"I don't normally write up reviews for companies I dealt with but I had to make an exception with GeekBuying. Their customer service is terrible, it sometimes takes up to a few days or even a week for an answer. I've placed many orders with them and stopped after they tried to scam me.

On my last order (#3022543), they never even bothered sending it to me. When I inquired about a month later they never replied either. So I then tried to do a chargeback with Paypal and instead of them honouring the chargeback they tried to scam me by providing Paypal with a tracking # from a previous order that already received. I then had to spend almost an hour on the phone with Paypal to explain the situation and provide them proof. Luckily, they refunded my money.

During the same time, I also had one of their devices (minix neo x5) from a previous order (#3018518) was defective after about 30 days of receiving it so naturally I contacted GeekBuying to let them know. After some troubleshooting, we confirmed the device was defective so they told me to send it back and they were going to replace it. 2 months went by and I STILL didn't get my replacement Minix back. Avoid GeekBuying.com like the plague."

"Hello,

I have made several purchases in Geekbuying successfully. Delivery time, packaging and the price is the best I've found.
I highly recommend this site for your purchases.

The customer care is good and friendly, but take a while to answer, I guess because the time difference and the volume of inquiries.

Sure I buy again in this site."

"First order from them, and it's been a nightmare. I preordered the Pipo M6 tablet on may 19th 2013, it was listed for $279 with a release date of may 31st. May 31st arrives, and other resellers start confirming stock on the M6 and shipping out orders. I check my geekbuying account, and nada, still shows as 5/31 release, my order status still shows as "processing".

I wait patiently, and for the first few days of June, the product page for the m6 on geekbuying still shows may 31st release. Only the price has dropped $5, to $274. I email geekbuying through their site, asking for status on shipping, and if they would pricematch themselves for the new lower price. They responded asking for my order number, which I provided. Have since been silent for three days.

I've mailed them daily, first just reminding them to get back to me, then asking to cancel my order. All unanswered. I've tried to contact them using the online chat feature, but no one is ever online during their business hours. There is a phone number, but it's in china, so calling it would be prohibitively expensive.

I've had to start a dispute with paypal. And I'll be tablet-less for who knows how long. "

"I understand the time difference between the US and China. As a result I get that responses to emails come 12 to 24 hours apart. I can handle that. What is difficult about dealing with Geekbuying.com...trying to get an RMA. I ordered a Nextway f9x tablet back in early May. The tablet was shipped in a timely fashion straight from China. (I was very impressed by this part of the transaction.) I used the tablet for a couple of hours the day I received it. However, the next day I went to switch it on and the tablet hung up on the start up screen. I emailed that day to request an RMA. Instead, a day or two later I got a reply with a link to a blog post and a short message instructing me to "flash" the tablet. I'm computer savvy, but I'm not an engineer. Despite my discomfort I decided to proceed with their instructions. Unfortunately, the link to the blog was broken. In fact there were three downloads required to "flash" the tablet and none of them worked. Of course I emailed them to let them know and requested again and RMA for the tablet. Instead I got a reply (again a day or two later) to try a different link. I tried the link and again the link did not work (they had been flagged by Dropbox for too much bandwidth usage). So I emailed back again...requesting an RMA...and instead got an updated message to try yet another link...I decided to once again give this a shot. I followed the directions on the blog and made it partially through the process. Now the tablet does not even power on. So I've requested, yet again, an RMA. I'm hoping that if anything else by posting a negative review here some one in the right position at Geekbuying will finally hear my desire for an RMA and give me a full refund for an obviously defective tablet. BUYER BEWARE!"

“hello, dear sir
yes, you are telling the truth that we sent you 3 times of the reboot link, this does not mean that we refused to let you ship back, as we know, shipping cost for international transportation is quite high and we always need to confirm the firmware can help the customers solve the problem or not, if not, of course you can send back for free replacement as our 1 year warrenty return policy.

And we used to upload all the firmwares but you can not down load in a fast speed, so that is why now we use DROPBOX which is very good but sometimes it is easily to be blocked about our account as large flow , this is the truth, sir.

We are communicating with them and please dont worry, Geekbuying is reliable !
We have sent you the return address and please following the instructions, thank you for your cooperation

sincere

"Hello,
This is my first order to GeekBuying and it is a good experience.
I purchase a tablet, which come in short time (2 weeks for french) and in really well and safe package.
I ask to get an european outlet and they send me the correct adapter, so really good:)!
Also customer services (Anna) is really correct and friendly. I appreciate it :).

(Android was not correctly set, but maybe issue from factory, I just make a reset and it works)."

"This represents the worst case for mainland China outfits. If you get lucky and have no problems, fine. But if you have any issues then you are up sh*t's creek without a paddle.

Their "customer service" took DAYS to respond -unhelpfully- to each request for help I sent. After a month they finally agreed to let me return the non-functioning MK808B. But because I didn't want to pay $50 shipping to return a $60 product, I have no proof of delivery. And they are not refunding anything!

Total worst case seller. If you use them, what you need to ask yourself is: Are you feeling lucky?"

"I received a tablet from them 2 weeks ago (Hyundai T10 10.1" 3G/GPS/BT Tablet PC Andorid 4.0 OS Exynos 4412 Quad Core 1.4GHz IPS Capacitive Touch Screen 1280*800 2GB 16GB Wifi).
It's look great at first, but after only a few days of usage I've noticed a big dot of burned pixel on the screen (about 1 inch of diameter), gps not working and crash at every 10 minutes or at best 1 hour. Then exactly after a week of usage, it no more want to boot up. Each time I try to turn it on, the t10 logo keep blinking indefinitely till the battery drop dead. Of course, the reset button doesn't change anything to the situation. I've asked for refund and explained those problems to them. Here is their respond:

hello sir
thank you for ur details
pls flash it here http://blog.geekbuying.com/index.php/2013/05/30/tronsmart-t428-new-android-4-2-firmware-download-netflix-bluetooth-all-ok/#.UaluDdjMmk0
this it the new firmware we got it from the factory
pls try it
thank you
anna

As we can see in their reply, they obviously try to elude the question of refund. But the most hilarious part of that is the link they send me doesn't even refer to the good product firmware, its for a totally different product. I've also posted a question on their "Q&A" section, mentioning those very same problems and asking for the possibility of refund. As we can all expect, the question have never been publicly posted on their website. That's the reason of the present review here. I just needed to post it somewhere. But I will not stop there. Further steps will comes next. All depending on how they will solve the problem.

Anyway, for those who likes gambling and wants to test their chance, come here at Geekbuying.com for shopping. If you're lucky and have no problem with your purchase, then good for you. You've just win a game of luck. But if you've got some problems, then that's another whole story... You've just win your ticket to the entrance of a robbery circus. Of course, we cannot really complain. After all, those are "made in china" products and their reputation is not to be questioned anymore.

edit: they've finally post my question on their "q & a" page. for those who are curious, you can go take a look of how much their customer service is bad:

“hello, sir
how to say , it is a kind of sorrow when i see you message here , just like reading a comment article by a specialist. Any way, thank you for your advise and we do improve and we know we are not that specialized but we are always trying to be. And thank god, most of our customers are kind to us,this is a spiritual pillar
for all of our service girls. As we know, all the made-in china items are cheap and the quality is fine( i can not say perfect?? and many electronic companies are sparing no effort to satisfy the foreign customers in the aspect of quality, service, and shipping time. And sometimes we are all unlucky, when packages badly hit during the long delivery days, that is horrible.

ok, All in all, please consider our solution , anna has sent you an email and please give us your opinion

thank you

"**An ongoing drama that will be updated as it progresses**

I purchased a Tronsmart MK908 on April 26. The item has significant issues and was returned after interacting with Geekbuying about the problem. I sent the item back to geekbuying as suggested at a cost of $14.90.

I have emailed them asking about a possible replacement and asked for suggestions that would allow stereo or surround audio out from hdmi and true 1080p video while being very stable, having good performance, and 2gb+ of ram.

I waited over a week with no response so I opened a dispute with Paypal asking for a refund of the purchase price for the item ($91.98). Unfortunately Paypal does not allow asking for more than the purchase price - to cover return shipping of the item.

Geekbuying declined the refund request for the purchase price of the MK908 and instead offered a refund of $14.90 to cover the return shipping. I must now choose whether to accept this or not. If I do, then there is little hope of resolving any problems in the future through Paypal. If I do not, then I can escalate the problem through Paypal and hope to receive a refund on at least the item purchase price and potentially avoid losing $91.98.

Considering geekbuying's very slow response I am very concerned about the next move.

Also considering shipping time and irritating to customers that receive faulty products, these things should be *thoroughly* tested before sending internationally.

I like that geekbuying appears to take responsibility for updates to their tv boxes; making them available to the public on their website. But so far, my personal experience makes me wary and uncomfortable.

What is the best choice?"
