"Short and Sweet...This Company is a Disgrace to Honest Merchants everywhere. A Brand New Samsung LNT-4065F, a gift to my son for Xmas Died on 12/27..the store refused to exchange it for us, though they had them in stock.I also purchased a Bosch Stove the same day..was promised delivery on 12/21..wife took off from work to accept delivery which NEVER CAME. It was delivered the following day, and when I called them to reduce the 100.00 charge for shipping, they refused. I went to the store in person the following day and Picked up the TV myself, not trusting their delivery service for my son’s Gift.they then credited me back half of the delivery charge from the stove delivery...DOD also promised us the stove would be converted from Natural Gas to Propane by the delivery people..the deliveryman almost cried to me saying he told the shipper..DOD..he had no clue how to convert it..and was told "It's EZ" by the jerks at DOD...it took ME 2 hours to read through the instructions and convert it myself..then the LED Readout for the oven controls and temp. died.Don't even THINK about dealing with this company.I have filed a complaint, the first of Many, with the BBB. I also, at the time the TV was purchased, took out an extended warantee with Repairtech. When I contacted Repairtech to inquire the terms of the contract, and register the TV with them, the Contract # DOD provided me with was INVALID..when I called DOD they gave me a new #..when I tried the reg the NEW # they told me my # referenced a CAMERA Lens, and not a $1,400 Samsung LCD TV..DOD is "Looking Into it"..as will the Div. of consumer affairs of NJ,soon. "My order has been cancelled without notice.and they kept saying that "I DO NOT KNOW" "I DO NOT KNOW"There is no login process page on-line.User cannot edit their profile, shipping and billing address, change password..and so on.."
"I purchased a Canon Digital Rebel dSLR from Digital E-Tailer after seeing mostly favorable reviews on PriceGrabber. After purchasing I decided to check out ResellerRatings and got a little bit worried about what I saw, but the order had already been place.Sure enough, the day after I placed my order I received an e-mail from Digital E-Tailer asking that I call them immediately rearding my order. I called them all fired up and ready for a confrontation regarding accesories, warranties, etc. I entered the extension provided in the e-mail and within 30 seconds was connected to a salesperson. Much to my surprise, the person on the other end simply said that my order had been processed and would ship out that day. He also told me that I would receive an email containing a tracking number as soon as it became available. That was it. No attempt to upsell, no pressure to buy a warranty. I was a little confused as to why it was necessary for me to call just for him to tell me that my order had been processed, but nonetheless I was very relieved to not have to deal with refusing accessories and potentially being told that the item was suddenly out of stock.Just as promised I received a FedEx tracking number that afternoon, and--much to my delight--I received the camera first thing this morning. I have played with it for a couple hours and so far it seems to work perfectly, was brand new and in original packaging. I would certainly buy from this company again as I saved $250 over BestBuy on the exact same item."
"i bought a samsung DLP tv via the digital e-tailer web site on october 18th based on c-net's certification. i paid for fed-ex saver 3-5 day shipping.after placing the order online i received an email stating that the store would be closed for the next several business days and that my order would be processed when they were back in the office. this was disturbing because the office closures weren't disclosed on the web site.i waited until the offices were open and called a customer service representative to make sure my order was being processed. i was subjected to 15 minutes of disturbingly hard upsell to additional services -- the fact that i declined additional items half a dozen times had no effect on the person i was speaking to, who finally told me that unless i bought 300.00 worth of additional items (including a bulb replacement plan) that he couldn't guarantee my order would be processed until the following week. at this time i terminated my call.i received a tracking number in email the next day with instructions to use the fedex site to track my shipment. when i attempted to put the number in the fedex site it was returned as invalid -- so i read the bottom of the email i received which said that if i ordered a television that a different shipping company would be used. this was disclosed at the bottom of the mail as a footnote, after the tracking number and clear instructions to use the fedex site. the name of the alternate shipping compay was not provided, so i called digital e-tailer again and was told that the company name was seko.i tracked my shipment through the seko site but delivery estimated far exceeded any 3-5 day window -- when i called seko, they said they were unaware of a 3-5 day delivery policy and that it was an issue with the retailer for claiming those dates. when i tried to call digital e-tailer back for a refund of the preimium i paid for 3-5 day fedex service i was put on hold indefinitely and did not get my refund.my experience with this company was very disturbing across the board -- from the numerous office closures that weren't disclosed to the highly aggressive and threatening "customer service" rep who basically said my order would be held hostage unless i bought additional items to the obvious bait-and-switch on shipping, this company has demonstrated a lack of concern for customer service or honest and up-front business at every turn. "Very smooth experience. Was a little put off by ratings here, so I called them up after the order to make sure everything was fine. The merchant gave me a delivery date, which was exactly when I recieved the camera. Did not try to sell me anything else.Overall a very pleasant experience and a great price for my camera."
"I ordered a camcorder on Mar. 24th. On the 25th, I received an email asking me to call them. I never did. On the 28th I received shipping confirmation. Received order on the 30th."
"Not worth the time or effort. Seems to not want to sell anything. Placed an order online March 18th for Canon 300D. Got an email almost immediately giving me order number and saying I will get a confirmation when the order ships. Got an email on March 21st telling me to call 1-877-538-2453, Ext 247 to speak to Brian ("Thank you for your on-line purchase. We hope your shopping experience was pleasant. Please contact us regarding your online order."). After about 6 calls I finally got through to Brian, he said he will "route me to someone who will give me info about my order." After on hold for 10 minutes, someone answers then puts me on hold again. After a while, I just called up "Brian" again and explicitly cancelled the order. I'll just go someplace else, pay a bit more, and have my camera in a much shorter time."
"This place is a con! I placed an order for a Canon Optura 40 camcorder on March 19th. I was asked to contact a sales rep on Monday the 21st by email. When I contacted the sales rep, he tried to sell me some lenses as they had some rebate that I had not claimed. I declined, and he said OK, the order will be processed later today and shipped out.I checked online the next day, but there was no change to my order. I contacted their customer support and they said it was ready to ship out that day (Tuesday). When I checked the next day, Wednesday, the status of the order had gone to billing. I then got a phone message on Thursday asking me to contact their sales rep. When I called on Friday the sales rep said they were out of stock on the Optura 40 and asked I wanted to upgrade to the Optura 50. I had had enough, I cancelled my order there and then.I will not be shopping with them ever again."
"Normally I don't write reviews but since I did a lot of research before ordering from these guys I thought to write one. The sales rep who took my order was decent (not great), I needed to buy some accessories and hence they didn't push too hard for it, I ordered a Digital Camera and a Camcorder at the same time, on their website the Camera was available in stock in two colors, Silver and Black, I asked the sales rep. twice before placing an order tht whether Silver was available in stock or not, he said yes and i placed my order, minutes later got a phone call from him saying Silver is not available but black is and on their website Black was listed as more expensive than the Silver so he said he'll charge the same as Silver..I still wasn't a happy customer so he pitched in a UV Filter and upgraded my shipping to 2-Day Air. Before placing an order thru these guys I had called USAPhotoNation & Butterfly photo and their respective sales rep. were rude and USAPhotoNation is a big scam...they only provide camera for their listed price..gotta pay extra for the manufacturers included accessories !!"
"Like an idiot, i placed an order without checking their rating. The hard sell phone call came the next morning. People, when i order something with next day air, i expect it to just show up the next day, no questions asked. It turns out their website lies about what is in stock. I called every day to get a tracking number, only to be told the camera was due in that day. They gave up after a week and charged back my card. Simply terrible."
"Almot flawless experience... I researched the camera that I wanted and checked various sites for price and shipping. I found this seller to be the lowest in price with a fair, although not great, shipping rate of $15. The rating of 5 stars through CNET or wherever, told me that this was a reputable dealer with a good price. I felt confident that I made a good choice. It wasn't until AFTER I made the purchase, and was told that it would ship the next day, that I was sent this website by a family member. I read all of the negative reviews!!! He said that the reviews on the other sites are fake, not really from buyers. Needless to say, the reviews on this site, along with the terribly low ratings made me VERY nervous. I then began to wonder what the odds were that I would receive the merchandise. I quickly prepared myself for some kind of aggravation to go along with the order. After reading these reviews, I did email the seller requesting an order number just in case I had to refer to my order before it came... or if I was charged for it and it didn't come. I emailed them not once, but THREE times, never once receiving an email response from them. Then I called. I did not wait on hold for more than a few minutes. I was told that my camera was sent out as promised, and I was then provided with a FEDEX tracking number. I received the camera. Not only was it in perfect condition, brandy-new with all necessary items and USA warranty, it got to me in TWO DAYS.The bottom line... decent customer service (they HAVE TO try to sell accessories to make a profit, but there was no HARD SELL on accessories. A "no thank you" works well. ) In addition, because I was worried, at first the lack of email response bothered me a lot. But when I called and got the info, then received the camera so quickly, I have nothing at all bad to say about them. I would have liked better email communication, but that isn't enough to give them a low rating! Everything went smoothly; no problems, no snags, merchandise as expected... and I did a whole lot of worrying for nothing. Hopefully, they will get smart and fine tune their email responses. The only important thing is that I received the merchandise quickly. The wierd thing is that when I went to look at my invoice for the number to fill in this review, the invoice reads BUTTERFLY PHOTO, instead of Digitale. I guess they have a few websites under different names??"
"I placed an Internet order for a Magellan RoadMate 700 + windshield mount + dash mount on September 24. Their web site claimed all three were in stock, and made big deal that they never charged your credit card until merchandise is actually shipped. The order arrived on September 30, with the dash mount backordered. Checked their web site and it still claimed this item "in stock." And, digitaletailer charged my credit card for all three items.Tried calling the non toll-free number given on their invoice, to find out why they charged my credit card for the back ordered item when their web site made such a point of not doing this. Got a recording that their customer service department was closed for the next three days (Thurs/Fri/Saturday), then call terminated. Finally got through to digitaletailer on October 5 and cancelled the back ordered dash mount kit. They promised to post a credit to my credit card; I wonder if they will do so with the same speed they charged my card?"
"I ordered a Canon 300D on Friday July 16. Shortly after I ordered, I got an email requesting that I call to confirm my order. I called right away. They confirmed my order and told me that the expected date of delivery was Wed July 21(I paid for Ground shipping). They asked if I would like anything else and when I said no, they did not push or try to hard sell me in the least. Very friendly and polite sales person. About 2 hours later, I received an e-mail with the tracking number. On Monday July 19, surprisingly the camera arrived at my door. Apparently they sent it 2nd day Fedex instead of ground at no additional charge. Very pleasant experience and would buy from them again in a heartbeat. "
"A great experience! Already own a Pentax Optio S4 (great little digital camera, but that's another review) and wanted another for my wife. Began the online search. The really cheap prices were with etailers that had horrible reviews (bait and switch, rude sales reps, etc.) Those with great reviews had high prices. Yahoo Shopping revealed DigitaleTailer had a low price ($249 after $30 rebate) but mixed reviews on this site. Fully aware of the risks I decided to give them a try.On Sunday I placed the order. On checkout found the standard shipping was $17.90. Ouch! Total price still very good though. Submitted order. Received order confirmation email almost immediately. On Monday received call from sales rep Joey. "Here it comes,” I thought. Try to sell me accessories I don't need, tell me they're out of stock but have something even better, etc. To my delight Joey never once tried to sell me anything else, sell me the extended warranty or anything! He just thanked me for my order and confirmed my delivery information. He then asked me if I would be willing to go to Yahoo and rate them. I agreed and he said in appreciation he would upgrade shipping to 3-day select for no extra charge! Not one to give credit where credit is not due, I decided to wait for delivery before posting a review. Would delivery be timely? Packaged well? Receipt included for rebate? UPC code still on box?Package arrived on Wednesday! Sent 2nd day air! Perfect condition! Receipt and rebate form in the box!The only lingering question is whether Pentax will accept the rebate. Some reports of rebates being rejected because online vendors are not "authorized retailers". No reports of such with DigitaleTailer and I don't want to wait 6-8 weeks to post a review. So let's assume the rebate goes through. In any event, I don't hesitate to give 5 stars to this etailer and I will do business with them again!"
