"I placed this order from Canada and to be fair I was forewarned that international shipments may come from multiple locations and i may be subject to additional charges at the border etc.
I made the order on July 31st and and received the first part of the shipment within a few days. The packing slip clearly stated what was in this shipment and the 3 items that were to come. The 3 items to come were a bag of 75 Cat5E Keystones,20 F Keystones and 50 RG6 compression Connectors.
I received the second part of the order today from UPS and was asked for $70 COD for brokering fees,taxes....border stuff.That was the fee to pass that second box over the border. The first box cost $115 to pass over the border. So $186 to pass a $630 order over the border in 2 shipments plus the original $30 shipping fee from the vendor.
The second box did not contain the 50 compression connectors I ordered but this time the packing slip clearly states that the 50 compression connectors were sent with the first shipment.
Sigh....
In my original order I could not find RJ11 keystones on the web page and included a message indicating that I was interested in trying the products and if they in fact had RJ11's I would take 50 of those to try as well. When my order came, 50 RJ11's were in the first box so someone is reading and paying attention to the orders.
I cannot comment on the quality of the cutters (spring,blade life etc) but i can tell you on first try they work as well as any i have tried. The UTP stripper had a nice touch for the gauge of stuff i use.The keystones look solid. The Wire Surgeon scissors look like good steel(Solingen).
I ordered products I wasn't really too concerned about returning (keystones etc) and a small order of about $600 but I did not take the web pages warning seriously enough about shipping from multiple locations. I figured a few keystones and connectors had to be in stock at one location but I guess I figured wrong.
The UPS rep on the phone told me the charges were based solely on the shipments value but I was charged $70 COD on $199 part of the order and $115 on the $431 part of the order.
I am disappointed that my $630 order ended up costing almost $900 CAD after shipping and I still don't get my 50 compression connectors to play with. :)
I have not called or contacted the vendor regarding the missing compression connectors so I cannot post how cordially the request for my missing connectors was met. :)
1. I just discovered this at 6:00PM this evening when i opened the second box and read the packing slip...and
2. I probably wont bother as I'm sure UPS will charge me $25 to get a $25 box of compression connectors over the border. There has to be a minimum broker fee right?
So to wrap things up....ordering stuff from Canada for small guys like myself is a bad idea.
This is not the fault of the vendor and the warnings about additional charges should be taken very seriously.
As I said, the stuff I did receive looks good so far and if I was an American I would likely be receiving the third and final part of my order any day.

Edit: I was contacted by Tony from Lanshack this morning and he expressed concern over my review as it seemed to him (and me) that a 2 rating was not fair as my complaints were about UPS and fees not Lanshack. I agree. I had nothing but good things to say about the products and was only posting as a warning to other Canadians to take LanShack's International Shipping warnings seriously but somehow I managed to get this rated a 2 when I was really only dissatisfied with the shipping costs. Not a fair review of this business or it's products.As far as the "missing" compression connectors go Tony assured me they were on back order and would have been shipped in a day or 2. I am glad he called because he offered to ship the missing connectors to me expedited at his expense so I wouldn't face more broker fees.That is cool.
I am attempting to redo the review so Lanshack gets a score that fairly reflects the service and products for this site.

Final Edit: My compression connectors arrived from UPS today! I was contacted by UPS yesterday but with a recorded message about acting as broker but no demand for more $$ and they arrived today at no further cost to me.
It seems to me that this is a company that cares about its customers.I am in Canada and, because of the way the shipping situation is, Tony knows I will not likely be buying from him in the immediate future; but he still went out of his way to ensure that I was happy and that I received my products. My initial order was processed and delivered in days across the border. I had a note added about the RJ11 connectors that were not a part of my order and a human being read the note and added the connectors to my order. I received a personal call from Tony so its obvious he takes these reviews and his customers opinions seriously.
If I lived anywhere 40 miles South of here I would order all my gear from Lanshack.

"Excellent service and products. Did not know exactly what I needed to complete the job I was working on and the knowledgeable staff made excellent suggestions that have proven to be exactly what I needed. Ordering was fast and even though I had custom assemblies they shipped in a very timely manor and i was working with the products a few days later.
All in all an excellent company with quality service and good products.

"I placed my order on 12/24/2009 for some bulk Cat.6e cable. After waiting several days for some sort of communication from Lanshack, I called in to customer service for assistance. On this
particular day, 12/30/09, my credit card had not been charged, and my order had not been shipped.

The conversation was actually pleasant. The person on the phone explained that nothing would ship until after the first of the year, mainly due to the fact that the warehouse had been, and was going to be closed until after the first of the year.

I accepted the terms. It is the holidays after all. I found that the next day, however, 12/31/09, my credit card was charged for $746.09, which was the full amount of my order. I thought to myself, oh boy, they must have shipped. The level of excitement was grand, to say the least.

The wire in my home is in desperate need of repair. It is beginning to fail big time, so I really need this cable, like A.S.A.P.. Being the patient and understanding man I am, I never said I was not inquisitive.

I called and spoke with this same fellow, and
again asked him if my order somehow got shipped, since I was billed and all. This is where things fell apart. I was both disappointed and shocked as I sat there on the phone and listened to this man chew me out.

He did not want to hear a word I had to say. He acted like he somehow needed to be on the defensive about his company over a simple question about an order. The whole thing was silly, when all I called for was to see if something had changed with my order since my previous call.

He went off on this tangent of accusations about my intentions, told me to take my business elsewhere, and after one last attempt at trying to tell him that I just called to see if my order shipped since my card was charged, he hung up on me.

This man has a VERY poor attitude. He acts like he's totally nuts. That is your customer service, folks. The product line and prices might be good and all, but without a good company to back it up, you have nothing. I can only imagine what would have happened had the order actually went through, but to have the merchandise be defective.

I called my bank for them to do a reverse charge on my credit card. I don't know whether to be angry, upset, or somewhere in between with today's events. This was certainly not expected, so great disappointment and shock are up there somewhere in the top 10.

One thing that always rings true, is when someone goes on the defensive for no apparant reason over a simple question, you better run, run as fast as you can. There is something going on there that is not good.

Don't do it folks. If you order with no intention of ever having to call in with questions, and accept the fact that you will get your order whenever, then things may be fine. I just don't know. I don't have to tell you, however, that TERRIBLE customer service means TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

You have been warned...

Folks, this is an update since the merchant responded to my comments. Normally I let a dead horse lye, but the lies this merchant has presented to you could not be ignored. Two things... First of all, why would I give a bad review if a good review is in order? I like to go back to places I trust for future purchases, so it would be stupid for anyone to make false claims against a good company. Second, I called this person on my business line, so everything is always recorded. I can get this over to any of you if you would like to hear how it really went down.

Lastly, my original comments were made before he refunded my money. Yes, he did add some extra money to the refund. I did not ask for this. The entire refund was his idea. I just wanted and needed my order. Repeating myself, being in a pinch, I simply called to see if maybe my order shipped somehow, since I had been charged and all. I was NOT furious about anything. It was a simple question to him.

Don't let this man fool you. He was the one who got furious with me, and it did not take long after once I enquired about my order. He turned a simple, this is how our system works, and no, your order has not shipped, into this rant that I was accusing him of something.

As far as his claims of 99% approval. These people did not place their order at the end of the year, their merchandise was in stock and ready to ship, and they did not have to call in to check on their order like I did. I wonder how it would of went down for everyone else had they needed to deal with customer service.

My original comments stand, and they are accurate and truthful. Don't let any of the comments in this forum, good, or bad, keep you from ordering, or pursuade you to order from this merchant. Think of how many folks there are that do not post their experiences. Just know that depending on how your particular order has to go down, if you have to deal with this person during your transaction, he could very well go off on you as well.

For him to come in here and blatantly lie about how he treated me makes the whole ordeal magnified many times over. Let us not forget that in the end he did charge my credit card with absolutely no idea when he could get my order shipped out. I have never ever had a company charge me before they at least had some idea when my order would ship, not to mention that many don't charge until the very day that it will ship.

I was willing to let that go until he got hateful with me, and tried to make it look like I was doing something wrong. People like that get their chops busted one way or another. Some day his attitude will shut his business down. I've never been so appaled.

I'll say it again. You have been warned.
