"Web page missing for contact info. Order tracking is a dead-end. UPS has no record of package. And I suspect this outfit of swiping my personal info & credit card number. Had to shut down the bank card account within 48 hours of this on-line purchase. "
"Why are these losers still in business? What a rip off. Ripped me off for 500 dollars. Save your money. Find someone reputable to do business. Sort by reputation on this site."
"My invoice was very juvenile and had no number on it. I called them(House of Computers) back and told them the DVD drive did not fit my computer. They wanted to argue with me and tell me that it was the right drive for my laptop. I finally got a return authorization number, and sent the drive back that day. Out of my original $95.79, they were going to credit my account with $57 and change. That was last week! I sent it Express Mail on Monday, the 28th of January. I called them just now, at 5:21 PM EST, Febuary the 7th, and was told they had no record of doing any business with me. Should I have suspected a rip off when there was no number on the packing list/invoice? So far, I'm out over a $100, counting the mailing cost, and I still have no DVD drive for my laptop. So much for a bargain!"
"House Of Computers In Brea, Ca. Is a total rip off. See www.xopco.com/html/house_of_computers.html For More information on their crummy batteries. Sent out 2 batteries and both only lasted about 20 min.
Stated they tested both batteries and both lasted 120 min.
"I made a purchase for memory at this store for a Dell Latitude CP 128mb module. I received it right on time but the memory was too high to fit into the slot. I called the store up and he said it was my responsibility to make sure it was right. He said he gets his info from Dell so talk to them. He would not refund my shipping and charges a 20% restocking fee. He would not admit that it was his repsonsibilty to suppluy accurate information to his customers."
"Shipped used part and totally wrong part number. It was email hell dealing with hoct.com. Totally and blatantly dishonest. Finally just gave up. Out $75. BUYER BEWARE. DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK. I wish I would have checked their Reseller Rating before I did business with them. It is so low I would never have considered it."
"Ordered IBM thinkpad battery, which was supposed to be "same specifications as original" Received battery that was first used on September of 2000 and had been recharged 166 times according to Thinkpad Battey MaxiMiser Gauge (this software comes with thinkpads). I got 30 minutes out of this battery, when the battery life as specified by IBM is 3 hours. This is CRAP! I have to pay shipping both ways because they only promise to refund the purchase price. This company is a FRAUD. DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM!
As a previous poster said, MAY YOU CHOKE ON THE MONEY YOU STOLE FROM ME!"
"I recieved a phone call from HOC and the woman told me, once again, that these items are out of stock. i was asked, again, if I would like to purchase a higher priced model. Obviosly, HOC is using pricewatch to advertise cheap items and then feign out-of-stock to make people purchase higher priced models. I don't like what's happening here. The old bait-n-switch SCAM."

"Well, let's see, they lied to me and cheated me out of something like $500 dollars. I know it's 4 years after the fact but this company is extremely dishonest and I can see that he hasn't changed by the other responses here. How he stays in business is beyond me."
"Like most others, I can personally vouch for the fact that this company is a complete FRAUD. I purchased a video card after asking via email if one they advertised contained a cooling fan (which I did not want due to a low-noise environment). First, it took two tries to get them to answer that email; their (broken English) reply was that it did not. They also tried to con me into opting out of the 4.75 special PriceWatch shipping, claiming it would take a few weeks to deliver. Well, I still opted for 4.75 shipping, and it arrived in two days -- they obviously knew it would, but were trying to suck extra $ out of me.
Despite their email reply, the card turned out to have a fan, so I tried via email to request an RMA (it took two emails yet again). I finally got an email asking me to call in, and they would completely refund my purchase including shipping. Upon calling in, the rep tried to tell me that units without a fan blow up, and that he has a warehouse full of them. Finally he agreed to refund my full purchase and RMA'd the unit. After spending $12 to send the item back to them, the credit issued not only failed to reimburse the shipping, it was $.95 shy of the unit price, so they ripped me off $5.70. There are two many problems here to be explained off as mistakes. They are a fraud, plain and simple.
Surely they read this site -- I even told them in an email (unanswered like most of the emails they receive) that I would post negative feedback here if they didn nor fully reimburse me. So here goes:
Thanks for NOTHING, House of Computers; and I hope you choke on the 6.70 (and extra $12 to ship it back) you stole from me."
"I've ordered a Sony DWU10A; however, I had received a Samsung SM-352. So, they asked me to ship it back and they will refund me my UPS shipping cost of about $7.00 back to the Credit Card company. Long story short I finally got the right part, but it's already Dec. 1st and I am still waiting for my refund.
DO NOT TRUST THEIR WORD - THEY ARE TOTALLY EMPTY. THERE IS NO HONOR IN CHEATING.
One thing is that from now on I will read ratings of any company. The sad thing is that someone else already reported this company cheating behavior and I did not read it before making the purchase with "The House of Computers"
I guess, I have to cut my losses and warn the others gullible souls.

After seeing so many dissatisfied customer I wonder why Yahoo! is keeping them. If it wasn't for Yahoo! I would never consider them for the purchase. My 2 cents."

"I ordered two items from this company. The most recent was a RADEON 9600 PRO EZ 128 M video card. The price was exactly waht was quoted to me, but I decided on the retail version as that was still cheaper than other places. I received it in good order ans got exactly what I paid for. I also paid another $3 to expedite shipping which I felt was worth it as a previous order took quite a while to get.
That previous order was an OEM CD-RW drive, I got what I paid for which was a bare drive, they even got the specific generic brand that I ordered. the only thing with this order was since I had a shipping address different from my billing address, they required me to send a fax with written confirmation and a copy of my ID. I hadn't done that but called them. They were very nice and sent my package right away."
