"Beware of this seller.... they are one big scam... first ASSURED me over the phone they have the product in Stock and ready to ship... then two days later " We didn't get in our shipment when were suppose to.
Right now, I need to quote June 14th for the card. "

"Gateway.com is a complete joke. I too was lured into purchasing an ATI Radeon X800 XT, that was supposedly in stock. Turns out they never had stock of the product, lied about it and then cancels my order without even telling me. I canceled an order with COMPUSA to order with Gateway and then this shit happens. No wonder Gateway is going downhill. They Customer service reps are completely clueless as well as incompitent. One word of advice for you: if you are thinking of ordering from these clowns, please have your head examined."

"This company is an absolute joke. Gateway computers is awful. Do NOT ever deal with them. They listed the ATI X800 XT PE on their website as available and in stock. Numerous people have placed orders with them, have received confirmation of their orders and even ETAs on the shipping date and now suddenly they have cancelled all orders without warning or without even notifying their customers. Disgraceful and deplorable. I would NEVER deal with this company ever again."

"I ordered an X800 XT as well, around 9:15AM, EST on June 3rd. The card was listed as IN STOCK. Ordered it and picked overnight shipping...

Received two e-mails. One order confirmation e-mail, and a second one indicating a link to check order status online; quick check shows order is pending.

June 4th, check status; order is suddenly slated to ship June 10th; okay, so they lied, and the card is not in stock. At least it'll still ship out June 10th, right?...

June 5th, check status; "Order Shipped 6/10" WHAT?!? It's June FIFTH, how can it HAVE shipped NEXT WEEK?!?! Call in to customer service...

...CSRep informs me that they no longer carry the item. No ETA on arrival of stock. No idea if it will ever arrive even. Order is on cancellation hold. I have her cancel it on the spot; what started off as a good deal on an item that's supposed to be in stock has become nothing but a HUGE sham! I asked about my charge card and she informed me that the credits are on hold but since the order is being cancelled they will be released without charging; I will check with my charge card company on Monday to verify this.

If they charged me and she lied, there is going to be WAR.

-Ed

EDIT: Just wanted to update that I got lucky, unlike many others, and it really was only a credit hold, not authorization, and nothing was actually charged. That raises them from a 0.01 to a 0.03 in my eye. So their rating of 1.04 is still FAR too high!"

"Here is the deal. I didn't even actually order it. I did order a 21" monitor from them, but when I inquired about a tablet, suddenly a few days later, it was being shipped as well. Since my wife had played with one in Bestbuy, we decided at the last moment to keep it anyhow. (STUPID, STUPID, STUIPD)Then we discovered that very same night the pen function didn't even work. Now I have to pay a 15% restock fee to return the piece of crap! Did I mention the blasted thing didn't want to shut down as well?

Tech support is now a toll number unless you pay almost $200.00 more for their Priority service. I now see that the "FAMOUS" spotted box is actually from the "Bull-Shite" exploding from their mouths on a daily basis!

When they first started out, I picked up a Gateway computer. Back then they had excellent support. Beware people. Whatever you do, no matter how decent the deal seems. DO NOT buy from this company! We talked ourselves into it and now we are paying the price."

"1. There's a 15 day return policy and 15% restocking fee. Upon opening carton, they make sure this is the first thing you see in the buyer's agreement.

2. Made and assembled in Mexico and China.

3. Out-sourced and overseas tech support. "Hello my name is Jamaji." They have support in the states too but it's all entry level.

4. Non toll free support # (long distance domestic call).

update: Gateway reinstated a toll free number for tech support. In my experience there's no answer during peak hours.

5. I wonder if they out-source customer service as well. One minute they're selling Ginsu knives the next listening to pissed off customers.

I would just go buy a system in a B.M store. At least you have 30 days to look it over with no restocking or shipping fees. I can't imagine worse service or support from Hewlett Packard or other store brands.

good luck,

p.s.

If you do buy a Gateway system I would advise that you purchase the onsite warranty. Otherwise, you'll have to ship it back for service (I'm on my third motherboard). Also, in my experience, they require you to trouble shoot the computer before sending out a tech with replacement parts. This could involve anything from unplugging the power cord to removing all components from the motherboard. In my experience, the tech just installs the part while the user continues to trouble shoot with Gateway tech support if required.

Bottom line.. There's a 15 day and 15% restocking fee stipulated in their insane buyer's agreement. The computer is imported. Tech support is sub-contracted and customer service doesn't seem to go much beyond other than directing your phone call. If you haven't purchased a Gateway since the 90's expect a whole different experience in 2006.

"You all will soon realize that Gateway is not customer service focused. After spending 1 hour and 13 minutes on the phone I reached the highest level for customer contact. You all will find, its the 3rd level. So after going through Steve(each customer service mail is a man of Indian decent named Steve) he finally passed me onto Benny. Benny was very helpful and quickly passed me onto Tim.

Tim was the the gentlemen at level 3. He told me that all he could do was provide shipping to thier repair center for my veryyy slow processor which was purchased less then 5 months ago. And as many of you all understand, going without a computer is not an option for work, even if it it to be repaired. After asking him what he would recommend I should do next time, he advised me to buy a small back-up computer for times like this. I was rather shocked that I was told to buy another computer to back up mine which was less then 6 months old. They will not provide a temporary, express service on repair, or a new unit.

After being on the phone for 1 hour 26 minutes, I was told there is no way to contact any other level and no way of assuring my complaint with the policy would be viewed. He simply told me that this was the only option and he then later disconnected our call a few minutes later.

Our family has always been a fan of Gateway products and their affordability. Unfortunately, when faced with a problem the customer service policy of Gateway is not to help re-occurring customers. After this we will unfortunately have to more to another product line such as Dell or Apple because for us it is not realistic to by an alternate computer to backup your existing/new Gateway.

Sorry Gateway but you just lost a lot of future products.

"Gateway cancelled my $440 order without my knowledge, and I would have never found out about the cancellation had I not initiated contact regarding my order.

Customer service reps and supervisors were not informed about the product. I was told the item was "in stock," and it was not. I was told my item would ship, it did not.

I would never even consider buying anything from Gateway."

"I have to say Gateway has provided me with a customer service low I have never before experienced.

BACKGROUND:

So I ordered the ATI RADEON 9800 PRO from them via the phone, and was confirmed that my order would arrive on or before the 15th. Gateway's policy (confirmed by a CSR) was that they would not bill my credit card until my order was shipped.

Well today is the 14th, and I still have no confirmation e-mail, no receipt, no tracking number, and my credit card statement was not billed.

So I call up GateWay and their automated phone service tells me that they cannot process my order and simply hang up on me. Then I decide to talk to a representative (two of them in fact) and they both tell me that my product is out of stock and will ship in the future (which is not defined). I call up my original CSR and he tells me that it will most definately be here by the 15th and that I will be e-mailed a tracking number. I have gotten nothing.

I chat with the live customer service via www.gateway.com and they are just as rude as the automated telephone service. They simply tell me to use the telephone service and leave me hanging there.

NEVER AGAIN GATEWAY. I will NEVER buy from such a horrible, untrustworthy, deceiving company again. No wonder GateWay has a "
