"This was the worst online purchasing experience EVER. NEVER BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!! First off I was charged for items that I never recieved. When I inquired as to the missing items I was told they were on back order. I then asked for the back orders to be cancelled and my CC refunded. Needless to say, a year later and several emails back and forth with the same "we will credit your account in 4-10 business days" response I am still out $500.00 that should have NEVER been billed to my card in the first place. Add to all of this the fact that no one ever answers the phone (now disconnected) and crappy customer service. By far the WORST online company yet. I can not say it enough DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!"

"I have had many problems with Costume Hut also. I order a Darth Vader Halloween Costume for my 6 year old son on 10/20/05. I paid the rush shipping charge to have the costume delivered in 2 days. I received the costume on 11/2/05 and Halloween was already over. I had to purchase another costume for my son to wear to school for his Halloween party since it did not arrive in time. I sent them emails and made phone calls and they never responded to either.

I sent the package back to them via UPS at my own expense. They refused to accept delivery of this package even though I sent in the 15 days allowed for returns. I then had to pay an additional charge to ship the package back across the border to return to me since they refused to accept it. I disputed the charges with my credit card company and finally got the charges taken off my account.

On 3/13/06 I received an email from Kevin Grow at Costume Hut saying I had 2 weeks to return this costume since the charges were credited to my credit card. He is threatening me saying I commited an international crime of credit card fraud, mail fraud and that I stole this costume. It is not my fault that they refused to accept this package when I tried to return it. Since 3/13/06 I am still receiving many threatening emails from Kevin. Their reason for not accepting my return was that I sent the package back to them C.O.D. You can't send an international package C.O.D. so they don't have any grounds to stand on with that argument and I have receipts showing I paid the shipping.

This store needs to be shut down and no one should EVER do business with them. They also go by the name of Star Wars Costume Shop so all shoppers beware of these guys."

"Please go here and file your report: http://www.ripoffreport.com/default.asp
I am extremely upset with this company too. After ordering Sept. 29th only recieved partial order on about Oct. 26, 2005. I was told the other part was shipped and would arrive in time for Halloween. It did not. My daughter missed using the costume for several Halloween parties and Halloween. I was charged full amount. I was told I could put return to sender on box, and my account would be credited, I tried that but the post office said “NO” after package had been opened. I spent $51.02 for the costume and had to pay $14.55 to send it back to them. I was told I would be credited. On January 5, 2006 I was told again to please be patient and allow cashier 8-10 days to credit account. It is now March 6, 2006. I am out $65.57 and have nothing to show for it. After numerous unanswered emails, my last email came back as undeliverable and their phone number no longer works. I contacted the Better Business Bureau was told but this Costume Disguises is not a member strongly suggest that I call the “Office de la Protection du consommateur du Québec at 1-888-672-2556 or visit their web site for more information. If you suspect this company to be illegitimate, as I do, please contact the Phonebusters (Canadian anti-fraud call center) at 705-495-8501.” That is what I will be doing today. My email is kitkats101@hotmail.com and I want to do whatever it takes to get my money back. This company is a scam and should be out of business. I am out of patience, especially after reading everyone’s problem with this company. I will also be checking out every company online before I buy from them from now on. Please let me know if anyone has had any luck in getting this matter resolved or is taking any legal action."

"Unbelievable run around you get here. I should have known something was amiss when I ordered from Costume Disguises but got a email confirmation from Costume Hut. I ordered 5 costumes and received only 3. They billed me for the total amount and then some. I have not gotten my money back after numerous emails, telephone messages, despite their assurance in their emails to me that my credit card was refunded.
The ethics of this company disgust me and I would be more than happy to be involved in a some type of action to shut it down"

"They charged my credit card, did not deliver merchandise. When our bank reversed the charge permanently, Kevin Grow from Costume Hut began sending threatening emails to us promising to have some men visit us."

"I also placed an order with these idiots. I have received one costume I ordered for my daughter but to this date I am still waiting on my 3 year old son's costume. I sent them numerous emails and they finally replied when I made mention that I will take "further action" if I do not receive the costume or a refund. They said the costume was on backorder and will not be here in time for Halloween. They then said that my order was in fact shipped out on October 24, 2005. I have been checking my post office everyday to see if it has come in with no luck. They told me to ship the item back once I receive it and they will give me a refund. I don't think the item was even shipped out as they say it was, otherwise I would have received it by now. I phoned my credit card company and they said there is nothing they can do. I am just waiting to see what happens. They said if I don't receive it by the end of this week to let them know. I asked for a tracking number and have not heard back from them yet. I WARN people, do not do business with these idiots. I wish I knew this sooner. From now on I will do a background check when doing any online ordering.

If anyone is thinking of taking legal action or any kind of action on these clowns, please let me know and I will be right there.

My email address is gemini_gurl1969@hotmail.com"

"I also have had a terrible experience with this company. I placed an order on 9.27.05 for a Yoda Toddler Costume for my 18-month old son. On October 29th I received a Mr. Incredible costume in a size made for a 4 year old. I wish I would have been a little more suspicious as this costume was sold out everywhere on the internet. Well, I wasn't and placed the order anyways. I paid $12 for shipping to have my costume arrive on October 7th. Well October 7th came & went and no costume. I first wrote to them on October 12th asking what the status of my order was. I received a generic response that my costume was on backorder. Then I exchanged a few more e-mails making sure I would get my costume by Halloween. Well then I received an e-mail on October 18th stating that they shipped my costume. On October 29th I finally received a package from them. However, it was the Mr. Incredible costume. The least they could have did was given me a costume in the original size I ordered so my son would have had something to wear. I was so upset because I knew I would not have time to go on a quest to the stores to find another costume for my son. I wrote them on the 31st and demanded my money back. I told them I wanted the full price credited back to my credit card. I also told them I do not feel I should have to pay $12 for shipping of the wrong costume. Well then finally, today, I receive a generic message stating that their return policies "are strict" and I can either return my order for a different size, have store credit, or a cash refund minus a 25% restocking fee!!! I wrote back in complete shock and asked if they even read my e-mail. I again demanded the full amount back including shipping, told them I will not pay their "restocking fee," etc. Well, we'll see what they write back. I am like many of you and have bought numerous things off the internet before with little problems. And if I did have any sort of problem, at least I could speak to a human being and get it worked out. Not this "we're too busy, just e-mail us" garbage. I don't know if I'll ever see a refund but I am vowing to write them every day until I do. "

"I ordered my daughter a costume on 10/21/2005. I paid additional $16.87 to have the item shipped in 3 days, which they claimed would get to me by 10/25/2005. When I didn't receive the costume, I e-mailed them 10/26/2005. I rec'd a generic response that basically said they were too busy to respond and would later. I e-mailed them and called them daily up to Halloween day when I never received my little girls costume. I had to go the SAturday before halloween and buy her another costume. It was horrible, all the stores were crowded with last minute shoppers and all the good costumes were gone. She was sooo disappointed. And so was I. Every time I call Costumehut, no one answers and the voice mail is full. I have e-mailed them a dozen times at least. Can you believe today I actually received a response. After I e-mailed them to cancel my order and refund my money. They are claiming they sent the costume on Oct. 27th. Yeah right, I would have received it by now, especially if it was suppose to get to my address in 3 days. I have already reported the charge to my credit card company yesterday, who said they would remove the charge and investigate for "Services not REndered". This company needs to be shut down, it is sad for all the kids who were looking forward to their costumes and end up with the bottom of the barrel. Not only that, it give a bad name for all the legitimate business that do business on-line, after an experience like this...who wants to take another chance with an on-line store? I will definately be checking into any company i have dealings with on the net PRIOR to purchasing anything! "

"My story is the same as all the others. Ordered a Star Wars Clone Trooper costume for my six year old grandson from www.starwarscostumeshop.com (same as Costume Hut) on October 19, 2005 and web site indicated it would be delivered by October 21, 2005 since I added $16.94 extra shipping. The costume was needed for a Halloween party on the 22nd. I left the state to be with my terminally ill mother during a rather risky surgery only to receive frantic calls from my son that the costume hadn't arrived. I received an e-mail confirmation that the costume had been ordered on 10/23/05 and would be shipped (no specific date.) I've called and e-mailed, as has my son, to no avail. You can't get through on their phone lines and e-mails aren't answered. We finally located another costume at an unreasonable price of $79 with shipping for Halloween, and used an old costume for his Halloween party. I hated to spend so much, but I didn't want to disappoint a six year old child either. I'm furious that this company is still in business and am trying to resign myself to the fact that I'm out $49.30. Yes, they did manage to charge my card and the money is in their hands, never to be seen by me again I'm sure. I'll join a class action suit too (porterofme@att.net) if someone starts one. Any ideas on who we might contact in Canada for this worthless store?"

"Ordered 2 costumes on October 5th and was told I would receive them by October 20. I received an e-mail on October 19 stating that they costumes were being shipped. I received only one of the costumes on Wednesday, October 26 and have not yet received the other costume (today is Halloween). Have sent several e-mails but have received no response. My credit card was charged for the entire amount. I have reported this to my credit card company as a fraudulent transaction."

"I have the same story as everyone else. Ordered my son's costumer on September 27th. After not receiving it, I called them (voicemail box full), emailed but no response. Finally sent them an email telling them that we were going to report them. They sent one back on Oct. 20 saying that my ordered was shipped. Didn't receive it and on Oct. 28 they send me an email saying that it was back ordered! 3 Days before Halloween they tell me this and I ordered it a month before. My son is so disappointed and I'm so mad! Anyone have any suggestions on how we can bring this company down because this has to stop. "

"I ordered Halloween Costumes from this store on Oct. 8th. I paid extra to have them delivered by October 19th. It is now October 28th and I have not received them. I have called long distance 5 times and e-mailed 3 times. On October 25th they e-mailed back saying the items would arrive shortly, but did not say when they were shipped. You can not reach a human by phone, only a voice mail box that is "full". My third e-mail was finally responded to on the 28th and it said that my items were shipped on the 25th. Remember I paid to have them ARRIVE on the 19th. The only reason I received an e-mail with a ship date, I believe, is because I threatened to go to the BBB and other like organizations. They have said the costumes will arrive on Halloween, but I will be very suprised if they do. I already have four very dissappointed sons who have not had their costumes for school parties, etc. Never once in their limited correspondence have they addressed the fact that I paid to have faster shipping. Please don't reward this company by doing business with them. It is bad enough to deceive adults, but obviously many costumes are for children and it is just unthinkable how they have dissappointed who knows how many children."

"Ditto. I am calling the NH and CA Attorney General consumer fraud division, also the US DOJ. This is nuts to let them continue to have the page up and trap more people."

"THIS COMPANY IS FRADULENT - DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM!!!!!
My story is the same as all the others. I ordered a toddler yoda costume and adult princess leia costume on Sept. 27. I was so excited to find these costumes finally - they are sold out everywhere. My older son was going to be Darth Vader and my husband a Jedi knight, which we were able to find locally. They immediately charged me for the Leia costume and shipping charges. I waited 2 weeks then emailed to find out what was going on. They wrote back to say "we are pleased to inform you that your order is undergoing the verification process" I wrote back to ask what this meant and they said they were checking to see if they had my order in the correct size. ??? Told them I needed the costumes pronto and could they give me an exact date? They wrote back to say one costume was backordered but would def. be there by "the big day". I wrote and told them that I was very upset, we needed the costumes not just for "the big day" but for parties/carnivals in the preceeding weeks. I told them to overnight the costumes as soon as they got them and to tell me an exact date. Also I asked why an additional charge appeared on my card. They wrote back to say this charge was for the second costume, a Mr. Incredible. WHAT? I ordered yoda, not Mr. Incredible. I tried to call them and got the full voicemailbox only, which other people seem to get. Very fishy. I emailed and told them to call me immediately at work so we could figure out what was going on. Finally on 10/20 I got an email stating that my order had been shipped. Presumably the wrong order. I wrote again to say they needed to call me b/c it appeared they had sent the wrong package. Then today I received an email (note that a week ago they emailed me saying that my order had been shipped RUSH and would arrive in time for Halloween) saying that they were having trouble getting Princess Leia and it might not be there in time for halloween, so is there something else I would like? HA! I have put in a dispute with my credit card company and wrote costume hut a nasty email. That is the end of me wasting my time with costume hut. If anyone is really going to move forward with the class action, please contact me at cocinator@hotmail.com and I'll join in too.
I hate costume hut! All those poor children without their costumes, it makes me sick.
