"One call to DIY Lettering representative Goshen Holmes resolved any lingering questions I had about ordering a reflective white background under black text lettering and netted me some super hints about installing a longer horizontal layout. I put my short 15” layout on the boat perfectly, but didn’t slit the longer 28” layout sufficiently. As a result, the first two letters were very slightly wrinkled. My port side layout went on the boat perfectly and looked even better than I had envisioned when I placed the order.
The decals were for a 1997 Alumacraft fishing boat, so I wasn’t too concerned about perfect execution. I reported my results to Goshen, who offered to send me a new of letters to replace my boo-boo free of charge and told me how to remove my errors completely by using a hair dryer to heat the vinyl.
A short time later, I received not one, but two replacement layouts. Talk about great customer service! I’m happy to report that the now-expert installer, the guy with one unsuccessful attempt already under his belt, was able to achieve unflawed stardom on the starboard side.
