES STINKS AS FOR CUSTOMER RELATIONS . I RECENTLY GOT A PT-19 FROM THEM AND PAID $139.00 PLUS FOR THE ARF KIT , I TRIED FOR SEVERAL MONTHS TO ORDER SCALE GEAR WITH THIS KIT , GAVE YOU THEY WILL NEVER HAVE THE GEAR . I CALLED AND ASKED FOR A CREDIT , BUT NOT TO GET CASH , TO SEND ME ANOTHER KIT AND GIVE ME $39.00 CREDIT AGAINST A ANOTHER PT-19 KIT . THEY REFUSED TO WORK WITH ME , HAD THE NERVE TO OFFER 15% OFF THE NEXT TIME I BUY FROM THEM , I TOLD THEM I WANTED TO RETURN THE KIT BECAUSE THEY WERE BEING SO NICE ABOUT IT , I WAS TOLD I WOULD BE SENT A E MAIL WITH INSTRUCTIONS ABOUT RETURNING MY KIT . THEY NEVER SENT ANY . BEWARE!! THEY ARE NOT GREAT TO DEAL WITH , I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN !!"
"I have ordered from Nitroplanes/hobbypartz/Xheli several times. Out of the 6 or 7 orders I have placed with them I have had 2 defective parts. Both times I was able to resolve the issue, one time through rcdiscuss and one time through thier online chat (which is great when it is online).
You do have to pay the return shipping on RMAs. Deal with it. For example, one bad item was a CT6B 6 channel 2.4ghz radio with reciever. I had to pay 8 bucks to send it back. I got the new one 5 days later. So I paid 40 dollars total for a kick butt programmable 6 channel radio. If I had gone with Spectrum it would have cost $200 bucks for a similar setup, so I can deal with the extra 8 bucks because I am still WAY ahead...
As far as the product quality, aside from the 2 dead/defective items everything has been great quality. The Sky Lipos rock, My pair of CT6B radios are great. I have 10 of the 3 dollar servos that all work fine, A wonderful charger, several micro helis, 2 airplanes, engines, and ESCs all which work great and were dirt cheap.
Tips: 1. Do a LOT of research before buying something from them to see if other people are having issues and what the issues are.
2. Watch the videos. If Tony or Anthony seem nervous or try to gloss over something that caused a crash or broke during normal usage beware. For example, watch the Airfield 1400mm Piper cub review where Tony breaks the landing gear and says "hopefully Airfield will fix this flaw before they ship these." Did they? Probably not, but you won't know until you buy it. See if the broken item is something that you could modify yourself or if it is a fatal flaw. On a piper cub bad landing gear is fatal, on a P51, you could belly land it in grass and still have lots of fun.
3. Keep in mind that you are getting this stuff CHEAP, so it is junk in some cases. If you want more reliable products, don't buy Dynam, buy E-flight. You'll get quality and support, but your gonna pay through the nose.
4. Watch other peoples videos for the product you are interested in. I wanted the 800mm mustang, but after watching tons of videos of people having all kinds of tip stall issues I decided against it.
5. CHECK YOUR ITEMS THE MINUTE YOU GET THEM, and make sure they are complete and function properly. You have 7 days to contact them with problems.
Its too bad they aren't very good at customer service. Their prices are great and they have some really excellent products mixed in with some duds. I think they try to weed out the bad stuff and improve their stock. I have watched them for 2 years now and it seems like they dump the junkier items by not restocking them. Then again they are dumping them on their customers, so please make sure you look for real user reviews before you buy something.
For what its worth, I would order from them again."
"Just received my Super Cub PA-18. It seems to be a good value for the money. Went together very easily. Have no idea how it flys since it came with a defective radio or receiver, can't determine which. Nitro informs me that I have to foot the bill to get a replacement. I find this very unacceptible. I also ordered a second battery and received a battery that has a different power lead. I would assume that since I ordered a second unit for this plane I would have got something that did not have to be altered, silly me."
"Don't buy from this company. The customer service is worse than Wells Fargo and AT&T. My order was not processed correctly. I called customer service and waited on hold for nearly an hour, then I was hung up on when I asked for a manager. This was supposed to be a fathers day gift for my Dad but due to the order being messed up and other delays the order won't even be processed until after Father's day. The price difference negligible as compared to other hobby shops. You are better off buying from someone else."
"Anyone can sell something to anyone on the web, but what comes after the sale is the service and Nitro Planes don't know the meaning of that word. My order arrived without a problem but the item had a problem apparently with the receiver. Item involved is # (93A16-AirField-SkyGrey-RTF). There was no way to make the ailerons work. 15 seconds after a long wait (at my expense) and the guy showed signs of hostile treatment. He said that I might have wired the servos wrong. When I told him that the plane especially the receiver came factory wired, he didn't believe it and moved to my wiring on the wings. When I told him I did it as per the instructions, he managed to change the subject to ''you ordered an plane to advanced for you'' Darn it, the receiver came already wired; go to the warehouse and see for yourself. Because I saw no reason to be no longer polite, I had to tell the guy that gluing a wing and plug the cable next to it was something even a kid could do.
At that point he told me that he was going to send me a video tutorial on the plane and assembly and finished the phone call. 10 minutes and my inbox got the email. To my dismay, the video is a You Tube user like you and me unpacking and putting together the plane. That's not all, it wasn't an official video at all and the plane although an F-16, it was not the same model they sold me. They don't have a toll free number, I have no plans on making a long distance call to be treated like crap. I have sent them a warm email after their ''support'' email with a crappy home video on You Tube. I have already started a dispute with my CC.
I wonder is how hard is for that people to be polite. They lost my business for sure. If you are planing to order something from Nitro Planes, pray you don't need support from them. I have an ''unflyable'' plane in my garage. Save your hard earned money, get it somewhere else or buy locally. After all, no support, no toll free number and shipping pretty much is better to deal locally and face to face. Most of the negative comments from Nitro Planes are from support. I should have read more carefully before placing any orders.
IN A NUTSHELL Shipping was fairly fast and there seems to be no problem when ordering. In fact, previous to my order I called for some info on another item and the person who was a gal, was very courteous. The problem is not price, shipping or ordering on the phone, no pressure there either. If you don't need support for the stuff you get from Nitro Planes, good for you. But when support is Needed, they are arrogant and don't follow up. You are basically on your own. As of September 11, 2010, now answer from them to resolve the probelm, no RMA, no NOTHING. At this point, I don't care, my bank is already taking action against these crooks."

"I purchased 5 items (3 separate orders) through Nitroplanes. The first purchase through them was at the AMA show and which has a defective electronic component but they did nothing to help me out despite contacting their support. They said that purchases made through the AMA show was not supported but nowhere did they state this at the AMA show, otherwise, I would never have bought it from them. They probably stated this because their business did not pay business tax on this items since I purchased it with cash with no sales receipt. After filing a complaint with BBB, they finally sent me replacement part. On another order, I had 2 defective servos but they sent me the wrong servos. I cannot recommend Nitroplanes because of the lack of support that I've received."
"I bought the exceed Rc f18. Plane came and the design had no wing spars. I called and after 2 hours on hold talked to a guy that told me this set up worked fine for the company pilots. Well it didn't work fine for me, now I'm trying to get a refund I told them that I was told I was told the set up worked fine, and they are telling me I am lying. Here is the funny part. The guy that told me it works fine for company pilots is the same one telling me I'm lying. Funny huh?. F this company. They are rip off artists. They should all be arrested for fraudulent business practices and theft. I will never use this company again. Please if you read this I'm sure the good posts are employees. Don't buy from this company........ ok after some complaining on Facebook I have had my problem resolved and was told I would have to pay return shipping, but they would exchange my plane for another one of equal value, well almost equal value. I still think their phone manners suck a fatty but the gentleman named James I spoke with resolved my issue. So I will give them another shit and I am once again satisfied."
