"Ordered my stuff on May 1 (a Saturday) using 2-3 priority mail. It took a total of _two weeks_ from the order date to get the product to my door - unacceptable."

"My first experience with case-mod.com left me with a bad impression. Here's how it went:

2/3 (tue)- ordered fan grills that showed "in stock" on the site.

2/6 (fri)- sent inquiry as to why my order hadn't shipped.

2/8- received email saying they were out of stock, but would have more in a week. They asked if i wanted to wait or cancel. I agreed to wait.

2/10- received another email saying they'd be in stock 2/18. I again agreed to wait for them.

2/16- my bank was refunded the purchase amount. I did not request this.

3/3- received email stating that they "aren't able" to get my item in stock. Since a full month had passed at this point, I requested that my order be cancelled.

3/4- received email stating that my order had been cancelled.

3/5- received email stating that my order had shipped.

3/16- Grills arrived a few days prior to my check card being charged again, causing overdraft on my account. Luckily I was charged no bank fee due to checking/savings rollover protection, but if i'd been broke and not just voluntarily keeping my checking account low... it would have sucked.

To case-mod.com's credit, they were quick to respond to my emails and polite through the whole fiasco. They had the lowest price on my item by far, which is why I decided to keep the order I cancelled.

My advice to prospective customers is to avoid using their online ordering system. Call them to verify your item is in stock and place your order over the phone. Hopefully a real person could do a better job of determining what is and is not in stock than their website."

"Prices are good, cheaper than Newegg which I was very surprised about. The only complaint I have about them is their shipping. It took them 2 days to finally ship my package. That is just not acceptable. It would be nice if they had a rush option like Newegg to get our orders out quicker. Everything else is fine."

"This is the second time I've dealt with Case-mod.com. The first time, I had problems. My order was delayed. This was a few years ago, so I thought I'd give them another chance. That was a mistake.

I placed my order on January 19th. By the 24th, I'd heard nothing regarding the status of my order. I emailed them and they told me that it was a problem with the powersupply, and that the manufacturer would drop ship it. The rest of my order would ship that day. I told them that this was fine. By the 26th, my order still had not shipped. I emailed them once again, and my email was ignored. It did finally ship that day. I received the power supply a few days later. On 2/3 I received the rest of the parts, only to discover that 3 out of 4 of the fans I'd ordered, my ATA cable, and one of my dual green cathodes were all on backorder and didn't ship. I was never notified of this until my box showed up...missing pieces.

Successful retailers keep their customers informed of problems, they don't just ship half an order. I will NEVER do business with case-mod.com again, and will discourage anybody else I know from doing so. Had I actually been contacted and my emails answered, I would have been ok with the delay. However, if I need to go elsewhere and pay a few bucks more just to keep informed, I'll do so. "

"The first warning about this company is that THEY DO NOT PROVIDE A CONTACT PHONE NUMBER. If you call the number on the credit card statement, no one answers. This is a prime trait of a company dealing in illegal practices. What are they afraid to hide? Can you name any one retail store on the up and up that you cannot call? What are they afraid of hiding? Did all their stock, "Fall off the truck"? Do they not speak English? Are they laundering money for organized crime or something?

In the course of my order this company has not answered a single email from me. Not one. There has only been one automated update on the site telling me my order would be shipped a faster rate, but no updates as to where my order is, if the item is even in stock anymore, what's going on. Nothing. No updates, no contact, no order received.

Be extremely wary ordering from this company. No phone number is provided. Their practices smack more of a retail looking to rip off the customer than to serve them.

Update as of 1/7/08: As of this moment Case-mod has finally done something regarding my case. They have sent me a tracking number and have sent the package with next-day FedEx as their automated email said they would. My order status has now changed to shipped. The email I received is still an automated one and I have yet to receive an email from a human being replying to my emails. I will update the review further upon the receipt of equipment.

Update - 1/8/08 - The product arrived. Rather than placing the item in a larger box for shipping and sending it the seller simply slapped a label on the manufacturer's box and sent it out the door. Luckily, the original box does appear to be packaged and meant for shipping. However when I open it I find that I have been sent the wrong item! The item I ordered comes in black and silver. It clearly shows in my order that I ordered the silver, but I was instead sent the black instead. I doubt this will ever be resolved and I suppose I will simply live with the black, even though it won't really match my case anymore.

A final note. It's very sad this order went this way. The seller could have made good on this order though simple communication. Non-communication have made this company one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. With service like this, Case-mod doesn't deserve to be in business, their staff is unfit to work, and at this rate will be populating the lines at soup kitchens before long."

"Well i ordered a bunch of LED lights from this site thinking that it was great idea because it was so cheap. But everything costs something. What i saved money wise they more then made up for with agrivation. I placed my order 2 weeks ago today and did not find out that my items were on back order until days after they should have arrived at my door. I have been told 2 other time frames that the lights were suppose to be in and in both cases, what the told me was not true. The most agrivating part was that NO WHERE on thier website do they mention that they are out of this item at this time. Even at this very moment, i still have no word as to when my lights are comming and it STILL doesnt say that they are out of them on thier web site. The only reason ive put up with this garbage is becasue of the great price i got these for. I for one wont be using case-mods.com again anytime soon.

**UPDATE**
well after over 2 weeks of waiting the owner called me lastnight to basicly tell me all the reasons why this wasnt thier fault, and kept pushing that i cancel my order. What kind of business owner tries to get his customers to cancel thier orders!? Not to mention he was QUITE rude on the phone with me. I initially didnt want to cancel my order becuase of the good prices i was able to get. But now ive found another place that actaully keeps things in stock, and doesnt give thier customers one excuse after another. The owner actaully told me that because of the size of my order it "wasnt worth it" to get on thier suppliers to get the lights in. Not worth it!? If a store owner told you that your business wasnt worth it would you ever shop there again? I know i sure wouldnt. That is a really pathetic way to do business, esspecialy since they ARE out of stock, im obviously not the only person who orders them. So i just canceled my order with case-mods.com and my only regret was that i didnt find this other site sooner and avoid the WHOLE sittuation. Not to mention the recent emails i sent them went ignored till i got pissy and the owner had to call me to make excuses. This has been the WORST experiance ive ever had with ordering products online. There is no way i could recomment case-mods.com to anyone who hopes to get thier items even remotely soon. And if your items happen to be on back order (which you might not even KNOW till its too late) then GOOD LUCK getting them. Not to mention all the "policies" i was informed of over the phone that cant be found ANYWHERE on the site. Wouldnt you think that a policy stating that if an item is out of stock for 5+ days then the order is canceled automaticly would be something that a customer should know!? Case-mods.com doesnt seem to think so. Case-mods.com seems to me to be a very unproffesional business that either doesnt care, or simply cant handle as much business as they get. When something goes wrong, all they do is blame someone else, so there really is no hope of getting things done. If everything was in stock and no problems came up then it all would have probably gone smoothly, but after talking to the owner, he doesnt seem like the kind of person who can handle problems very well at all. So the second you get an email about a problem (hell i never even got THAT! What wonderful customer service...) watch out cause your in for one hell of a time dealing with these people."

"I ordered three items, including a Zalman CNPS-7000A-CU. I recieved the package only to find two of the other items in my order and not the Zalman cooler. However the accompanying order summary included listed this cooler as if this item was included in the package. My attempt to resolve this problem via e-mail was only answered a simple "Zalman currently has a shortage on this item. We will find out the estimated date of arrival and let you know shortly." Their online catalog still has this item as in-stock. 10 days past since I placed my order and i still do not know when the item will be delivered to me!"

"I ordered 3 coolermaster stacker 4-in-3 modules.
I ordered them March 18.
Though they were not listed as being out of stock,
case-mod sent me an email March 21 saying they were not in stock, but should be in stock by the end of the month. I replied to their email, asking for a discount. They did not reply to my email. I sent them another email April 2 asking for an order status. I did not get a reply. I made a negative review on resellerratings.com. I got a reply from case-mod.com asking me why I gave them a bad review. They said they got my two earlier emails, but didn't reply because they didn't have any news. They said I was already using a discount coupon, and couldn't get a price break. They claimed that they said the modules were out of stock when I ordered initially. They said they were getting some in and would be shipping in a few days and would send a tracking number.
They asked me to change my review. I didn't.
I checked back with them a few days later and found out that they had cancelled my order without letting me know. I changed my review to say no comment for everything. I contacted them and they agreed to send the order. It was shipped. It did not contain a free bonus item that they initially said they were shipping. I am now updating my review with the complete story. I will include all email correspondence with them at my site www.weasel.com. I feel they pressured me to change my review. I think it unfair of them to cancel my order without telling me. I think it unfair of them to sell an item, and later mention that it isn't in stock."

JokerF15, Case-Mod.com rep has responded

“Jeff is one of those persons who only post on resellerratings when there are negative experiences (take a look at his 2 postings). It seems, he goes into an internet purchase with a pre-determined negative expectation. C'mon, he actually updates his website with 'weasel of the month.' Nice life.

All are welcome to view the emails we sent to him (listed on his website) and come to their own conclusions. Notice the professional and complete emails we have written to him.

The truth is this: the price was too good for him to go anywhere else! Even after his order was cancelled, he had his wife call us. She literally *begged* us to re-issue the order because she and her husband had been looking for days and couldn't find the items anywhere else for less. Surely he could have purchased them elsewhere if he was so dissatisfied with our service? After all, he does have "20 years experience buying and selling on the internet." (as he wrote in an email) C'mon, buying and selling on the internet since 1986? (His website looks like it is from 1986.)

Resellerratings.com is a great tool for sellers and buyers. Unfortunately, some buyers don't understand how to use it. One shouldn't just post when something wrong happens. Jeff has been buying and selling on the internet for 20 years, but has only posted twice at resellerratings.com and both were for bad experiences he had. Moreover, a very dissatisfied (0/10) is for a company that commits fraudulent or illegal activities such as bait and switch or other scams. Not answering an email within 24 hours is not a reason to leave a 0/10. A 5/10 would have sufficed here.

Our record proves we have never committed any type of fraud or scams. Even in this case, the customer did receive his items in new, working condition in the timeframe we had mentioned to him when his order was placed. He was just mad that we wouldn't offer an additional discount after 2 discounts were already applied. Moreover, he had 2 weeks to cancel the order if he so wished, but he chose not to.”

"I placed an order early in the morning on the website for one of the highest end power supplied available, and stated in the comment section of the order that I needed the order to ship same day or I would have to cancel the order. I did this because of some comments about some long delays on order processing here on ResellerRatings.

Around noon I got a phone call from case-mod.com with them stating the the item I ordered was not available to be shipped that day. I told him that I thought the website said it was in-stock, and he replied that it was listed as being available in a day, but the shipment they were suposed to get from the manufacturer had been delayed longer so that just changed.

While I was on the phone I explained the monster system I was building, what I was needing and asked him if there were any other comparable power supplied that they had in stock, and after listing a couple I told him I'd put in a little research and try to see if I could get the power supply I wanted from some other company and call him back if I was unsuccessful.

I called a friend up to get some advice on alternative power supplies, and while I was on the phone with him the guy from case-mod.com tried calling me back 4 times until I finaly got off the phone with my friend and answered his 5th call. He said that he found another power supply that he thought would work for what I was needing. He said that it hadn't been listed on their site yet, and they just got them in. Turns out the unit was better then the one I was trying to order, and I had searched previously for anyone who carried them and couldn't find it.

I was told over the phone I'd get a tracking # via email but I never recieved one. I don't think I even got a confirmation email that my order had been placed.

The main thing is that after talking with them on the phone, they backed up what they said, got my order out that day, and I had it in my hands the next day!

I am rating this company high because of the amount of effort and persistance they sought for my business, and in the end I got what I wanted, the biggest baddest powersupply overnighted to my door within a day.

I think some areas of improvement could be the way they list out of stock items at the bottom of the product details page in red type. It is very easy to miss and asume the item is in stock. There should be some kind of noticable indication on the checkout page that an item is either in stock and available to ship or not. I think this would resolve a lot of issues with customer fulfilment expectations.

It would also be nice if they had an Add to Cart button at the top of the product details page also because it took me a while to figure out that I had to scroll 8 pages down to add the item to my cart."
