You are absolutely correct in your assertion that out of stock products should be listed as such and this is normally the case. In this particular instance however, an error in the inventory count for this item caused us to list it as being available when in fact it wasn't. Also, this item should have been available last week, but when inventory did not arrive on schedule we were informed that it is on backorder with the manufacturer. The current estimated availability for this item is three weeks. We definitely should have done a better job of keeping you informed of these developments.
We do understand that you may not be able to wait this long. As we had previously stated to you in the out-of-stock email notification that you should have received, you may opt to keep this order on hold for the time being or you may cancel at any time. Once this item is in stock, we will notify you prior to shipping.
Once again, please accept our apologies.”
