"I have a pair of Armani 513 frames - a relatively large rectangular plastic frame. After a lengthy process of culling the internet, I settled on having Eyeglass Lens Direct make my lenses. If one takes the time to educate oneself on different lens materials, and know what the numbers on their lens prescription means, then the ELD website offers a vast selection of lens options. Quite extensive were my choices, and I chose the Single Vision Polycarbonate Essilor 360, w/ the Crizal Sapphire coating. Steve Villani, the owner, shepherded my order thru the process quickly, and was very prompt in replying to my emails of concern. The hardest thing I had to do was mail him my frames - it's a smooth process. I'd not hesitate to use Eyeglass Lens Direct again, for you get a great set of spot on lenses for a fantastic price. Top notch!"

"This is my 3rd lens prescription I had done at EyeglassLensDirect. I sent in the PD this time, and
used a pair of 4 year old glasses which had the same
PD as well as frames I have used for about 5 years.
I'm not sure how the problem I had with far sighted reading
was fixed but for whatever reason I am very happy with the glasses and a drop in the price of Varilux Physio Hi Index 1.74 saved me $81 "

"The glasses I received from Eyeglass Lens Direct weren't made correctly. If I really strained, I could see properly, but I couldn't do that for very long or I'd get a headache. If I didn't strain, I couldn't see properly and that eventually gave me a headache too. After a few days of this I had my new glasses measured. Much to my dismay, the PD was 3.5 mm narrower than my prescription. (By Eyeglass Lens Direct's own admission, the margin of error for my prescription is only 2 mm.)

At Eyeglass Lens Direct's request, I sent the glasses back at my expense. When I asked for an explanation of what was wrong, the owner changed his story and contradicted himself three times. Then he stopped responding to my emails. At this point, I discovered the biggest problem: Eyeglass Lens Direct is a one-man show. There's no customer service department or supervisor to ask for. It's just one guy.

I filed a claim with PayPal. I sent in a letter from my doctor and won the claim. I got the money back for the lenses, but Eyeglass Lens Direct never returned my frames."

"Over the last couple of years I had Steve Villani fit lenses for two v.different and quite specialized frames with hi-index and special cuts (ie. for an antique golden rimless pair and for a designer i.c.Berlin, a very large unusual frame) with great care and very good results!.
There was excellent patient and cordial communication to make sure all the specifications were satisfactory met.
The price offered is excellent for high end products ; and the in the one case I needed a warranty policy applied it was respected immediately no issues and no questions asked ( i.e I has a top quality Crizal coating not meeting expectations that I returned few months later)
You may have to wait few days longer than your regular optician which is something you may want to take into account but you do get quality, unbeatable price and good service in exchange.
I just sent him another frame for another family member..."

"My glasses did not turn out good, or great: they turned out superior to every other product out there in every aspect. At an eyeglass store (walmart, pearle) these lenses would cost well over $250 so I was faced with a quandary: get cheap lens at $110 at a large chain or give a small business a shot and get top-of-the-line for the same exact price.

Boy was I glad.


I sent new frames out to them (located in TX) on 2/28, got word that they were received on 3/5, they were sent out on 3/18 and I received them back on 3/21. If you're willing to wait just a little for a high-quality, well-crafted product you'll feel comfortable wearing again and again, then look no further. It's a low-price, low-overhead small (mail-order) business that takes such a high level of pride in what they do. If you know your prescription and are a discerning glasses-wearer, then eyeglass Lens direct is where your business should be.

Also, there's a guy on complaints board who is the lone complaint. Just know: he didn't know exactly how to enter his prescription correctly. Unfortunately for him, the website states that it's not the company's fault if you can't enter your prescription right. Satisfaction guaranteed ON THE PRODUCT YOU ORDERED... Sucks for him...

"I had an excellent experience with this company. I ordered frames from a discount frame shop but they did not provide a selection of lenses, instead they had their house brand or a name brand that wasn't specified. I went with eyeglasslensdirect in order to get a choice of quality/price. They were fast and even helped me later for a scratch warranty claim. I would definitely purchases lenses from them again."

"This company is AWESOME! I ordered lenses to be fitted to an existing frame which I'd mailed to them based on a recent prescription from Nationwide. The left lens turned out to be too strong. The rep from Eyeglass Lens Direct worked with me over a period of weeks by email to get the problem solved. Their communication is excellent and their service is great. I've now sent them another pair of glasses to have new lenses installed, and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again in the future. Two thumbs up!"
