"I ordered a gps from them and got the confirmation email with a request to "call to confirm". when i did so, the sales person tried to upsell me with an exhorbitant 3 yr warranty and maps. i know from researching the product the maps would be updated by the mfgr for free and told them so, i did take the 3 yr warranty but at a much more reasonable price than they offered it for. they did ship a brand new unit althought somehow forgot the warranty and charged an addt'l $18 for shipping above what was stated on their order confirmation - said it was insurance. uh huh, i ship packages to customers and know better. not sure i'd order from them again. we'll see how long it takes to get the warranty - also the shipping label says it's from simon silver, megawholesale out of brooklyn ny,"
had heard nothing from them so called them on 7-25 they then told me item was backordered and being shipped from overseas, would take 3-4 weeks to get here.
i asked where they were located, the man said Canada and asked if I wanted to drive up to pick up the item. I explained no one told me item was backordered , and their website states orders can ship within a day.. told him how unacceptable I found what they were doing, he asked me if I wanted to add another camera on to the order.
"I wanted a Lumix FZ18K digital camera and was really excited to find it advertised on the internet at more than $100 less than anyone else. It was EXACTLY what I wanted (factory sealed with all accessories included, full warranty, etc.) My usual good grasp of common sense left me in all the excitement. (If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.) I bought it online. I immediately got the email asking me to call to verify my purchase. The rep wanted my 3 digit crdit card security number. I gave it to him but I started to smell a rat. When I called the rep tried to sell me a long life NiMH (!) battery and charger. No modern camera uses that kind of battery. I was told that the camera could-in a pinch-use alkaline batteries. I turned down the offer of a battery. I also turned down the offer of a way overpriced extended warranty. The rep said OK and would send out the camera right away. Over the next two days I grew increasingly concerned about my purchase. I scoured the internet looking other offers as good as the one I fell for. Couldn't find any. Went to resellerratings.com and discovered the awful truth. I had been keeping track of charges to my credit card and there hadn't been any. I decided I had to get out of this arrangement before I got ionto real trouble. I called my credit card compny and cancelled my card. I felt much better straight away."
"Placed order for nice pentax digital camera, waited and waited, did not realize that I had to call to confirm . This is were they scam you . I called first thing they asked for was my security code from CC . As soon as he had that he said I needed to order the battery for camera and he would do that for 189.00 , this made his great deal on the camera more expensive than most retailers and HD Camera World does not include a USA warranty. Credit card companies and consumers should shut these people down"
"I ordered a camcorder from this company on a Sunday and immediately received a confirmation email from them. However, down at the very bottom of the page, it tells you to call to confirm your order. When I called the next day, the person who answered tried to sell me all kinds of accessories which I did not want. Then, I was told the camera was on backorder and that they did not know when it would be in stock. I cancelled my order but never got an email confirmation of the cancellation.
DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY OR YOU WILL BE SORRY."
"DON'T ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY! I had the same experiences as described by everyone here. I even called a different company before calling this one and it sounded like the same company! I really think they have several companies. I asked if they were connected and he denied that. I knew from my inital tuition that something wasn't right with both companies...both representatives basically hung up on me after I inquired about several things. Unfortunately, I immediately called my bank and they cancelled my card. I think this is not really a company....I think they are colllecting card data for all it is worth. LESSON LEARNED FOR ME: Never expect to get something for nothing. "
"SCAM ARTISTS to say the least and extremely disrespectful as well. I ordered a Garmin Nuvi 760 for $144.00 which was a gret deal. Too good to be true right?! I received an email to "call and confirm my order" and when I spoke with them I was told that the GPS unit didn't come with any maps and they'd be happy to sell me the maps for another $99.00. When I started to question what they were talking about the guy called me a "Douche Bag" and hung up on me. I called back and asked for the owner and when he got on the phone he told me to "F-off" and hung up on me as well.
"Ordered a Garmin Nuvi 250W because they offered a good price. Got back a confirmation email saying, "Call to confirm your order." Since I had given credit card information, I didn't think that was necessary. However, they called me that afternoon, so when I got the message, I returned the call. Salesman insisted I buy extras. (At first it was camera battery, but he picked up on my puzzlement about why I needed a camera battery and looked at the order. Then he switched to map upgrade.) I knew this was a relatively new Garmin unit and shouldn't yet need a map upgrade, and upgrades are really most important for points-of-interest, which is a trivial matter to me. I told him I didn't want a map upgrade, just to ship the item as is. He wouldn't let it alone. When he finally took a breath, I repeated that I wanted him to ship as is, then hung up on him. Two weeks went past. I didn't get any email with shipping information and they didn't charge my card. I cancelled the order and bought elsewhere. They advertise a low price for merchandise, but I don't believe they have any intention of shipping unless you order pricey extras."
"Same all other reviews. Ordered a Canon G9 for $239 + shipping. After ordering, I got the sales pitch for items I didn't need, and the sales rep couldn't understand why. Several days passed when I didn't get any shipping/tracking info. After calling, I found out the item was back-ordered for two weeks. After reading these reviews, I thought "hmmmm". I immediately contacted my CC company with my concerns and cancelled my order via e-mail as documentation in case I get charged later. I re-orderd from another company, and hopefully this ordeal is behind me now."
"I wanted to buy a Garmin Nuvi 760 GPS from this company.
In the morning of Sept. 3, 2008, I called HDCameraWorld and asked whether the Garmin 760 unit is in stock, because I wanted to have it by Friday of the same week. Joe told me it was in stock and asked me to place the order on-line and call him back at extension 229#. I did as he asked and received an email confirming my order. When I called back Joe told me the package was right in front of him, he was going to ship it immediately and I will certainly have it by Friday. He then started a lengthy discussion where he was trying to sell me a 3-yr warranty (first for about $99 and than he offered it at about $69). I declined whereupon he tried to sell me the current maps, because the unit came with 2005 maps. I told him I already have the 2009 Garmin maps disk and didn't need to buy it; in addition, Garmin is providing up-to date maps for free for any purchase made at this time. After all this Joe stopped pushing and assured me I'll have the unit by Friday Sept. 5 (I did pay for 2-day air shipping).
Today, Sept. 4, 2008, I checked their website and my order showed as "processing." I called Joe to find out what's going on and, to my dismay, he stated he no longer had the unit because he sold it to a "better buyer" and all he could offer is a unit with 2009 maps for $369. I asked that he deliver on his confirmation of the purchase cost and shipping of the unit as originally agreed upon. Joe’s response was that he will cancel the order and he hung up.
