"After the connection was made the technical engineer got right to work in testing and cleaning up my computer program files. He explained to me what he was doing the whole time. He worked for 2 hours with me and my computer and got it working better. The problem I was having with connecting my HP printer/scanner was partially fixed when the service called ended. I was still not able to scan to the computer. Printing was back. He walked me through the set up procedures very patiently over the phone. He referred me back to HP for any further specific help after he was done with the Microsoft side of my system. Using what I learned by watching the technician, I did further clean-up and rebooting. I finally was able to load the full software and drivers 2 days later. The system has been working since then. I was able to re-create the conditions for the original scanner problem and repair it again on my own. It was triggered by the feeder on the printer when I tried to scan multiple pages. I pulled a sheet off the feeder to turn it the right direction as it was almost ready to go. That triggered the printer to stop and tell me to re-load the documents. At that point, the printer/scanner lost contact with the computer. The feeder on the printer pulls sheets through unevenly and I get crooked copies. I need to find out how to get that fixed.

"I thought I was calling Microsoft support to report a scam call. The person I spoke with was very nice but never said this is not Microsoft. He asked if I was having problems with my computer and I had a couple of small ones. He did a search and pointed out a few things and the next thing I was signing up for a one year service contract. I will say that the tech person that he did switch me over to was very hard to hear and understand and in my opinion a bit rude. The problems were fixed in my computer, but I do feel that I was scammed into spending $200 for a 1 year service contract. I never really knew I was not actually speaking with Microsoft until I printed out the receipts and saw "My Phone Support"."
