"I ordered a product that after several weeks was told it was no longer made by the company. This is fine so i was asked if i wanted a refund. I answered yes and to this date - August 21, 2010 - i have not recieved a refund. Many phone calls were made 2 were answered, one told to wait a few more days, 2nd was should be any day now. 5 months later nothing... now no call go answered, live chat - no one available - fax to company demanding my refund has had no results. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY - they are scammers. I will be filing with Visa to get my money back on Monday and chalk this one up to a learning experience. Look elsewhere with a repitutable company before you purchase.

Feb 2011 - still no refund from this horrible company, still not answering the phone. Its time for the BBB and a lawyer. IM DONE HERE."

"Drove 125 miles and and delivered my pc for updating. Work was to upgrade processor and install my copy of Windows 7 Pro. Invoice was waiting for me and I paid via AMEX. Six days later called and was told my work was not done as yet but that Doug would call me that day. for the next 14 days I placed at least 50 phone calls to the local number and got only voice mail Placed 50 phone calls to the 877 number and got only voice mail. Sent at least 20 e-mails to their listed njumber with no reply. When I accessed their site with my account password, I was told that I had no work pending. Had local police check out store and was told that it was closed but that there was visible merchandise and signs of recent activity and that I had to wait. Called AMEX and stopped payment. Sent another e-mail threatening BBB complaint and on Tuesday, May 18, got a voice mail from Doug stating he had been out of town for a couple of days and that my computer would be shipping on
Wednesday May 19 with tracking info coming to my via e-mail. No such information as yet. Am a competition photographer and loss of my computer has caused me to miss three entry deadlines. The work - when it comes - is great, but this is not acceptable. Willing to upgrade review when - and if - I ever get my computer back.
Update May 25. Drove another 125 miles to check on my missing computer. Neighbors said that there had been nobody there for at least ten days. Filed a complaint with Rockville Center Police, a criminal complaint with the Nassau County DA and a detailed complaint with the Nassau County Consumers Affairs. Am contemplating legal action but will wait for another week while the wheels of justice start tracking these people down.
Doug, if you are reading this, it's time to man-up."

"I have the same issue as some people below. Customer service is seriously lacking. Spoke to Doug once (after 3 days of trying to get in touch w/ someone) and was told my comp was done and just going thru the tests and should be ready by Tuesday. Its now Fri and still 'processing', it has been stuck on stage 6 for 3 days.
I could understand all this if it was a complex build.. Its not its their most basic computer.
Will update this review if I ever get my computer.


EDIT- Finally got the computer after leaving an E-mail saying if I couldnt get a response I would contact the Better Business Bureau..They responded by shipping out the computer the next day.
First time buyers WILL be wary if a company does not respond or answer their phone.
The product itself is nice and what I ordered. Only complaint w/ it, is no documentation on the computer itself. (Aside from the mother board)
They give you the drivers disk and mother board User guide along w/ a chipset disk for the mother board.
The comp is quiet and looks good.
Changed my rating from a 1 to a 4. Would be a 5 if Customer Service was a tad more helpful.
Might even buy from them again.. Ill just make sure its about a month in advance."

"Not impressed so far. I placed an order for a computer case just over a month ago and it has been stuck in the 'Processing' Status ever since. As stated in other reviews that unfortunately I just now found, they took my money but will not respond to e-mails, messages left through the live chat system or phone calls. I have gotten through to 1 person in the live chat system and was told she couldn't help me but someone would call me back. Of course no one called back. If this is the way customers of LanLabs are treated, I will not ever be shopping their site again.

Update: 3/11/10 - My money was finally refunded. This really doesn't change my review. Customer service was abysmal. I understand you're opening new stores, that doesn't give you the right to forget about your current customers. At the very least please update products to actually say back ordered on your site. That alone could have saved me all this trouble."

"I ordered a LvL 1 Gamer on Dec.11th, 2009. Lan Labs would not respond to email, phone calls or their live chat server (I called the live chat service company and they said Lan Labs didn't use the service anymore :/) Take it off your site then!

I finally got a response about a month later, Jan. 8th 2010. They apologized and said my computer was shipping very soon. My computer came well packaged, safe and in tact. It runs great, I like it a lot. Good value for the money. I've upgraded the graphics card because a 4650 is not a gaming card. Love the computer; highly annoyed with their craptastic response time to contact. I swear it was like they didn't even exist for that month I couldn't get in contact with them.

It's over now and I don't hold much ire towards them. May even use them again, but I'll be calling first to make sure they actually exist next time :).

Update - Dec. 29th, 2010: Still using this computer. Still enjoying it. Upgraded the dual-core that came with it to a AMD Phenom II x4 970 BE @3.5GHz. The motherboard recognized it immediately (I had flashed the BIOS to the most recent version in preparation-- I'd never flashed BIOS before, but the utility from the motherboard's website made it really easy; didn't even need a floppy drive). I've upgraded the 4650 to a 4870 1GB. It's great and should last me awhile longer. I'm still using the RAM and power supply that came with it. The RAM is great for games, and probably won't need upgrading for awhile. The PSU is a 550W ePower (never heard of it), but it seems to work just fine; it's still going strong and has handled my upgrades just fine.

I guess the point is that the motherboard, PSU and RAM are still relevant and functioning well a year later. Even though Lan Labs can sometimes disappear off the face of the Earth, they build good machines. For those looking at the Gamer LvL 1; get it, but upgrade that graphics card to a AMD 6850 or similar.

Note: My tech knowledge is higher than the Average Joe (I can install RAM, Video Cards, CPUs and update my BIOS); but I'm still below the level of being able to build my own system and I'm not an over-clocker."

"We hired Doug with the understanding that he was to put forth a complete solution, hardware, software, and support to ensure that we get our new "server" system up and running, apparenty, all I bought was hardware and that in of itself contributes nothing to addressing our requirements let alone the needs of our company, as discussed with Doug and LanLabs.

As a small business we must rely upon the knowledge and experience of the consulting firms we select to do business with, as we are not IT people we can do no more than set forth our "wants" as related to how we perceive technology improving the efficiency of our business and again, rely upon the guidance of so called IT Professionals, such as Doug, the owner of LanLabs; Unfortunately, I am quite disappionted in Doug and LanLabs and their lack of understanding or interest in our requirements or "wants" LanLabs may very well have the capability to "build" gaming computers but it is obviously that they lack the knowledge and/or experience to address the needs of a business more so as relates to a network.

On a final note, be aware of their pricing policies, as LanLabs apparently, does not "charge" for the extensive amount of work required to set-up a server, particularly, the IT administration set-up; this I've now learned as a result of cancelling the balance of our "order" almost 20 days after we were quoted to have our "system" up and running, and now being told that we are responsible for the cancellation and restocking charges related to the cancellation. Unfortunately, Doug has chosen to threaten to sue us for the monies he believes is due him despite us having nothing more than some useless hardware of which we have paid for, in leiu of seeking an amicable solution. "

" My son wanted a gaming computer for his birthday on 11/20 for his WOW gaming. My budget was around $600.00 which ruled out most systems. Many of the websites that offered lower cost gaming systems seemed pretty shady and had many bad reviews. I finally came upon Lanlabs/ShopL2 and the info on their site impressed me. The Level 1 system had great specs and name brand components and was in my price range so I figured I would give them a try.
I placed an order on 11/1/09.It shipped 11/12/09 and it was del.on 11/14/09. I was worried it might not come in time for his b-day but it came with a week to spare. Shipping was a very reasonable $22.00 for ground shipping and only took 2 days. Other sites were charging $60.00+ for ground shipping.
He opened it up on his b-day and was very impressed. He figured that based on what we were spending that he was going to get just a basic HP or Dell. We set it up,installed his game and he was playing within 30 minutes with no problems. I got the upgraded fans for $35.00 and it is very quiet. We got a Windows 7 rating of 6.3 for processor and ram and 6.4 for graphics. My only minor complaint is that they should include a detailed build sheet listing every component.
The bottom line is that we are very pleased so far with the Level 1 Gamer. I did a lot of research and this system is with out a doubt the best bang for the buck for a budget pre-built system. Well done Lanlabs!

"I bought a PC from LanLabs late last year and I couldn't be any happier. Prior to purchasing a PC from LanLabs, I had a computer that wasn't up to par, performance wise, for the games I had. I'm a huge gamer, so I needed a machine that was fast, able to play all future games, and also that looked cool.

LanLabs gave me a great deal on my PC and I took it. I love it and am very satisfied with what I bought. In a couple of days it'll be a year with this PC from LanLabs.

They have an awesome, friendly and attentive staff. No complaints here, 2 thumbs up for LanLabs."

"I had purchased a gamer level 1 from the Rockville Centre computer store and just had to share my experience! I was able to choose a color for my case (PINK!). They worked with me to make sure it had all the connections I needed for school and work and for only $600 it plays every game I throw at it!

They even cleaned out my laptop for free and showed me how to maintain the pc myself.
The staff at Lan Labs are not only professional, they are extremely knowledgeable. Overall I am very happy I found this place and HIGHLY recommend them!!!"
