"In the middle of May I decided to purchase a GF4 Ti4400 from FTI Computer. The purchase was placed using a friend's credit card, so the shipping and billing address were different. They called and were unable to confirm the order, so on several occasions we unsuccessfully called the company before we were finally able to contact them and confirm the order.

That is when the waiting began. I checked the online order status daily and every time received the "in progress" status. After a week I tried calling the company, and was placed on hold for half an hour before I got tired of paying long distance and hung up. A later attempt yielded the same result.

At long last, I received an email from UPS on June 6th saying that the scheduled delivery was 6/10. Granted, there was an initial delay of several days due to the need to confirm the order, but it took them THREE FULL WEEKS to process and ship the order. I was unable to find out at any time during this period whether the product was on back order or out of stock, but I do know that the website claimed that it was in stock when I received it.

The video card itself was well-packaged when it arrived and was the correct item, but the delay was unacceptable. I cannot recommend this company to others."

"same as
01/26/03 4:51 PM and I quote:

"As was the case with someone else who posted earlier, I ordered an OEM ATI Radeon 9700 Pro from FTIcomputer.com. I thought I was ordering a card clocked at standard speed (325/310). What I got was something clocked at around 297/267. That wasn't what I wanted, of course."
Yes, it had Infineon 3.3 or 3.6ns mem modules that doesn't allow speed of 325...

only that I confronted them and required a full refund including s/h. They agreed to do that. They got the card on 02/24/03, promised to issue a refund by the end of the Feb. Come 03/10/03 there was no refund so I called them and they refunded me on 03/14/03 WITHOUT s/h. I called them back and they stated it was properly clocked! I disputed the diff with my CC company and filed BBB complained.

"I bought an Intel PC Deluxe Webcam from these guys. They had the best price on pricewatch. I ordered 2nd day shipping but the rates were through the roof, even for standard shipping ($11 and some change for standard). I figured the low cost of the camera balanced out the high shipping rates so I followed through with the order. They didn't ship right away, but I did get it after a few days in good condition. The order status on their website still says "processing" to this day even though I recieved it a few weeks ago. Don't expect it to ever get updated."

"Thought the ChainTech GeForce 4 TI 4200 I was getting was a good deal. Boy was I wrong. The card came dead on arrival. I had to pay an additional $10.00 to send it back. During the time it took them to get things sorted the price of the card dropped an additional $2.00 so that was ultimately $12.00 lost. The cost of which I could have originally just gone to a local store and gotten the next card up and saved about a months time."

"Well I know many people would be compelled to post reviews only when they had an axe to grind, myself included, so I thought I'd give credit where due: FTIcomputer is outstanding among discount computer e-tailers.

In my years of Pricewatch searching I've become more interested in finding reliable sellers than the absolute lowest price, for the simple fact that it's not worth the money: get a bad customer service on a defective item and you'll get screwed (read: compubuzz.com, axiontech.com), but I said I wouldn't grind the axe....

I've ordered from FTIComputer four times, three for parts used in my freelance computer consulting work. They've never let me down with delayed shipments or defective products. Their prices are great. They have many good items, if not everything bleeding edge, everything you need. They ship from the East coast so it's faster getting stuff ground to my Southern address than the Californian shops.

FTIComputer has been in business for over 10 years. Need I say more? Just giving credit where due. - WLG

"After much shopping around, I decided to order an ATI Radeon 9700 pro from these guys, since they had the lowest price. What they failed to mention was that the card in question was significantly underclocked (compared to every other oem radeon 9700 pro board). I found this out the day after I ordered it, but I was prepared to live with it, since it was still a fast card.

My trouble began when the card arrived DOA. I called their RMA dept and asked for a cross ship, which they agreed to. Two weeks later, I called to check on the status only to find out they never shipped it. So, I ended up sending the DOA card back to them for a refund. And guess what they refunded? Just the price of the card, not even the original shipping charges!

So, it cost me darn near $20 and several weeks' worth of time just for me to test a DOA card for them. Thanks a lot FTI, you'll never see me again!"
