Very good experience. Bought a Panisonic Lumix DMC FZ28 digital camera. Price was very good and as published. No hidden fees and the shipping costs are up front and very reasonable. No call backs to push additional items or warranties, etc. Ordered item on a Friday afternoon and it was delivered on Tuesday. I received an email confirmation within 1/2 day of ordering that the item was shipped and tracking info was included. I would highly recommend to others and will use again.

J&R was so fast and easy! I ordered a camera bag and two days later it came in the mail! It was exactly what I ordered. I received an email the day of my order letting me know it had been shipped. It said it would take 1 to 2 days to ship and it was here just as they said! It's so refreshing to order something online and have it be done right! Thank you to everyone on resellerratings who recommended this company :) They were great!

My experience with JR.com so far:
I ordered on June 19, 2009. They didn't receive my order until June 20 (Which makes sense since I ordered after hours). I went with regular ground shipping. Ground shipping is 5-7 days.
June 22, I asked a couple question like when my order would ship. They told me within 1-2 business days. 1-2 business would mean June 23 or 24. I had no problem with that.
June 23, As I was aware of the Tokina 11-16 lens being out of stock. I was inform that my other 2 order would still ship. (Nikon 18-200 and lowepro 200AW bag)
June 24, NOTHING, no invoice, no phone calls, no e-mail from JR.com. I figure I would wait until June 25th.
June 25, STILL NOTHING, no invoice, no phone calls, no e-mail from JR.com. So that's when I decided to call. During the phone conversation, I asked if my order was shipped yet and I let them know that I ordered last week June 19 and now it's June 25 (almost 1 whole week!). They told me my order IS NOT being shipped yet and the Tokina 11-16 is out of stock. Tokina 11-16 being out of stock is fine, but my order is not being shipped yet? I ordered last week JUNE 19! The lady on the phone told me they would ship it now and take off shipping cost. Which was fine, but when I ordered, it was ground shipping 5-7 days. If I don't receive it by next week on Tuesday then it's well over 5-7 days.
Definitely not what I expected from JR.com. If something was holding up my order from shipping, they should have called or sent an e-mail for me to contact them.
My Tokina 11-16mm is out of stock with them. 2 reps (not sure if it was same person since 1 is e-mail and the other is during a phone conversation) told me that they expect the Tokina 11-16 shipment to come in last week of June. Hopefully it does, and if it does I hope JR.com does it right with my shipping.
Besides my TOKINA being out of stock. I check JR.com website and saw Nikon 18-200mm being $5 dollar cheaper. If I had ordered this week, I would had $5 cheaper. And ordering last week or this week would not matter because my shipping delayed.
Horrible experience for me at the moment. I expected JR.com to send my order via 2 day shipping instead of just taking off the shipping cost. Would I purchase from them again? Maybe depending on how they ship my Tokina.

June 30, 2009 - Received my order!! All was well with the purchased item.

The order was received over the weekend . While most orders do ship in 1-2 business days, a small percentage do take a little longer. Unfortunately for this customer, that was the case with this order. The order did ship on June 25th, which was the fourth business day. We have upgraded the back ordered item to 2 day air shipping.

I was hesitant in ordering from this New York based company. I read so many reviews of SHADY stores like fotoconnection.com where they sell electronics at a lower price then try to upsell you with items then cancel if you refuse or send you a camera minus the battery.
Many reviewers eventually recommneded to fork up the $$$ and buy a newly released item for the MSRP or face the consequence of possibly not getting the item or getting a lemon.
So I was looking for a new digital camera. The Panasonic DMC-ZS3 to be exact. I saw that they had a silver one in stock for $399.99. I ordered it and got an email 3 days later saying that my item was shipped. I used a gift card and the discounted price was not reflected in the invoice so I emailed and quickly got a response from Amelia informing me that the discounted price will not show up on the invoice but will show on my credit card statement. As I checked my account, Amelia was right and they charged me the correct amount.
With free shipping, it took a total of one week for my camera to arrive since ordering online. When I openned it , it was brand new with everything intact. This place offers free shipping (outside NY) so not only did I save on shipping but it was tax free as well. I wish the price was below MSRP but I understand since the camera I wanted was in demand and relatively a new release. Overall, a reliable company to purchase in my opinion. I would definetely buy from them again.

I'm a first time buyer of JR.com. I began seriously considering them when I saw that every single complaint was actively enganged and resolved even to the point of losing some money just to keep the customer satisfied and happy. There are only 2 companies who do that. it's NewEgg and BhP. Considering this is New York company, they are pretty nice and kind to talk to unlike ppl from BHP, althogh they get things done.
I'll buy from them again. But one thing to note though, their order processing is pretty slow compared to newegg. But hey, I got an unbeatable deal. I like to see them become another newegg just so we have another relible company to buy from.
I bought 2 items from them i.e. SON HDRXR500V and HP TX2525NR. They're doing great so far.
Their ratings may be low for now. But what really counts is they never ignore complaints from their customers. Attention to resolve the issue is always there. This is a highly recommended retailer.

Okay, this is the first time writing any of these online reviews but I was compelled to write this one. J&R and their customer service is second to none. To give a little background, I placed an order on the Canon 5d mark ii kit even though it showed that it was temporarily out of stock. I was tracking few popular sites and was hoping that J&R would get this in time before my upcoming trip to Asia. Well, having done some subsequent research, found out that the kit version wasn't in stock at J&R for almost 2 months. This put a serious damper on my hopes of getting this in time for the trip. Since I knew Best Buys had the camera in stock, my only option seem to be to cancel from J&R and purchase the body and the lens separately at a higher price. But, having read the sincere and prompt responses from the store manager to some of the issues expressed on this site, I decided to shoot the manager (Tom L) an email. My request was a long shot. Since the store showed that they had the camera and the same kit lens in stock, I asked if they would actually package the two and try to meet or come close to the canon kit price. Well, to my utter surprise, Tom got back to me early next morning saying they will definitely work with me. I thought maybe they'll come down a little on the price to make it competitive but they did one better. They will be sending me the two pieces (Canon 5d mark ii and the Canon 24-105L lens) for the same price as the kit offered by Canon. I can't believe I'll finally have this camera in my hands. No company is perfect but J&R has shown me to be a company willing to listen to their customers and places great value on customer satisfaction. And in this competitive business arena, that speaks volumes. Needless to say, I will be buying from them again.

More than a month ago I ordered a Canon EF 135mm f/2L lens from JR.com through Amazon because JR received excellent reviews, in addition to their competitive price. When I ordered the lens through the Amazon website it said the lens was in stock, and would be shipped out in 6-10 business days, and then plus the shipping time would be the arrival.
Now, when I purchased this lens I realized that there was a shortage problem. There was a limited quantity of these lenses available and I was actively searching for one and I ordered this lens from JR.com within several hours of it being posted Amazon.com for that reason. Being aware of this shortage I called JR.com a couple of days after the purchase to see the status, and I was told my order was placed on backorder. I was told by the customer service representative that the posting was not removed from Amazon.com at the time that JR.com ran out of inventory. Thus, I was sold the lens thinking it was in stock when it wasn't.
For the past month I have been trying to figure out a time line of when the JR.com would get their next shipment from the Canon distributor and ship me the lens. This proved much harder than it ought to be. At about the one month mark of waiting I started calling JR.com more to see if I could even be given an estimate of when it would be shipped. Each time I called the customer service representative they said they would call or email the distributor and call me back within a day or two. The problem is with the four customer service representatives who told me this, none of them ever called me back!
Edit:
I have received my lens now. It arrived in perfect condition, sealed in the factory box and packed securely.
And while there were problems with customer service leading up to that, I do appreciate how JR.com has reached out to me in the aftermath.

We have reached out to this customer via voice mail and email to apologize for the problems he encountered with us. As the customer mentioned, this item was very hard to come by with extremely limited allocation across the country. We are happy to report that at long last we actually got 2 of these lenses delivered today and one is already on its way to him via overnight service. It should be delivered tomorrow. We certainly could have communicated our efforts better and will express a more personal apology to him when he calls us back.

I found a Nikon D90 refurb at an amazing price, and took the chance to order it. I had no problems whatsoever with my credit card going through, and I received shipping confirmation 24 hours later. The product arrived in 6 days. It is in pristine shape, packed well, and is exactly as described. I will certainly order from this company again!

J&R often does not best prices around, but they more than make up for it with top notch customer service. Ordered a pair of center channel speaker mounting brackets on 4/19. Amazon estimated delivery between 4/27 and 4/30. I had them in hand and installed by 4/23. J&R goes on my short list.

I've ordered on and off from J&R the past few years and never had a single problem. I've even shopped in their store and I've found their staff friendly and knowledgeable.
They ship their items quickly and efficiently, and since I'm just on the other side of the Hudson I usually receive my items the next business day.
I will definitely consider J&R in the future for purchases.

I submitted an inquiry via J&R's website looking for an ETA for arrival on the product I was looking for. Less than 24 hours later I had a response giving me the opportunity to speak to a sales representative (Tony.) I was able to talk to Tony who gave me an estimated arrival to J&R (he was spot-on, btw) and a willingness to take a pre-order as well as work with me at my convenience.
The ordering process was smooth, and I received timely updates on status. I was also contacted by the shipper to plan out delivery, which was a seamless experience for me in terms of tracking and waiting. They gave a window and were there almost immediately.
J&R was recommended to me by friends and acquaintenances who have shopped with them, and it was a recommendation that I would give others. I plan to make sure that J&R is considered for my future A/V purchases.

I ordered a camera and after my last experience with a different reseller, I was apprehensive that this would be another "bait and switch" reseller. My fears were quelled when I did not get the usual e-mail about having to call to "confirm" my order. My camera arrived when expected and I got a great price too! I would definitely shop from JR.com again and put them in my "Trusted Seller" list. I haven't needed to contact their customer service, so I can't comment on that. Again, the ongoing drama of J&R's antiquated though "stringent credit card fraud prevention policies" have yet again created a completely disatisfactory experience. I was even asked to MAIL MY BANK ACCOUNT statements in which, while i appreciate their need to protect their customers, seemed to me to be a complete and total invasion of privacy. My card was authorized, everything checked out, but as i have no landline and am a subletter, i was not able to provide the necessary information to confirm my legitimacy. After about an hour of being on the phone over the course of two days, i was then told that the item was not even in stock, though i ordered from them SPECIFICALLY because their website claimed it was and that shipping would be quicker as i am in New York. I even called in on the day of my order to confirm and ask about warranties. Completely counter-productive business practices. This review was modified by its author, philistine5, on

No doubt, we have stringent protections in place to insure that those using credit cards with us are the ones who hold the cards. There is certainly no drama intended, only a system that has for the most part worked very well. While we regret that at least initially a few of our new customers may find this off-putting, just about all would agree that in this day of credit information compromise, our measures are prudent. In fact, had this customer provided just a bit more info, we would have released the order and been willing to take extra steps of accommodation such as free expedited shipping. Instead, a cancellation was opted for.
In sum, we make no apologies for being careful and hope that this disappointed customer will somehow understand why we do what we do.

I want to write about how happy I am with J&R - this is the second order I've placed with them with no problems. I ordered a Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 lens, which NO ONE else had in stock OR other stores jacked up the price by $50 - 100 over msrp. J&R sold it at MSRP, AND threw in free shipping, AND when they sold out of the lens within 48 hours, they quickly updated their site to reflect the status which other websites did not do. Bravo, J&R!
