"I bought a Nikon Cool Pix from this company. Had the same experience as other customers. I ended up paying even more than the competitors but the camera wouldn't work without the battery and the insurance I didn't even authorize. Here it is 2 months later and the camera doesn't work at all. There is no one to contact. Where do I take this? Can we get these guys for some sore of fraud?"

"They are really horrible people. They wont give the price as they listed in Price. soon after order they wont respond you, when we call they will ask for insurance or will say there is no battery for the camera, which costs you more than the competitors site., When we say no to insurance and battery they just cancel our order., we miss the price (where we r able to get the same price in other sites as Independence day offer) as well as time waste. they just block our phone no., so if we try for hours just engage sound..(but able to call with different no.)..I just recommend others not to buy anything from this site even though you get for 50% less also dont buy from this site., the other 50% they will charge you as insurance, battery., No proper response from customer care... even they wont hear our complete words, just they disconnect the phone.."

"6-2011 I made an order and got a price, gave my credit card and got a confirmation.
They then e-mailed that they needed to talk to me to ship the item. Then they said that I didn't order a battery (which comes in the box!)... It was an additional $80.
I happen to have a battery !!! So I said that I don't want it.. they said fine... but then there is an additional $45.00 charge for Shipping and Handling !!! These guys should be shut down... This is Fraud and totally a dishonest company."

"How did I get suckered!?? I'm usually smarter than this. Same as everyone else, if you don't pay extra, they will take out the batteries from the camera that the manufacturer packed in the box and give you something else. This is sooooo wrong. It's called bait & Switch. Tweet & facebook it to everyone! That's what I did!

To top it off, they charge a 15% restocking fee if you don't like their scam!!"

"On 1 June 2011, I ordered two Nikon Coolpix L110's in Red @ $155 each from DigitalElect.com (Corporate name - Crazy Camera Deals).

I received a call the afternoon of 7 June to say that the red ones are not available (even though the website STILL says they are in stock!) - - so I must settle for the black ones.

Next I am told I must pay $66.50 EXTRA for the firmware for each camera in order to make them useable. That is like selling a car and then charging extra for the steering wheel in order to drive it!! No one else in the industry does that - Firmware is factory-installed and is included in the price of the item (I am an electronics technician, specializing in camcorders, digital cameras, and high-end audio). Firmware is usually pre-loaded into the microprocessor before it is mounted on the circuit board (in the L110, the firmware version is 1.3). As a factory authorized warranty technician, I have replaced many microprocessors due to corrupt data in the firmware, and I have also loaded upgrade firmware into many units (all covered by the manufacturer's warranty!!).

At the very least, if they are going to charge extra for the firmware, they should say so on the camera's website page (just as they inform buyers that the memory card is not supplied by the manufacturer). They do not mention it until a week later with a phone call. They say if I do not purchase the firmware, the cameras will not work.

Their standard shipping policy states 1 or 2 business days for processing - they took 12 days over two weekends (I placed the order on June1 - they shipped on June 16). Total processing time turned out to be half a month! The package finally arrived on 20 June. The cameras contained standard FACTORY INSTALLED firmware - - the extra charge was a scam."

"Can you say "BAIT AND SWITCH"? These guys have a one star rating and that's probably generous, if my experience is typical. I'm only sorry I didn't see their rating before I dealt with them. They advertise great prices. The Nikon D3100 I ordered was priced $200.00 below the Wal-Mart price for the camera. That sounds good enough, but they will not process your order until you have bought the software and the extra warranty and the way too expensive batteries and the outlandishly priced SD Cards. Heavy-handed. Dishonest. Totally NOT concerned with customer service. If that's what you want, give them a try. If not, take your business somewhere else.

"SCAM ARTISTS!!! I ordered a $400 camera from them a week ago. When I called to check the status of my order I was informed that 1) the camera only comes with a one time use 20 minute battery and 2) the camera does not come with any firmware that allows you to turn the camera on!! I told the man to cancel it right away to which he replied "OK" and promply hung up. THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS!!!!!!!!!"

"Do not do business with these guys, they are professional scam artists and liars. They told me the camera that I ordered had shipped on three differant dates. It still has not shipped. When I checked the return policy, because I wanted to cancel the order, I found that they will charge a minimum restock fee of 15% and 25% on accessories, meaning with shipping, handling and restocking fees they stand to make a easy $200 for doing nothing off of me. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS BUNCH, THEY WILL TAKE YOU TO THE CLEANERS. I just received a call from Digital and they were not happy with the email I sent. They have agreed to pull the order and charge me no restocking fee, but the are going to charge me with shipping and handling. $59 I will be lucky if this is all that they charge me, they were not happy about this, but then neither am I, I will go to Walmart and pay the extra just to have it in my hands when I leave the store.
Well, it just seems to get worse with these guys. I got an email from them today and they have told me that I will have to pay a restocking fee for cancelling the order. I have called my bank and they are going to challenge the charge, but I suspect that these guys have done this many times in the past and this was one of their original intentions in the first place. This could be a very costly lesson for me. DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE, YOU WILL GET BURNED!"

"This Online Store is the Worst I have ever done buisness with, I had the worst experience with them lying to me, over charging me, telling me I was getting something more than I was, telling me I needed to buy special batteries, etc, etc. I will never do buisness with them again and I will spend the rest of my life telling everyone I know or see about the horrible experience. I know they sold me a camera that was not new, I only hope it works for a year, I am so glad to be done with them. "

"DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! I ordered the Canon S95 for $309 + $15 shipping, seemed like a bargain. Then 2 business days later I got an e-mail asking me to confirm my order. I called in, and the guy started trying to sell me a battery for $60 saying that the camera only came with a one-time use one, and a bunch of other crap. After he was done trying to sell me crap, he said the order came out to $362 - apparently there was mandatory $40 insurance on shipping. I canceled my order and will be watching my credit card statements very closely. "

"I was almost the sucker. My wife, who was shopping for the camera, had that strange feeling and was hesitent to order. I thought "Don't worry about. It looks legit." 16 credit card digits later and we got the deal of a lifetime for a Nikon DSLR3100 with all of the whistles and bells thanks to an "extended" weekend sale.
The story that follows is the same as all of these posts here - email from them to complete the order, the rude service, the upgrades, the battery that lasts only 15 minutes, the 9% insurance and the "must have" cd-rom for an additional $60. I told him I want nothing extra as I already have an identical camera with all of the accessories. That didn't fly over very well as the order was immediately cancelled and the call terminated.
Then I got nervous when I started getting phone calls from an unknown number. No voicemails were left. I traced the calls to New Jersey and deduced (unconfirmed) that they were coming from DE. I had my wife run to the bank and cancel her card immediately. I have been watching my bank account ever since.
Lesson learned: do a little checking online about the company before you buy. Duh. Had I even looked here for a second my actions would have been different."

"I have purchased many items over the internet but I have never been screwed by a company like this. I ordered a simple point and shoot lumix camera from these crooks and as many stories before me got called by there rep and said all this about the battery and sd card and and said I would be wise to upgrade. The camera came in with original battery and charger but my upgrade cost me over $200 for an extended life battery and an sd card that was not even formatted to shoot video. Called to return and the restocking fee is $90. What a joke. I have already reported to the NY BBB and am calling my creditcard company also. Should have read reviews before I was suckered. The web site says cheap that is the biggest lie. Low price was too good to be true."

"Do not buy from this company. They are nothing but crooks. Placed a order and then got a email stating they could not process without speaking to me first. Then they go in to this big spill about how I needed another battery, thats when I told him to cancel my order. Do not let these people rip you off. These people need to be shut down. How many people has this company screwed out of their money? They are a joke, DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM DIGITALELECT.COM!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"DO NOT BUY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! They are scum. I ordered a Nikon D90 from them and got a call 4 days later to "process" my order. What they don't tell you is that when you buy a camera it comes with NOTHING! They try to talk you into buying a battery because the one only last twenty min and one time only. Then you have to buy firm ware for the thing. You can't even turn the camera on! After they tried jacking the price up another $300 dollars before I could even get the camera I told them to cancel my order. They are horrible!!! "

"I ordered a camera January 1, which the website listed as "in stock". I was called and told I need to order a battery because the one It comes with is for single use only, so I ordered that too. When I called to check the status of my order they said I'd receive it by Jan 17. When I called Jan 18th they said it is on backorder and I should receive it next week. FALSE advertising to say it is in stock and it is NOT! I've been trying to get a hold of a manager to get a refund. We'll see how that works. "
