"I work in the customer services field and have for most of my life and I can sure tell you that Macmall doesn't have a clue about Customer Service.
I placed an order on Monday night using their offered credit line. On Tuesday I happened to read a couple of forums that said that they had problems with Macmall "holding" their orders and not letting them now. So I decide to call and check on my order.
I was told by the customer service rep that my order had a hold on it. They then transfered me to the card services line. Luckily I had her give me the number first because of course they disconnected me. So I call and get ahold of a person in card services who says that the hold is on my account because I am having my order shipped to my place of work.
They then call me at my place of work to confirm that it is legit. Okay I can understand this but it is kind of funny because they pulled my credit report so surely they can tell from it that the address I gave them is my place of work. But at anyrate the lady says that the hold was removed and that I would have no further problems. (Yeah right).
I call back to the customer service number around 40 minutes later to double check and make sure that the hold has cleared. I was told yet again that it still had a hold on it and once again I was transferred to the card services number (and cut off again).
So I call the card services number again myself and talk to someone else who says that they didn't see any holds on the order and that my order was fixing to ship.
A number of hours later the website still showed that the order hadn't shipped (though amazingly a seperate order that I had with them did ship). So I try to call their support line but didn't get an answer so I emailed them (of which I never did hear back from).
So this morning (Wednesday) I see my order was still IN PROCESS so I call and get the sales department who couldn't do anything for me but tell me that there was still a hold and that I would have to call back after 8am Pacific.
So I call back after 8 their time and talk to a customer services rep who says yet again that there is a hold on the account. He fixes to transfer me to card services but I tell him that I give up and want the order cancelled. After the normal (oh please don't do that) routine my order is cancelled though on the site it still shows as In Process. So at this point I half expect my order to still suddenly show up even though I cancelled it. They will not give you any cancellation confirmation number so you are just left to their word which from my experience is worth extremely little.
So please do yourself a favor and safe yourself a bunch of headache and look elsewhere because Macmall doesn't seem to want the business."
"I ordered from Macmall, it accepted my orders as the product was available with them (in stock). 2 days later I also received email from their credit card processing department to verify my details. (This also means they had the product in stock for me while doing that), The same day after couple of hours of receiving the email I did the verification and they told me that it was successful and the item will be shipped. Next day when I check the status of the order and it says cancelled, I called in couple of times and in the middle it would disconnect or while transferring it would disconnect, finally I was able to talk to a CSR and they said that the product is no longer in stock and my order is cancelled. -->I don't understand if during the CC verification it was available for me why would it be rejected same day later (it not like I had not paid the money, they had my money the hold on my CC account) so I was sure going to buy it --> If they don't have sufficient stock in hand how could you sell a product and then later say product not available. I also had another order with them which was also canelled for the same item. (As mentioned limit was 2, so I ordered only 2 not more from macmall) As a customer I was waiting and expecting on the product and had promised someone for it. Also being responsive to the customer calls the CSR would not respond to query and when asked to transfer to manager just disconnected. I did not expect a reputed firm like this would do something like this sell products and then not fulfill them, I am really unhappy. "
"Purchasing from the website is great, your phone customer service is horrible... I have bought more than 10 computers from you over the years, every year the service gets worse... Most likely I will not purchase from you again."
"Successfully got my order in for a hot item right after it went live, hours before dozens of confirmed phone orders. Dozens of people who ordered after me received their order, while they "lost" my order for 3 days, and then canceled it after they were out of stock. Complete incompetence, and now I am empty handed"
"POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. CALL IN FOR THREE TIME VERY UNHELPING. TWO CALL THEY HANG UP. ONE CALL HE TRANSFER TO THE THIRD PERSON. NO QUESTION BEEN ANSWER. NO MORE SHOPING WITH MAC MALL. DELIVERY WRONG SOFTWARE. $352.68 SOFTWARE NOW IS GARBAGE."
"Don't ever buy from this store. I received Malfunction ipod video. I payed for new device, but it looks like they sent me refurbished, now I keep coming back to Soho Mac store only to get another junk malfunction ipod. Don't do my mistake."
"Honestly, so far I am not impressed. My laptop will not be shipping any time soon. By the time it does it will be about 3 weeks after I ordered it. Had I known there was going to be such a long delay I would have gone elsewhere. Not sure I'll order from MacMall again."
"I recently bought a 42" LCD TV from MacMall. It was the cheapest price online that I could find. I am happy with the TV, and the shipping cost and time, but it was the hardest money that I ever spent.
After completing my order I received an email telling me that they had a problem processing my credit card - a debit card that I have used countless times for online purchases without problem. They said they needed more verification. The whole ordeal included me faxing them proof of residency, the front and back of my card and a letter verifying that I wanted to spend the money.
It took a whole day to give them my money, and it was very aggravating speaking with them since the woman I spoke with couldn't speak English very well.
Once I made the rough transaction I was satisfied with my purchase. I would probably buy again from them, but I will have 18 forms of identification and 24 major credit cards ready next time!"
"BEWARE: Rebate promises are not always honored! I followed all of their instructions for properly submitting a rebate request (4 different submissions totaling about $260 in all). The next week I recieved a letter from Mac Mall telling me I was not eligable for ANY rebates. After calling and being put on hold forever (call center in Phillipins somewhere) I was told this letter was a mistake and they would email me confirmation the checks would indeed be coming. Well no email confirmation ever came and not untill after calling 4 more times to different operators did I ever get an email confirmation. Well then I waited the 8 weeks that Macmall claims it takes to get you a check.During this time I did recieve two small checks totaling about $60, but the big $150 was still convienently missing after the 8 weeks (along with another $50 that was to come from HP). Long story short I had to call several more times (being put on hold FOREVER) before I ever got them to cough up my $150. They probably fiqure not as many customers are as dedicated as I am and can easily rip them off. After all of my troubles I dont think it was worthwhile saving the money I did with these con artists. p.s. sill waiting on my check from HP after more than 3 months!"
