"This place is the usual scam. My story is the same as all the rest, bought a Garmin Nuvi 770 for $209, far cheaper then anyplace else. The web site said they were in stock. A few hours after placing the order, they called. When they told me they were calling about my order, my reaction was "Oh no, I have a feeling this is a scam." Clearly, the guy at the other end was use to this reaction. He said I would get my item in 3 weeks - which means it will never ship. I went onto the website and my order was listed as backordered. It was easy to cancel. My guess is, they don't want to waste their time and they are tired of disputed credit card charges, so if you are not easy to bait and switch, they just don't want to sell to you and they don't want the headache of fighting with you.

For those who don't know the drill, they have no intention of selling the products they advertise at the price they quote. If they can't upsell you, they won't sell you the merchandise, but they won't tell you that, they will just give you a 3-6 week delivery time. The item will never ship. No point in getting mad, just find someone reputable."

"This company needs to be shut down immediately!! How do they get a five star rating and an award from EveryPrice.com??? I placed an order for a Canon PowerShot SX110 Digital Camera for $109 plus ground shipping. Today I received a call from a service rep to "confirm" my order. He then started to badger me about buying accessories. I kept telling him I did not need them. He finally offered me a 4 batteries with a charger for $49.99 (the price kept getting lower), a screen protector for $9 and free shipping--so I agreed. My total should have been $168. After the call, I checked my order online and saw that I had been charged a total of $249.98!!! I kept trying to call back, getting busy signals or being put on hold for 20 minutes at time, for 1 1/2 hrs. The first time I spoke to someone, it had been 45 minutes since he called me. When I questioned the charges, he started spouting out different prices than what he quoted me, and items that I didn't even order! When I told him I just wanted to go back to my original order of the camera only, he said he couldn't do that because my order had already been processed. I told him that was a bunch of crap and that I had been trying to call him back for 45 minutes. He then said he could cancel the order but that would cost me a 24% cancellation fee!!! Do you believe this sh**!! When I told him I was not going to pay this fee, he hung up on me! Again, I kept trying to call back (another hour of busy signals and being on hold). I spoke to a "customer service" rep (different guy). I explained the entire episode. He said "Well, miss, your order was cancelled and you have been refunded". I told him I did not want to cancel, I had just wanted to change the order back. He told me I could re-order on the website again---one problem--the cost of the camera had suddenly gone up $50!! I began to lecture him about doing business ethically and not ripping people off, and he too hung up on me. I will be checking my credit card to make sure they did not charge me for anything, because I sure as hell don't believe that they won't!! It is a disgrace how these companies get away with this stuff and no one does anything about it. I will be checking this site from now on before I order online. I almost placed an order for the same camera from Camera Giants until I read the reviews on this site--thanks for saving me more aggravation!"

"Ridiculously bad!
I would never recommend anyone to buy anything from them!
Very rude assistance on the phone, if you ever get through their 1-888 number. I have tried to call them about 27 times within 2 business days and their normal business hours, and managed to talk to some really rude assistant who nearly hang up on me because i did not want to buy any additional batteries or whatever else he was annoyingly trying to "feed" me with... I had to cancel my order after wasting some time because they turned out not to have the product I ordered.. They also do not really respond to your emails, unless you start "harassing" them by bombing with your emails. REALLY BAD!!!"

"Almost a month ago (tomrrow being a month) I placed an order on CloseOutGenius.com for a new Panasonic digital camera (which cost around $280 with shipping). This company tells you that you need to call them after your order has been placed so that they can ship the item to you. In the process of calling the 800 number it was busy for nearly a week straight and then I had finally got through. Once the representative gets on the phone he tries to talk you into purchasing additional items (ex. SD memory card, battery upgrade, case, etc) so I caved and spent an extra $120 for a better battery (a free case was included).

My camera has yet to arrive, so I placed a call to the company once again today. The representative (I believe the same person) told me that my camera had been lost in the shipping process and the camera has been discontinued, and that for an extra $50 he could send me a better one. So first off he could have had the decency to notify me about the camera issue and now he wants me to pay more money for a “better” version of the camera. I refused to pay his $50 so then he offered me $30 and finally I was just like “can I just get my money back” and then he said “hold on; let me talk to my supervisor”. Also he had the nerve to ask me that “you must be a hard working woman, what do you do for a living? Real Estate, Car Dealer…?” ok…that’s taking things a bit too personally for my taste. After his 1 minute of hold time as he claimed to talk to his Supervisor he told me he’ll ship out the camera free (okay so we went from $50 to $30 to Free…hmm).

So he now claims I’ll get a tracking number sent to my e-mail tomorrow and if not…I’m going to call him again. I’m supposed to get this camera within 5 days (better be in my hands by next Wednesday) according to the representative. I bet once this camera does arrive, if at all…it’ll probably be a piece of junk and I’ll have to send it back or something, only to get the run around again. Worst case scenario…I call my bank and tell them they stole my money (they’re good about online ordeals). Maybe I should have told the representative that I’m a cop or FBI (not really of course, lol) and I don’t make a living by being an online thief. Why did he act like it was so hard to give me back my money anyway? It’s pretty bad that I had to repeat my zip code 3 times to him…idiot.

The next day I didn't receive an e-mail with a tracking number. Online Buyers Beware! I will never do business with them again or probably any online company that doesn't atleast use PayPal."

"I found what appeared to be the best deal on the Internet for a Garmin Nuvi 265WT. Ordered online only to get an email to call to "confirm" the purchase by phone the following day. That was an opportunity for an amateurish attempt to upsell me on accessories I did not want for three times what I could get them for elsewhere. When I would not buy the extras, the representative got short with me and hung up. Two minutes later I received an email telling me my purchase was "backordered 2-3 weeks." As others have written, I canceled the order and my credit card number. I'm not saying they would not have delivered the item I ordered, but the business scheme appears to be unethical, in my view. Beware."

"All of these lowprice stores are a scam. I tried ordering from 3 different ones and got the same runaround. Also, the invoice numbers all all similar, ending with the -W. Could they all be the same company? We need to get them off the web. Lets find out where they live. probably india."

"Ordered a Garmin Nuvi 260W online for about $100. Everything went through fine. 2 days later got an email to confirm order over the phone which seemed odd. Also, the english and grammar in the email weren't very good which was another tip off. Called to complete and was told if I wanted to 2009 version it would be $50 more, otherwise I was getting a 2007 version. Not listed anywhere on the site. I refused 4 times, then told it was on 2-3 week backorder. It is not going into the 4th week and I haven't heard anything yet. Checked My Account on the website and it is still listed as on backorder. After checking my credit card to make sure it hadn't been charged I canceled the order online.

Like most of these sites that are too good to be true, it was a complete waste of time. "

"This company is a fraud. They advertise products at a very low price, but will not sell them to you unless you couple your purchase with a "higher" margin accessory. When you order only that low priced product (like a GPS unit), they will take the order online. Then they call you back to confirm your order while trying to sell you a "higher" margin product. If you don't buy this higher margin product, they send you and e-mail stating that the product is on backorder. They will not sell you the product. Don't buy ANYTHING from this product."

"I had ordered for a sony camcorder online , and the next day i got a mail saying that I need to call a number for confirmation. The call center guy tells me that the camcorder was out of stock for 4 weeks. When I told him that it did not show anywhere on the site, he started shouting "do u want to wait or cancel" about 2-3 times. I cancelled and immediately kept the phone down."

"Buyers beware! This is a variant of the well-known bait-and-switch company All Star Camera. DO NOT under any circumstances order from this company.

I placed an order for a Canon HV20 on the company's website, since it was priced new at $299, about $150-$200 less than refurbished models. A few days later, I got an email telling me to call in to confirm my order (red flag). When I called, the "salesperson" tried very hard to sell me a spare battery for $150 or an "extended service plan" (which was probably no good) for $150. I declined, and he said my order would be arriving in 7-10 days. Almost immediately after hanging up, I got an email telling me the camera was backordered. I called to try to resolve the issue only to find they were "backordered" on all Canons and had no idea when they'd be getting more.

This is a very common scam. There never was any HV20 for $299. I canceled my credit card just to be safe. Do a google search for "All Star Camera" if you want to learn more. I am just posting to add "Closeout Genius" to the list of aliases.

Good luck!"
