"Wow. I can't believe all the negative reviews on here! I have purchased well over 100 items from GoHastings.com now. I typically buy used books, DVDs, and Blu-Rays from them. Their website is a pain to use, but everything else about them more than makes up for it.They always ship quickly. Items from them often arrive in 2-3 days (using the slowest shipping rate). They almost always arrive with the disks in excellent condition. They have some of the cheapest prices on the internet - both items and shipping. They OFTEN have 30% to 40% off sales on their already-low prices.I've only had a couple problems with them since I started buying from them and their customer service has always made things right by me.GoHastings.com is my favorite place to shop for media online or offline. I'd highly recommend them."
"Seeing a lot of bad reviews I was really cautions before buying from GoHastings.com however I purchased an Action Cam Swann Freestyle HD for basically half of the price and everything went smooth! I even thought this could be a refurbished or open box but to my surprise I received the package yesterday and the product was factory sealed! I even called their customer service and I was promptly helped and got a satisfactory answer about my shipment.I will buy again for sure! Great experience!"
"GoHastings used to be the one website I'd go to when I needed to buy Manga, or Japanese Graphic Novels. They consistently had sales that allowed consumers to take 30-40% off their purchase, which made it more bearable for me to buy books that I'd been wanting to read for over a decade yet couldn't find anywhere else for less than retail. To date, I've bought over 300 manga from Hastings.Lately, Hastings has started discriminating against those who buy manga in their Used Sales. It started on Black Friday 2012, where only "Vampire" manga was on sale, and now today on Valentine's Day, they flat-out say in their 33% off used CDs, movies, and BOOKS sale, "Offer excludes Graphic Novels." Graphic Novels no longer qualify as books to them. This is at least the sixth time since Black Friday they've excluded Manga, but to put it right on the ad image this time is the final nail in the coffin. You were great while you lasted, Hastings. It's no wonder your store in Memphis closed down with such garbage ways you treat repeat graphic novel customers. I've had enough."
"I just ordered a box set of Full House for my daughters bday through gohastings via Ebay marked as new. When received the box under neath the plastic wrap showed obvious signs of wear, so with that said it lead me to believe that this was not new, I opened up the package and sure enough discs and holders all showed signs of wear. I contacted gohastings via Ebay and they tell me send it back and they'll refund me as they have no more available but their auction on Ebay says more then 10 available, getting Paypal and my credit card company involved."
"I ordered a product that was supposed to be sealed and brand new as a Christmas present for a friend. When I received the item, the box was ripped and the original tape was peeled back and poorly re-applied. I contacted gohastings customer service and received no response. I inquired again about a solution. This time I was told that the product was not expensive enough for them to "waste their time with" and I was told to "deal with it" because "you win some and lose some" wow! horrible attitude from a professional business. Stay away from GoHastings.com after this incident I refuse to even shop at their brick and mortar stores."
"I ordered 4 used books from this site during one of their recent sales. I had no problems making the order, and all of the items were well packed and shipped extremely promptly. The items arrived in exactly the condition described. The shipping charges were very inexpensive ($0.96 for everything in my order)"
"From my sole experience of GoHastings, I was ready to come here and post either 1 or 5 stars. I made a purchase for a discounted product, but for whatever reason (availability, sale ending, alignment of the planets) the payment page showed me one price, and when I confirmed payment, the confirmation page displayed another price - the original cost. I immediately contacted customer service. I was given 48 hours to shipping date, and 48 hours until customer service contacted me. What could I do but wait? The product shipped first, and it was here I lost hope. I figured there was no incentive for them to help me deal with this problem, since they could not cancel the shipment anymore. That was yesterday. This morning I received a brief email from customer service apologizing for the delay in response, acknowledging that the item had problems, and crediting the price difference to the card I paid with. Well played, GoHastings, I will definitely shop with you again."
"I have ordered many things from Go Hastings in the last year, never having any problems. They have the lowest prices around, even though they are frequently out of stock. A few weeks ago, I tried to make a purchase, but it would not go through on the very last step, saying there was a issue with my payment method, but would not say what the issue was. I proceeded to try every card I have, but with the same results. All my cards are good and working with available funds, so I proceeded to order most of the things I wanted from amazon with no problems. After several weeks, several emails sent, with no response from go hastings, and several hours on hold with customer service, even being hung up on/disconnected a few times, I was finally able to drag out of them, that for some unknown reason, their security department had suspended my account and blocked me from making purchases. They could not tell me why, they said only security could and the only way for security to contact me is for me to wait for them to email me, which they of course never did. So go hastings for no reason is refusing to do business with me, refusing to give me a reason why, and refusing to contact me or deal with the issue. I have never heard of this in my life, and was somewhat dumbfounded. After reading everyone elses problems with customer service, it is starting to make sense. Go hastings is great if you get what you ordered and do not need to contact customer service. If however, or more likely when, you have an issue with an order, forget about it. You will basically be told too bad! Piss off! That seems to be there policy, but find out for yourself if you choose. Let the buyer beware. Really low prices usually result in customer service being poor or non existent, just like with wal-mart. You get what you pay for. I will not only never do business with go hastings again, but am pursuing a bbb complaint, and any other avenues to expose these terrible business people."
"I purchase things online very frequently. I find it infinitely more convenient than running to the store, searching limited stock, and then dealing with people to purchase said items. However, I'd prefer to shop in a active volcano wearing nothing but my birthday suit while my extremely old second-grade teacher judges my body scrupulously then EVER shop at goHastings again.I was stupid and naive when I saw the brand of what I thought was a very reputable company when I was shopping for a used Wii console for a project I wanted to start. I thought the price of their bundle (Wii Black bundle with Sports Resort) was a bit overpriced by about five dollars, I still went with it because it had the big green "HASTINGS" font next to it's name.Boy was that the biggest mistake. Here's a copy and paste of the product description:"100% PRODUCT GUARANTEE!* Fast shipping on more than 1,000,000 Book, Video, Video Game, Music titles & More! We 100% Guarantee the full functionality of all used and previous viewed product, except it's digital content, if any."A fun fact: Descriptions like these are actually contracts. When you purchase an item, you're purchasing the item as described. So when a say, "very new" Wii bundle shows up at your door, looking as if someone keyed it and it happens to be missing 50% of the total bundle - that's called a Bait and Switch, and is very illegal. So I called up customer service (1-877-Hastings) to get this situation solved. The customer support, at this time, was very courteous and fast. They said that it was a computer glitch and they mailed me the incorrect product, and would likely give me a giftcard for the missing product. However, the person I talked to (I believe her name to be Claudia) said she would have to talk to her supervisor. I said, "All right." and she said she would call me back in 35 minutes. An hour and a half later, I called 1-877-Hastings once again to see what the dealio was up with my order. At this time, Claudia offered me a 20 dollar gift card - and nothing else. I told her that 20 dollars would not cover the missing merchandise, and the contract I entered into Hstings, as per their description, entitled me to a 100% Guarantee. I intended to collect. To justify this, really. I was willing to keep the battered Wii, I just really wanted the controller it was supposed to come with - and one of the games. I could care less for everything else. I just didn't want to inflate the cost of a bundle that I paid for into more, because of an error on their part.I wanted to talk to the supervisor at this time. But he was at lunch. So two hours later, and no call back, I call again to see what was up with my order. This time the supervisor still didn't want to talk to me and I talked to another person, who said now the deal was 15 dollar giftcard or a return.Furious, I got the name of the supervisor (Billy May. Perhaps the funniest name, and douchiest supervisor) and I intended to call the hastings headquarter to file a complaint at this horrible service and runaround I was getting.Corporate just kept sending me to customer service. I talked to five different people. So finally, I talked to Billy May. Engage the boss music. He refused to work with me. Refused to offer me any compensation.A computer/employee accidentally listed their Wii bundles far lower than intended, causing a mishap to happen. A mishap they expected their customers to take on the chin. This was just now explained to me, and frankly irrelevant. I didn't know there was an error on the computer side when I bought it. I didn't even think I was cashing in on a good deal. I just want what I paid for.He offered me nothing. I told him to send me a shipping label because I was not going keep the Wii and I was not going to pay shipping. In the meanwhile, I disputed the payment for the Wii, and am waiting for a complete refund."
"Gohastings.com is one of the worst online merchants for buying used games, i had to return games back to back that wouldn't install on my xbox hard drive and when i email their customer service i got zero response.I wouldn't recommend purchasing anything from them."
"They list items for sale that they do not have in stock, then give you are hard time about canceling the order and getting a refund. Order a DVD a week ago, and I only found out that they don't have it in stock when I called them. Their customer service gave me the run around telling me it "might be possible" to cancel and order for an item they don't have."
"Ordered several games during labor day sale. 3 were cancelled because they weren't in stock. When the other games came, one did not work (damaged) and one had the correct game box with the wrong game inside. When you order Mario galaxy 2 you don't want a .50 cent Super mario brothers game that comes with the system. These guys won't honor their committment and probably resell your email info to spammers. BEWARE"
"I go to the local Hastings store (don't shop with them online) so I can only review my experience of being a customer for over 12 years. I love Hastings. They have great prices on DVD rentals and a surprisingly sophisticated selection of books. I appreciate the fact that they stayed in business here and weathered the competition from Netflix and the Barnes and Noble bookstore (which shut its doors recently in our town). Love their late night hours, great selection of international films."
"I pre-ordered one copy of diablo III collectors edition game from gohastings on March 14. I was assuming the product will be delivered at least 1 week late from the release date May 15 since my three previously shopping experience with gohastings is pretty bad compare to amazon or even on ebay with a low rating reseller because gohastings always ship my order very late. I waited until today May 24 and decide to login my gohastings account to check the order since I am 100% sure that I DID NOT received any email from gohastings. The status on my order stated "Canceled". I am not upset because of the cancellation, I am piss because they did not notify me about the cancellation. As a customer, I think it is acceptable to request a notification for the cancellation but I received nothing since the day I order the item. This is my last order from this gohastings. They have no idea how to serve customer for online orders. I am sorry to tell that they are sucks. They need to hire more people at least get a good communication with customer. "
"Well I was hesitant to buy anything because of all the bad ratings, but since the movie I wanted was so cheap I decided to just go for it. I got my USED movie today and its in absolutely perfect condition. It looks like it was literally just opened and watched once then sold. Not a scratch on it and the dvd case was great. The movie came in less than a week so I'm happy. I will order from them again soon. The only thing that sucks is that a lot of things are out of stock but I'll just check back weekly."
