"FRAUD ALERT!!!!!
This was by far the worst transaction I've had in 10 years of online shopping.
Where to begin....
1. Herman Street's instant download took 96 hours to get to me. By that time I had to look elsewhere to get the software.
Herman Street refused any refund or partial refund
2. made rude and threatening comments
3. Threatened to turn my bill over to collections if when my credit card found them in the wrong.
4. They charge $35 dollars if you dispute a charge to them, for their convience.
5. The most disrespectful, unorganized, distasteful organization I have ever had the unpeleasant experience of dealing with.

THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS"

"On Nov 25th I found an offer from Herman Street for a copy of Bit Defender 9 (anti virus). Herman Street also offered a free copy of WebRoot SpySweeper with an order of Bit Defender.
I placed my order and downloaded both. In the window where you could choose which free software title you wanted it plainly stated.
"We Guarantee that all software, including our FREE offers are complete, authorized programs. Our goal is to provide more value with every purchase."

Well the WebRoot SpySweeper was a 90 day trial!! This was not disclosed.

In addition, I had serious problems with BitDefender crashing on my system. I contacted BitDefender tech support but this did not solve the problem. I contacted Herman Street for a refund and to complain about the 90 trial of WebRoot SpySweeper. First, a rep from Herman Street said they did not sell WebRoot SpySweeper, then another said since it was free it was a 90 day trial. This just does not square with what is stated about all free software being complete copies.

I never got anywhere with these folks on the tech problems with Bit Defender and they simply refused to acknowledge their own website and its statement about the free software.

They stopped responding after several email exchanges.

I would stay far away from these folks. Not only do they NOT even know what is on their own website the do not appear to have customer service folks who really understand PCs and software.

"Very slow getting order out the door. Paying for express shipping is a waste of money. Will not answer phone or emails. Product (DVDs) was OK, but I won't deal with them again."

"I sure wish I had visited this site before doing business with HermanStreet. Like what earlier reviews said, this vendor misrepresents their products or what they are selling. When you pay for something, you should not be getting the free trial versions of software. I wrote to them and they refused to do anything about this - or even change their description of the product.

I recommend that you stay away from this store - particularly when there are some many great stores for us to use."

"This company is committing FRAUD! Intentionally, or unintentionally, it's still the same and there is no excuses, you need to know your products.

This link:
http://www.hermanstreet.com/store/smarthtml/bitdefender-radio.html

Lists Bitdefender 9 Standard is available with a free copy of Webroot's SpySweeper.

Below it are these words:

Statement of Authenticity
We Guarantee that all software, including our FREE offers are complete, authorized programs. Our goal is to provide more value with every purchase.

A "Complete" program many people will consider this to be a one year version, because that is what a complete program is and this statement could be interpreted to mean this, as I think it does, but it is not, it is only a 90 day trial.

NO where on Herman Street is there any mention of this being only a 90 day trial.

This is fraud, I see this here as deceiving buyers and I was one of them. I will not allow companies to do this sort of business and get away with it, whether it was on purpose, or by mistake.

I will contact BitDefender and Webroot over this misrepresentation of their products on this site.

In the meantime people need to be aware of their
deceitful business practice, concerning this."

"I purchased Cyberlink PowerDirector video editing software from Herman Street (Hermanstreet.com) in February, 2006. Cyberlink is a Taiwan-based company whose products are sold in the USA through Herman Street and Element 5.

I installed the software on my new computer that arrived in April, 2006 in anticipation of my daughter's wedding which was June 3, 2006. I took videos and pictures and received additional footage and pictures from friends. I planned to use these to produce a DVD for the family.

After the wedding, I started up the video editing software and experienced numerous crashes. After many e-mails back and forth with Cyberlink over several weeks, I downloaded patches, uninstalled and reinstalled the software, obtained new downloads, operated as instructed without antivirus software and other potentially conflicting programs, etc. Cyberlink finally acknowledged they could not get the software to function reliably on my computer (I have a multimedia Dell PC with more than enough memory, top-of-the-line video card, high speed processing etc.) However, when running the software, the computer would literally repeatedly crash about every 90 seconds to 3 minutes and I never successfully produced the video.

Cyberlink's technical support and customer support, which does not sell directly in the USA, recommended that I get a refund from the vendor, Herman Street, who sold me the software. I completely uninstalled the Cyberlink software and bought Adobe Premiere Elements and was successful in using this crash-free software to produce the videos.

After several rounds of correspondence with Herman Street's "customer service" they denied any responsibility for the defective software and refused to give me a refund, choosing instead to hide behind their policy that if you successfully downloaded the software, no refunds are allowed because downloaded software = opened software. On top of that, they said that any returns of "UNOPENED software" have to be done within 30 days or no refund is allowed.

So... downloaded software is not "unopened." And even if it were mailed, physical software on a CD, you can't determine if it works if you don't open and install it!!! So they are ripoff artists to the extreme.

Even the manufacturer acknowledges they can't get the software to work and that there are fatal bugs in it that prevent the production of videos lasting more than a few minutes or that contain more than a few files.

Herman Street also threatened me and said that if I file a refund claim with my credit card company and the credit card company sides with me, they will report me to credit bureaus as a bad debtor. They also indicated that if my credit card company did side with me, they would then file an adverse rating on my credit ratingand report it as an unpaid debt where it would stay until I paid it back. Mopreover, they also threatened that they would charge my credit card with the full amount of their so-called losses, plus a $35 chargeback fee.

So... I'm kind of stuck. I have software that doesn't work sold by HermanStreet.com and I am out of pocket almost $100 and I had to spend more than that again ($120) on another product that actually does work. I can't get my money back through my credit card company because HermanStreet.com has threatened me that if I do they will give me an adverse credit rating, and HermanStreet.com won't give me a refund on this defective product.

The world needs to know about this Rip-off company and consumers should avoid buying any product from this disreputable company under any circumstances. I buy over $1000 of software a year and will definitely never buy from them again and will warn anyone I come in contact with to avoid them like the plague. The only hope for consumers is that they will go out of business and never again be reborn under any other name to rip off more consumers.

"This store sent me Genie-Pro and without a license key. So, I paid a good deal of money for a 14 days product. They have a unlisted phone number so you can't get a hold of them. That should tell you something! I have email them many times and what they call a live chat is a joke. It is another way to email them. You get NO answer. I thought I was getting the product from Genie to find out that Herman is just a on line place to loose your money. I might add not only out my money and have a damage disk on top of it all. I think it might be a copy? It took a long time to get to me and now I am holding the bag.

"DON'T BUY FROM THESE SCAM ARTISTS. I reviewed a software program on a website and clicked to buy a download. I was connected with a site (HS)where I purchased the download. I then got an email with a website address where I got the download. The problems started from the 1st attempt at a download where I got a "files corrupted" error. Several attempts at more downloads and even a save to a cd didn't work. I sent a message to the original software producers about the problems. They told me they were having problems with the downloads and suggested I buy the software on cd for another $7. Not wanting to blow any more money on this scam I asked for a refund. They said I bought the product thru HS and ask them for a refund. I emailed HS for a refund and the first message from them was they didn't refund downloads. I checked out their online refund policy and found that they would do refunds for failed downloads but it would cost me $5. Several more attempts asking for a refund and they finally agreed. It took them a month to issue a credit to my account. After this experience I googled HS and found this forum to warn others about these scumbags."

"Ordered: BitDefender Anti-Virus Software v.10, Boxed

Received: BitDefender Anti-Virus Software v.9, Un-Boxed, without software license key

Basically, what I received was a demo disk, good for no more than 30 days without a legitimate license key. The BitDefender manufacturer said that I did not get what I was supposed to.

On attempting to dispute the charge with my credit credit card company, I was provided with a Herman Street phone number which went straight to voice mail (repeated attempts). The message I left went unanswered. Now that I'm embroiled in this mess, I notice that Herman Street lists no customer support phone number on their Web site.

I will never do business with Herman Street again and would strongly advise others to do the same.
