"I've had mixed experiences with Krex. The company is in my hometown so I drove to it to pick up my parts. The first time I had no problems with my Athlon T-bird 1 gig and 1 gig Ram with an ASUS KT133 board.
However, I did make a very large purchase from them to build a friend's computer. I bought an ASUS ALIMAGIC A266 board and a T-Bird 1.33 chip. We assembled the computer and from the beginning the clock was only running at 1 gig. When we boosted it up to 1.3 it would post out and lock up. We reverted to 1 gig and flashed the bios according to Krex's Tech support. After the flash the board was dead. We brought the whole system to Krex, it sat there for a week with no response. Finally we called and they told me it was a hard drive problem. It obviously wasn't a hard drive problem, the computer wasn't even booting... Reluctnalty we returned and replaced the hard drive to no avail. We brought it back a week before we had to leave for college and the FGINALLY replaced the board after arguing with the tech guy for over an hour. In the end they gave us a hassel about their workmanship, we wanted to make sure they didn't just do a quick fix and asked for an extension on their menial 15 day warranty. We fought with the Manager for another 30 minutes and in the end he sign and gave us a 15 day warranty ONLY on the processor which was not replaced... Very shady tech Dept.
But to Krex's Credit, Wyatt was very Helpful"

"If you view Krex as an online store, their prices, service, and support are mediocre. The return policy is rather harsh, but very necessary for the kind of merchandise they sell. No, they will not fraud you, or screw you over. They have no bad intentions what so ever.
Krex does have some good things going for them though. Their CPU prices are rather low, and reasonable. So are their specials of the week. Be wary of Krex's LCD monitors. Especially the CVT and Amptron line. These are the lowest quality LCD's you can buy. They will claim that they're just as good as any other LCD, but spend a bit more money and get a better product.
Never buy memory from Krex. They do not guarantee compatibility, so if the memory doesn't work with your machine, you have to pay a 15% restocking fee to return it. If the memory is BAD, and they test it as bad, they will gladly swap it for you. On the topic of warranties...
YOU MUST KEEP YOUR ORIGINAL RECEIPT OR ELSE YOU ARE DONE FOR. Krex has a policy... No warranty work without the ORIGINAL receipt. If you lose it, you're SOL. So always hang out to that receipt.
Terms and Policies... Thoroughly read through their terms and policy sheet. They ask you to sign two reciepts. And invoice and a credit card reciept. Read the back of the Invoice before signing it! Be sure you agree to their terms.
Like I said before, Krex has good deals of the week. And the best part is there is little mark up on them, so you feel good knowing they didn't make much money from it.
Krex Computer Systems... They have two lines... Pre-builts and custom builts. Their prebuilt line comes with a warranty of 1 year. You bring in your receipt or mail them your computer, and they repair it for you... That only covers HARDWARE issues. Ask which one is a prebuilt and which one is a custom. The ones under 700 are usually considered the prebuilts.
Their custom line is expensive. Don't even bother looking at them. Go to Dell and buy a computer from them, I assure you, it will be cheaper.
They also don't offer technical support like Dell does. Tech support is available until 60 days after purchase. And it's not that good.
For somebody who is tech savy enough to setup their on small business of computers or a contractor... Their prebuilt line is great. Despite having garbage parts inside, they run well. And if they break (hardware wise), you bring them to Krex with a receipt and say "Fix it".
Krex Laptops are pretty good. No tech support, but the prices are reasonable and they're built well.
If you are local, Krex has a great service department. They're honest guys that really know their stuff, and there is almost nothing they can't handle. They charge 75$ per hour which is very reasonable. Laptops have a flat fee of $140, plus parts. So if you have a laptop that's completely messed up, $140 is a bargain.
Krex also knows a bit about servers. Their preconfigured line of servers is garbage. Talk to Mike or Steve about what they can do for you.
So in summary. Yes to specials, a big yes to service, yes to prebuilts. No to everything else."
"I have been buying from Krex for almost 3 years and I have had only a couple of small issues with their products, however everything was eventually resolved. I must admit that I am very pleased with the help I had been offered by the owner on these occasions. Overall they are good vendor of PC supplies."

"Krex Computers had the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I ordered something 3 weeks ago and have not heard a thing about my item being delivered, available or even unavailable. I have called 3 times, emailed 4 times and still no response. Each time I called I was told the person I need to speak to is in a meeting, so I leave a message. NEVER BUY A THING FROM THIS COMPANY! I would never recommend them to anyone."
"Ordered one of their custom XP 2100+ systems as a backup for our business. Package arrived undamaged from shipping (box was perfect), but on inspecting the system inside, we found the whole front bezel had been snapped away from the case body. All the clips had been broken off and the case had obviously been dropped BEFORE it was boxed up for shipping. They shipped it anyway... I was able to permanently mount the front bezel, but there is NO excuse for such negligence. I'm also the same guy who posted 9 comments below on 8-17-01. That same ABIT KT7-RAID is still in use, but that system is being upgraded right now. Needless to say, I WILL NOT be buying anything more from this place...not even a case badge!"

"I'm a Consultant for several Insurance offices’ that has bought over $50,000.00 in merchandise from Krex.com over 3 years. 95% of the time we purchase computers for business that has to be on 24 hours a day 7 days a week. We know that Computers aren’t perfect and make no claim to who is better. With all the systems and components we have bought from krex over this time we have had 4 problems one with a bad motherboard that took time to take care of. The other items had been a bad set of memory that had to be replaced. The Motherboard problem was due to a faulty timer on the bridge and the manufacturer had stopped making that particular board. Since it was for a RAID machine it took time to work out a replacement board. The memory was a problem also from the manufacturer changing its specs and caused a bad floating point for the Mother board we had been using. The other small problem’s were due to the machines being on 24/7 eventually a power supply will need to be replaced. Krex has always worked with us well, even when they didn’t know us in the first several months. Prior to Krex we purchased all our equipment direct from the manufacturers and warehouses they made it easy for us to do business. "
"BEWARE OF THIS SELLER!!!!!!!!!!!!! I spent almost 1400.00 with these people on three machines that did not last a year I bought three computers from these people from July 2202-Jan. 2003. It is now July of 2003, and not one of these units is still working. When the first one went out in October, I thought that it was a problem with that particular unit, and fixed it ( a fan problem). At that time I was told that this unit was not well made, the computer wizard said one step above junk. I don't know how it is doing now, it was stolen from my motel lobby late one night. I ordered the third computer for my daughter in Jan. About 2 weeks after we received that one, the first computer that I ordered went down. And then, in March hers went down. We called, and were given the runaround by the tech support, and when we called sales we talked to an interesting sales man who told my daughter that Krex sold junk and there was nothing he could do. We could send it back (at our expense) and they would see if it was something that was under warrenty. The salesman said nothing ever is, and then they would ship it back to us either fixed or not fixed.(at our expense) We went to Tiger Direct and found some really nice e-machines and they work like a top. ."
