"I originally ordered from this company in May of 2005. I purchased 9 magazine subscriptions for around $47.00. I received all the subscriptions within about 3 months and was very happy with the entire transaction.

Based on my previous order with this company, I placed an order in mid-March of this year for a 5 year subscription for my daughter's birthday in June. I figured for a monthly magazine, that should be plenty of time for me to receive the first issue either near her birthday or right after.

A couple of weeks before her birthday, I checked on the status and it indicated I should receive my first issue within the next week or two. I waited and one week passed, then two. I went to the website again to try and determine if they had sent the first issue yet or if there was some sort of problem, and this time, no matter what I did, it could not "locate" my order now!

I filled out a "ticket" and waited a few days, repeatedly checking my e-mail for some sort of human response and not some automated reply. When over a week passed and I didn't get one, I again filled out another ticket explaining my concern and the problems I was having.

By this time, my daughter's birthday has come and gone and I waited over a week for a response to my second ticket. Again, I received no response whatsoever, other than the initial automated message you receive.

Today, I canceled my order. Then I tried to request a refund. The site did not recognize my password, so I changed it and tried to log back in with my new password. It still would not let me log in, even with the brand new password I had just created!

I finally was able to log in tonight and put in a request for the $31.00 I spent on this magazine subscription, via filling out yet another "ticket."

Judging from my current difficulty getting a response from this company and from everyone else's problems on here, I have a feeling I will need to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau at the very least. Can someone tell me if I file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau listed here or the one in my state?

Thanks! I hope everyone (including me) gets their money back!

I am just really baffled as to why I had such a good experience two years ago and now, it almost seems like this company is intentionally trying to rip customers off!? Change in ownership/CEO maybe?

Stephanie :-)"

"I ordered a renewal magazine for my Aunt for her birthday, and I haven't had a chance to speak to her yet, but I'm going to guess that it won't be received.

The thing that clued me in to this possibly being a rip-off site, was that they charged me at the time of purchase (October 7th) and then mysteriously, on October 31st there was another charge, for the exact same amount, from them. I sent them an email on their web-based thing, no response. The charge was just pending, so I assumed it was a mistake.

It was not. The charge was finalized on Friday, and I sent them ANOTHER comment form thing, again, no response. Found this site on Monday, so at that point I called my bank and had to cancel my card, so they don't keep charging me monthly. (I used a debit card)

For everyone saying that they can't find a phone number, I think I have one. It showed up as the name of the business on my account.

WWW.MY1MAG.COM888-7206298 NY is what shows up as their name of business, so I'm guessing that 888-720-6298 is their phone number. I didn't call since I already called my bank and cancelled my card and all of that, but I figure some of you may want to give it a shot."

"I was charged for this subscription and never received it. I received no refund, despite contacting the website 11 times and being promised a refund. I have no recourse here because it is an internet store.... DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY."

"This site is indeed a scam. I ordered a subscription from them on July 26 and it is now November 9 and I have not received an issue. Worse, they have never answered any of my emails or order status requests. I called the phone number that the last reviewer suggested and was informed via recording that the mailbox was full and to try again another time. I doubt seriously that the mailbox will ever not be "full." Buyer beware."

"Never received my magazine subscription. Company refuses to answer e mails. No phone # for them. After reading all the previous reviews I am in agreement that this is a scam. Would not recommend them to anyone. "

"SCAM...SCAM...SCAM!!! I like many of you on here found out way too late that this company is a BIG scam. After days of talking with my bank and The Better Business Bureau I finally found this company's info to file a formal complaint. I encourage all of you to take the five minutes to file a complaint with BBB. The adress is www.greensboro.bbb.org/. When you click on file a complaint type in "my 1 mag" if you look at your credit card statement that is the name of the company that took your money. You will see thae name of the company and the address pop up. I am over the $35.00...at this point I want these people to be caught and punished!!! If you need more info please let me know and I will contact you!

**********UPDATE********* 12/12/2006
Today I received a letter from the Better Business Bureau stating that they had contacted this company and that they had agreed to refund my money. To my surprise, I checked my account today and my money was refunded!!
So I encourage all of you to contact the BBB to make a complaint to stop these people and to get your money back!!

"Ordered a magazine for my Grandmother. Have contacted HPM many times now by their useless email form. They never respond. I don't even get the automated "We'll get back to you shortly" email anymore. They have no phone number. This is the first time I have had an online order rip off. I contacted the magazine publisher, but the order has still not been received. HPM's website shows the magazine should have been started in April and now it's October. I am glad I ordered nothing else from them and am only out a few bucks. The BBB has nothing on them. Stay away, this place is a scam."

"Update: 6/10/2007 - I still have not received my refund. I have filed 2 complaints with the BBB (no response from BBB), I am blasting the email addresses I have every day, I have filled out paperwork to sue them, I am filing with the NY Attorney General, about to file with IC3 and FTC. Please post if you can think if anything else we can do.

"Like everyone else on this site, I ordered and never received my magazine from halfpricedmags.com This is the first time I ever had a bad experience ordering online. I've emailed and emailed, opened "tickets" on their customer support page, all to no avail. I filed a complaint with the BBB today. Also, emailed the owner, if indeed that is his email that is posted on this page. We'll see what happens."

"RIPPED OFF. I purchased a 3 year renewal subscription to a woodworking magazine, in Aug 06, for almost $28. I should have known the price was to good to be true. I waited the 8 weeks. The expiration date of the magazine never changed. I emailed this company 5 times with no response. I found the same phone number listed below on my credit card bill. I thought I was going to get through because the automated system told me to Press 1. Then I got the "Mailbox is full" reply. I contacted my credit card company and they told me it had been more than 60 days since the charge was made so it was to late to dispute the charge. After explaining the waiting period for magazine subscriptions they filed the dispute and I should get my money back in 6 weeks. Stay far, far away from this company. Go to the publisher or another reputable company and pay a little more."
