"Ordered a table on December 7th, 2006. It was delivered to my door exactly 7 days later. They should communicate the order/shipping status better, but everything was as stated on their website."
"Excellent, timely service. Prompt call to confirm order. Shipped when they said they would. Arrived right on schedule. I'm very happy with the product, the price (lowest on the internet) and the service. Will definitely shop there again."
"Date ordered: 24-Feb Date Received: 04-Mar Not bad, 6 days before estimated delivery date. I ordered 3 cylindrical stainless steel flatware holders. The price was good, quality was good, the shipping was reasonable. I received email when the order was placed and when the order was processed for shipment a few days later."
"Ordered a 12 pc set of Anolon cookware with 3 bonus pcs on 12/28/09- used an online 15% off coupon which worked perfectly. The cookware was shipped direct from the manufacturer via UPS and arrived in two shipments. The first arrived 1/5/10 and the second 1/6/10. By using cooking.com and the online coupon, I save $10 and received an extra bonus pc than if I had ordered from the manufacturer direct. Would definitely buy from cooking.com again. "
"Submitted online order on Dec. 14th 2005 for "in stock" item. Item did not ship until Dec. 22nd. Status online keep saying "In Process" from Dec. 14 - Dec. 21."
"Well, I've been satisfied with this place before. Ordered repeatedly but infrequently over the years, and not been bothered. But latest order pissed me off.
Items arrived fine and were shipped in reasonable time. Problem is they spam you. On the order form is a checkbox for 'do you want to receive updates', as is typical. Made sure it was unchecked. Got my order confirmation, a shipping notification, all fine. But then about a week after the order got a "thanks for your order" email which was a not-very thinly disguised ad, as it was titled "here's some more things you might want!". Clicking on the linkies for 'updating your newsletter preferences' verified that none of the boxes were checked - in other words, I wasn't subscribed to any of their advertising email newsletters, but they were still emailing me. The text at the bottom of the email said "you are receiving this because you either asked to OR BECAUSE YOU SUPPLIED US AN EMAIL ADDRESS" (paraphrased, emphasis mine). Bottom line: once they have your email, they'll use it for spam. And it wasn't the one-time 'thanks' excuse, I've received another with 'gift ideas' a week further on. So, they go into the list of internet retailers from whom I will not buy again, since they don't specifically inform you on their order form that simply supplying an email for order status also signs you up to their spam list. Too bad. Otherwise they were a nice site with good selection and reasonable pricing that I've returned to over the years for higher end culinary stuff. Obviously new management policies.
"Placed an order for "in-stock" items on 3/10/06 and it's now been over two weeks and still haven't received my order. Very slow to ship and VERY poor customer service. Buyers BEWARE!!!"
"I ordered several Avantro thermos products (over $100 worth) from Cooking.com which were "in stock" and "usually ship within 2-3 business days." An immediate confirming e-mail stated the items would ship "shortly." A week later, nothing. I e-mailed them, they e-mailed back that they requested a tracking number from the vendor but I had to wait 2 more business days just for the *request* to be processed!
I then called them and spoke to a supervisor who said Cooking.com's contract with the vendor of these items is to deliver in 7-14 business days, that "in stock" means in stock at the vendor, not Cooking.com. That means Cooking.com KNOWS it can be as late as 10 business days or even more before it even ships. But they don't give that information on their site (e.g. stating "may ship between 2-10 business days.") This is completely misleading and contradicts the implications of their site and e-mail. Furthermore, their "expected" delivery date, even now, is beyond the 7-14 business days they claim is their contract with the vendor and is only an "expected" delivery date. This means it will be literally 3 weeks after I placed the order, *if* I get it by then. They claim that the expected delivery date was displayed when I checked out, which it was not. But even if it was and somehow I missed it, (it is currently in tiny typed red letters on their website record of my order), it contradicts everything they say and imply on their site and e-mail. One of the items was for a present to take on a trip, which is not possible now.
Cooking.com would do nothing to expedite the shipping; they would not even call the vendor to ask them to at least send it out even by UPS Ground, which would have meant I could have it delivered to my trip destination and still have the present. They refused to do anything but cancel the order and they would only do that because it hadn't shipped yet! I said no because at this point to start over again with another vendor would only delay my receiving the items even further.
Given the complete unhelpfulness of the supervisor who argued that "shipped shortly" is subjective and "it could mean being shipped in 1 month"! I would NEVER order from this company again.
They say 100% satisfaction on the site, but they certainly make no effort to do so."

"I ordered a cookbook from cooking.com on February 2. It is now February 29 and still no cookbook. I called twice and got two different answers about whether and when it had been shipped. I was charged immediately after the order but still have no merchandise a month later. Customer Service said there is nothing I can do now but wait for delivery (no option to cancel). I strongly recommend against ordering anything from cooking.com unless you are willing to wait a couple of months for it with no good customer service. "
"Ordered a knife block. Shipped and arrived quickly, but as buckled and cracked and definitely unusable. Not worth dealing with customer service and shipping to return.
What I'm unhappy about: by default they add you to email and snail mail mailing lists, and sell your info to third parties. Finding a way to opt out is not easy."
