"I bought a very inexpensive vest from EMS. The shipping was free, it arrived promptly and was exactly what I wanted, HOWEVER, they have some partnership with Shop Runner where they charge you a $79 membership fee after a month. I was NOT aware of this when I saw the charge on my account. Be careful when using EMS because had I not noticed the charge, I would not know to ask for a refund."
"They had a steeply discounted tent online that was in stock. I bought it but later received an email that the item was out of stock and that they were not likely to get it back into stock. I responded and asked if I would be able to get the same price if the item was restocked. They then responded that they searched all of their stores and found it in stock in New York and put it on hold for me for the same price. I called the store and had it shipped to me free shipping for the original price they had online. What a great company! How many companies would go through all that work for one item. Very few."
"I'm not sure if they had a change in management or business model, but they have been extremely helpful and honored the Cyber Monday deal I saw online.Also, I ordered a size too small for rock climbing shoes and they offered to send me new ones at the original price and no shipping charge. "Before buying from the online store, I was a bit of hesitant because of all the bad reviews. Eventually, I was willing to risk it because they had a 30% off on backpacks and I got a north face in the color I wanted. Not only was it reasonably priced but it was instock while OTHER trusted sites were out of stock. I ordered my backpack and it came on time. In fact, it came today and school starts for me tomorrow so it was perfect. Shipping was free and I got tracking so I knew that it was coming on time.I'm hoping that maybe ems.com has changed their ways since other people complained that they haven't stood by their promotions, because my bill still included the discount and free shipping.Overall, I would say I had a good experience with ems.com . I'm likely to buy again! :)"
"Cancelled my order because the item I ordered was "unavailable." Yet, the item is still available to order via their website. I understand cancelling orders because things go out of stock. I even understand cancelling to prevent the abuse of a promo. Just don't lie and say things are unavailable or because a code is invalid when it was on your website. Be honest and call it what it is...a mistake.Oh, and don't needlessly hold my payment for a whole week after you already cancel my order."
"Don't buy anything from these scammers. I placed my order in and waited for a week for them to ship it out. They never shipped my order while already taking my money. When I called their customer service line, I was treated to a very rude and unprofessional individual who said that my order was invalided for using a promo they had on their front page of their site. In the end I had to go to my bank to reverse the charges on my credit card. Buy from rei.com or amazon.com, you'll get better service and lower prices, and no headaches."
"Poor Poor company. They did not honor their promotion for their own coupon. I used the coupon twice over two days as outlined in their email that they sent to my personal email. I have shopped local at their stores and will now bypass the store to head to the competition. From the looks of it they probably have their own employees posting positive comments on this site now. That is truly sad if a company has to stoop that low to make it look like they are actually giving good customer service. I have enjoyed shopping in store there but will no longer even care to give my money to any thing this company has to do with. They will not be around much longer running the business like this."

Their prices can be high at times, but they always have great deals on their site, as well as for their email list. I recently received an email offer for $10 off $10 and I was able to get a 2 pair pack of EMS brand wool socks for $6!Don't be discouraged by the flood of negative reviews for orders placed on July 3rd and 4th. The email only $10 off $10 coupon link was posted on a popular site where thousands tried to take advantage of a code that was not meant for them. These people were only looking for freebies and $10 handouts.I confirmed with a few friends who received the email directly, that they were able to take advantage of this offer directly.Join their email list if you want to take advantage of their great deals."

"These guys are outright awful. I was told a pair of rock climbing shoes were on order THREE months ago, I wait THREE months, the store never received them. I call again, I'm told by a rep that they don't special order. I'm then put on hold, the rep returns to say that they can do a special order which would begin this whole process over again. This review will remain until this issue is resolved. Straight-up BS!"
