"I am joining the ranks of a very unsatisfied customer of HobbyTron. I highly recommend you DO NOT order from this company. In short, I ordered and Air Soft pistol and it arrived non-functional. They aggreeded to send a new one... Over a month ago. Each time I call they promise it is in the mail. They have led me on too long and I am tired of their empty promises."
"The scope I ordered for my son's airsoft rifle does not fit (my mistake). I completed a form on the website to request a RMA# (as instructed on the reverse side of invoice) to return the new, unused item. Immediately after filing the request I received an automated e-mail advising my request was received and would be processed in 2-3 days. No further e-mail received so 10 days later I file a 2nd claim and again receive the same automated response. The 2nd request for RMA# has been denied due to being over 30 day return limit. Oddly enough that e-mail went to my Spam folder. I will not order from HobbyTron again and I do not recommend them.
"We purchased an airsoft gun for our son at Christmas...who has yet to be able to play with the gun. We paid a good price for the TM model (remember, you get what you pay for), but still paid several hundred dollars for the airsoft gun and accessories. The TM box that the gun came in had 8 pieces removed with a razor blade. The gun had scratches, AND THE SERIAL NUMBER WAS SCRATCHED OFF! We question if the gun was used...or worse. We ordered several bags of pellets, and 2 of the bags were broken in the box. We needed clarification on the correct batteries to use with the gun model, but there were NO instructions on how to operate the gun. We attempted to contact Hobbytron multiple times via e-mail and phone. No messages have been returned, and we could never get a live person to speak with us on the phone (as it was clear after waiting for over an hour that there would be no promised Hobbytron rep responding). There are other reputable (on-line) airsoft gun companies out there, so avoid doing business with this company. Shame on you Hobbytron!"
"2 of the 3 products that I ordered arrived broken! Even worse, I can't contact them to get replacements or a refund. I've tried for weeks and can't talk to a person or get any returned emails or phone calls. I am going to give up on getting this taken care of, which means that they have basically stolen my money. What a frustrating experience. Buyer beware!! DON'T USE HOBBYTRON! They are crooks!"
"I just reported them to the BBB.. This is coming from a guy who never reports any company/employee before. I will never do business with them again in the future. I received my item but it was not in working condition. I called them up and they refused to refund or even give me a new, working one.
This company takes people's money and are getting away with it. This should be illegal, everyone should report them to the BBB. "
"DO NOT do business with HobbyTron!!! Here is my experience with this company...
1) I purchased a remote control truck from HobbyTron on 11/27/2010. This was my son's Christmas present so I ordered it well in advance in case any issues came up.
2) I received the truck on 12/6/2010 and followed the directions and charged the battery overnight. I plugged it in and no response what so ever.
3) I called HobbyTron on 12/7/2010 (waited 20 minutes for a human to answer). I asked if they could charge my credit card for another one, let me send this back, and then they could credit my credit card when they received the non-working truck. They said they could not do that. They DO NOT provide refunds. They told me I would have to fill out a RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) on their website and I would have to send it back to them to have it fixed and returned. They said there was no way I would get it before Christmas.
4) I filled out a RMA on their website and a few days later I received an e-mail saying they were shipping out a new battery and charger. So, their RMA means nothing to them. They just assumed it was the battery or charger (Even though I told them the battery was warm when charging). I figured we can at least try it...
5) One week passed and no battery or charger in the mail. I called and they said it was "in the process of being shipped". Another week passes and I called. They said "Well, it is coming from oversees so it may take a while". I told them that I would be disputing the charge on my credit card and they HUNG UP ON ME!!!
6) I disputed the charge on my credit card and will have to wait up to two months before it is resolved.
Here is my advice: 1) DO NOT do business with HobbyTron. 2) Go to your local Hobby store and fork out the extra money and get a good remote control car. I did this and paid $185 for an extremely durable car (Traxxas Stampede) and the Hobby store will fix the car if it ever breaks for $30 per hour. That assurance alone was worth it to me. The hobby store people know what sucks and what does not. HobbyTron almost destroyed my son's Christmas, but the local hobby store made him happy..."
"I order a "free" RC Helicopter that cost me $10.45. After following the direction and copter fail to operate. I tried several times through both emails and phone messages to contact with HobbyTron for a RMA# to return the defective copter, for one that works. Out of desperation, I left a commit on their Facebook page and someone from HobbyTron, called immediately! They left a message saying, because the copter was considered a "free" item, it was not under warranty and I was pretty much S.O.L.! I left several more commits on their Facebook page, and they responded by kicking me off their Facebook page and blocking me from leaving anymore commits.
"Ordered multiple airsoft pistols and accessories. The box arrived partly opened due to horrible tape job. No packing material. The guns and accessories loose in a box about 2 to 3 times too large. Guns had fallen out of boxes. 3 cans of green gas have no connectors to make them usable to fill the guns. 2 items missing but no reduction of bill for missing items. Here I sit with 4 guns not usable because the gas cans have no connectors. Have now emailed and no response for 2 days. Today made 4 phone calls. Put on hold once for 25 minutes then automatically asked to leave a message. I have now left 2 messages with 4 phone calls. Started at 9 a.m. Pacific Time and now it is 1 p.m. Pacific Time with no returns on my calls."
"I do not know how this company stays in business. They take your money and then randomly send you something else and tell you that it is stated in their policies to do this and the refuse to refund your money. See excerpt of online chat with their customer service rep. NEVER order from this company. The reason they are cheaper is because they will not send you the item you order.
You are now chatting with 'Nicole' Nicole: Welcome to our Live Chat Service. How may I assist you today? you: With my order XXXXX, one of the items I received was not what I ordered. I want to return it and receive the correct item in its place. I have an RMA number, but did not receive a prepaid shipping label. I should not have to pay shipping since the wrong item was sent to me. Nicole: The customer is responsible for the returned shipment back to us. you: It is not my fault you sent the wrong item. you: I ordered one thing and you sent something else. Nicole: You were issued an exchange not the wrong item. you: I ordered a front loader and an excavator was sent instead. I want to receive the front loader which is what I originally ordered. Nicole: The reason for sending you that item was because the one you ordered is currently not in stock, and wont have it in stock for 1-3 months. We swapped it out with the most similar one to it. We only do that when we know that certain items won't be in for a long period of time. It states it in our policy that we are able to do that. "....Ocasionally items run out are are discontinued from a sepcific manufacturer. We reserve the right to send items of equivalent function in order to fill your order in a timley manner you: So I order one thing and a different item is randomly sent in its place without telling me? you: That is mail fraud. you: It is not an equivalent item, it is something different, Nicole: Correct. Here is a copy of out policy that states it, which was agreed to in time of purchasing::>>>Order Fulfillment Policy Most in-stock items will be shipped within 2-3 business days. For out-of-stock items, you will be notified of any delay. You must pay all orders in advance (at the time of order), even for out-of-stock items. Once an order has been Processed and sent to the warehouse it cannot be edited or canceled. HobbyTron.com guarantees that you will get a new working product(s) or you can return the product(s) for repair or replacement. Color, frequency, and packaging may vary. Occasionally items run out or are discontinued from a specific manufacturer. We reserve the right to send items of equivalent function in order to fill your order in a timely manner. In some cases, such as during the rush before Christmas, we reserve the right to upgrade your order to an item(s) that is completely different but that is lots of fun - hand picked by our experts to get you a fun gift in a timely manner. If you are unhappy with the exchanged or upgraded item, you can return it unopened per the usual policies. you: So why would I not even be notified first and ask me if I want this item in its place. I ordered this on November 24th. It had nothing to do with a last minute Christmas rush. Nicole: Because you agreed to the policy in time of purchasing, and by you doing so gives us the permission to sub it, which is why you were not notified. "
"I purchased replacement blades for the DragonFly Mini RC Helipcoter, which is a coaxial Twin Propeller design. The description on the website noted: “Replacement Blades for the DragonFly Mini Helicopter Parts (Top & Bottom). Based on this description, we felt confident that we would receive a set of propellers, i.e. Top & Bottom per the description.
We received our order, however, we noted that only 5 individual blades were received, not a set. I called and spoke to a professional, courteous lady who apologised for the inconvenience and directed me to the website for the completion of an RMA. At this point I did not even object to having to pay to send it back, I felt good talking to her.
However, I called back as I had some other concerns when completing the RMA. This time, not such a courteous rep. It was not long into the conversation that his lack of professionalism became apparent, in fact I got quite upset after my conversation with him. I was told that what I got was correct and said that I could not even be sure that they were different, having the helicopter in front of me and having forwarded photos to HobbyTron.com, I could confidently assert that they were.
This comment I could overlook, but when I asked whether this had been a description error on the website and that in fact HobbyTron.com did not actually stock the full set OR whether a simple packing mistake was made. I was not given any answer, I was told to just 'send it back, and we will see what we will do'. I asserted that I had to give instruction as per the RMA as to whether I wanted a refund or a replacement, but if my question was not answered, how could I effectively do this. Again, I was met with the policy regurgitation, I expressed my concern that if it was indeed a description error, then requesting a replacement was not even in the realm of possibility.
Realising that trying to discuss this matter was only met with frustration, I in good faith, did what I was told on my cost per the policy. In my RMA, I asked the same question and detailed that should this be a description error, that I get refunded my money. If it was a packing error, to please correct it. I included a letter to ensure that what I was requesting would clearly be understood, namely: If the description was incorrect and that HobbyTron.com did NOT in fact have the Top and Bottom blades as described, to please refund me. If it was just a simple packaging error, one easily forgiven, to then send the replacement.
I quite honestly do not think they read any correspondence sent to them. No calls are returned, unless you are purchasing something, no e-mails are responded to. And even after you spell it out, they still cannot send the correct item!
Imagine my surprise when I received a package containing two different propellers from two different models namely, the DragonFly Mini and the Bladerunner. The Bladerunner blades are bigger and causes instability in the flying of the helicopter when added with the Mini. So, I tried to phone the Customer Service Department again.
This time, I was met with hostility from Nicole, the Customer Service "Manager". The attitude of this department in general is now clear! I was not allowed to complete my sentences and she was generally rude and obnoxious. I started out very respectful and determined to work together with her, however, I had not even finished my discussion when she began to cut me off and upon my reciprocal behaviour, became very uncooperative and would not hear anything more I had to say. She made it clear that, and I quote: “We don't deal with customer complaints, only questions.” When I said, but I have a question for you, she said “No you have a complaint and I don't need to listen to it. You can write it in a letter.”
I was flabbergasted and speechless, in this state of shock I accidentally said: “Wow” softly in a surprised tone to which she sarcastically responded. “Yes, wow! Wow! Anything else ma'am? Good, have a great day. Goodbye.” and before I could even say another word, the telephone was put down.
I am disappointed and extremely shocked with the service HobbyTron.com provided - the service they provided was unsatisfactory, belittling and shocking, the items I received were not what I ordered per the website; however they will not accept responsibility. What was advertised is not what you get! I understand the need for policies to protect a company from abuse, but when the consumer ends up paying a lot of money for "hot air" as in this case, as well as being treated unfairly with contempt and disdain, it is unreasonable and uncalled for!"

"Worst company I have ever dealt with. I ordered a remote control boat for my grandson's 5th birthday that was defective, took about 6 wks for Hobby Tron to send a return authorization form. Now instead of crediting my account they give me an in-store credit that I can not use on-line and give me 6 months to use it. Isn't that nice of them to give me 6 months to use my own money in a store that I don't ever intend to buy anything, in a store that is located thousands of miles away from where I live. They don't call, they don't write and they don't email and guess what else they don't care."
"Sent me incomplete items. M3 grease guns arrived without metal butt stocks as shown on order page and on receipt and on the box. Since the guns worked they figure the are in the clear. They misrepresented their product and would not accept a return. This is the second time I have dealt with these people. The last time they sent me a totaly different item than I ordered and would no take it back. They are under new ownership so I gave them another chance. Still no good! Don't buy from these people. They don't care about you"
"This online company sent a defected airsoft rifle to my home. The gun was literally broken in half. When I contacted customer service I was told to return the gun, (at my cost) and it would take 2-3 weeks to have it returned. After 7 phone calls, several emails, being hung up on by customer service, and only getting an answering machine, the gun has still not been replaced. This is a very very unprofessional online company which needs to be exposed for what it is. It takes yours money and refuses refunds and then does not replace the damaged goods it sends to the consumer. DO NOT BUY FROM HOBBYTRON!!!
THE FOLLOWING REVIEW FROM THE COMPANY IS A BLATANT LIE! The product was resent MONTHS after receiving the original damaged product. AND when it was sent, it was NOT the original gun ordered. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THIS HORRENDOUS SITE!!! The horrible reviews speak for themselves!!!"

"Wow do I wish I had read the reviews!! Initially the service was great. Personalized by phone and on-line chat. Advisor made product recommendations, walked order through so it would arrive on time for birthday, blacked out price on invoice since it was a gift. It arrived on time but was defective. Turns out it could not be returned because original packaging was not saved. On-line chat offered apologies but reported she could do nothing. She offered the managers e-mail to take problem up with someone higher up. After several e-mailing attempts the manager did not even dignify my request for some resolution to this problem with an answer. Do not shop here if you think you may need to return defective merchandise!! They will ignore you!!!"
"Terrible! I opted for 3-5 day delivery and 12 days later, still have not received my order. Tracking link gives no response."
