"Purchased a USB to Serial adapter for a job I was doing with my business. Spent two hours at a retail location trying to get it to work and eventually realized that it was a counterfeit product thanks to the real chip manufacturer's website (See note at end from their website www.prolific.com.tw/eng/FAQs.asp?ID=50)
I live over an hour away from the nearest store and was not able to make it back for their 7 day return period. I eventually got them to agree to take back the product by showing them the website message below, but they would only do store credit right then and there. Had nothing else I needed from them so bought an RC helicopter of all things. First time I turned it on it went straight for the sky and was only saved from oblivion by a nearby tree, 60ft up. After a fun time getting it down, called to arrange for a return on the 8th day when I would be travelling by for Easter and was told they would not accept it after the 7th day. I used to cover RMA for a two store retail computer shop in London, ON and I can't believe how little customer service these guys offer. They want to sell you something and call it quits after that, no support for defective or counterfeit products they shouldn't even be selling. The rep on the phone even told me they were getting too many of the helicopters back, no wonder the sales guy pushed it so hard.
Highly suggest you do not purchase from them and instead use NCIX (10 years of purchasing, not one bad experience), TigerDirect or NewEgg, anyone but these jokers.
I called Visa and they refunded my money out of their pocket without any fuss, so I believe they are well acquainted with their business practices and unhappy customers.
Still going to stop by their store on the 8th day with the product to try and get Visa's money back, otherwise these guys still win with their underhanded practices.
"Q Why do I get an Error Code 10 (Yellow Exclamation Mark) after I installed the latest driver? A If you are getting an Error Code 10 with a yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager after installing the latest Prolific PL-2303 driver, please contact the cable maker of your product for Prolific chip validity and support.
Prolific strongly recommend to only purchase USB-to-Serial cables from company-branded products providing technical support. It is not advisable to buy from unknown cable makers (no-brand cables) made in China.
Prolific does not manufacturer any end-product cables and will not provide direct support to end-users.
WARNING: Please be warned that counterfeit (fake) PL-2303HX (Chip Rev A) USB to Serial Controller ICs using Prolific's trademark logo, brandname, and device drivers, were being sold in the China market. Counterfeit IC products show exactly the same outside chip markings but generally are of poor quality and causes Windows driver compatibility issues (Yellow Mark Error Code 10). We issue this warning to all our customers and consumers to avoid confusion and false purchase.""
"Best on line retailer I have ordered from. Great prices, usually ship the next day, and there are helpfull people who answer the phone! Yes real people. Fantastic. My last order, a large computer case, got lost in the system. I called. It was in my office the next day. I recently tried to save a few more dollars and ordered from Direct Canada. Big mistake."
"Well I'm not sure how their online service was before but let me tell you after I read the reviews I was a bit worried. Now after having ordered I can tell you they must of changed cause their service was great. My first order from them was on Monday paid using online banking. With that said and I know online banking cause I use it often to pay for other stuff it does take a day for the full transactions/verifying the transaction. Anyhow I ordered Monday received tracking email Friday at 11am, and received my package at 4:30pm same day.
This is great service based on other online purchases from other stores like futureshop. I ordered from futureshop took same amount of time 5 days.
Heck I was worried due to all the reviews I called them up on Friday morning 10am didn't have my invoice number handy (but had account number). Even with that they took their time searched the database using account number and found all my orders all within 2-3min.
As for store service I went to their store before in my area. Service was normal they didn't pester me but helped me when I needed help looking for product. Not only that they were pretty knowledgeable on their products.
All in all I enjoyed their service. My first order was 16 things in total. All came in a big box wrapped nicely with no damage. Will give review on my other two orders when they arrive.
EDIT: Also forgot to mention the 6.99 flat rate for shipping doesn't matter how much you order was a bonus. 6.99 for most except items which they tell you the shipping cost. Normally if I were to go to ups and ship the same amount I know for fact that I would pay more then 6.99
EDIT2: Well made 3 new different orders (one day found I wanted this, next forgot needed that, then realized need that). Anyhow orders came even faster orders were made Tuesday,Wednesday, Thursday. Orders all arrived next week exactly on Tuesday. So 5 business days for my Tuesday order, 4 for my wed, 3 for my Thursday. Best part is I messed up my new order ordered 1200rpm fans when i wanted the 800rpms. Well took one email with my order number and they fixed my order and refunded the difference in price without any hassle."

"Canada Computers is the most competitively priced computer store that I have found in Mississauga. However, they have horrible customer service, policies, and practises.
My only perfect experience with Canada Computers has been from buying a Soundblaster Audigy sound card and Logitech X-230 speakers. Now, onto my horrible experiences in a chronological order:
1. I bought a Radeon 9550. Problems everywhere. Black screen on start-up. The packaging/product had evident signs of it being re-sealed, yet it was resold as new. I tried to exchange/refund, but they refused to without a 15% charge since they said it had a chip on it, WHICH WAS ALREADY ON THE CARD. Anyways, 15% charge later, I returned it.
2. Couple of months later, tried them again by buying what I thought was a Radeon 9600 Pro. The salesman and product list they post in their store listed the product as a Radeon 9600 Pro. I installed it and it was working fine. However, I noticed that the performance was sub-par of a Radeno 9600 Pro. Finally, I checked the model number on the box with the model number for a 9600 Pro on the manufacturer's website and I realized that they actually sold me a Radeon 9600 Pro EZ Edition, which is actually an under-clocked, slower version of what I wanted! Wanted a refund, but no dice again. I am stuck with this thing now.
3. Bought a motherboard. Had signs of opened packaging. Installed and wouldn't POST. Had to go through hell in order to get an exchange. Finally got my exchange 3 days of frustration later and I got it to work.
Buying from Canada Computers is a real lottery. The only reason to buy from them is the price, but if you take into account of the time you waste and the 15% charge to refund their large amount of faulty products, it would more worthwhile to buy from a respectable, but more expensive store.
Also, a note, their customer service is horrible at the store in Mavis Mall in Mississauga. They are rude and will go out of their way to lie to you about how a computer works in order for you to keep a faulty product. Be warned.
One last point is that I personally witnessed one of their salesman put a video card which I returned right back for re-sale after he checked for missing parts. He did this even though I had claimed that the video card was faulty."

"Bought an Antec Lanboy was one of the first stores in southern Ontario to have this case in stock. price was good $155 before taxes and shipping was an additional 20 for UPS Standard and C.O.D. shipping was great the case showed up to my house in less then 24 hours (17 to be exact) service seemed good, they called me to confirm my order and that it would be shipped the same day. "
" Don't buy from them...I've ordered a pair of Corsair memory ram since June 15th and I've never received anything on July 1st.So I decided to cancel my order since I've got the Memory to another reseller. Now,it's been over a month,I ask to be refund on my credit card and they're holding(stealing) my money. They're always said that it was their mistake, they'll adjust it soon...Yesterday,they told me that the package has been sent after the order cancellation.I've never received anything.I've also check for any delivery confirmation and it doesn't exist.Up to date,I've lost $400.00 bucks. It's a shame that Corsair Memory recommends them as online retailer for their products...
Stay away from them if you don't want to lose your time and MONEY.I'd rather recommends Tigerdirect or Ncix for a real better customer service."
"Worst online shopping experience ever. Worst even than my experience with Chinese websites Took a week to inform me that the product which was available when I placed the order is not actually available (but they have charged me anyway). Nobody answering to calls or emails for an entire week. avoid them at any cost!!!!"
"I wish I found this site before I made my purchase with Canada Computers the other week. Would have saved myself a ton of stress! I have never dealt with such a SLOW company in my life. I ordered & paid for some computer components and received acknowledgement right away, fine. Then, 3 days go by, 4, 5, a week, then a week and half. No word, nothing. I emailed them and 24 hours later I get a reply saying, "Yes, we are processing your order". Excuse me? Processing after almost two weeks?? If I ordered this from Tiger or FutureShop or BestBuy, I would've had my stuff anywhere from 2 days to 4 days of ordering. I had ordered 2 other components from Tiger Direct the same day I placed with CC and it was delivered within a day and half!! Canada Computers may have great prices but at the cost of extremely poor customer service. I will never deal with them again!"
"Wow! I'm the guy from the previous post. I went to their MARKHAM store and WHAT A DIFFERENCE in service. They were friendly, helpful, and fast even though it was in the middle of Sunday Shopping-fest. Forget the downtown store, take the trip to the Markham Pacific Mall location if you want to get in and out fast with friendly service.
The guys at the College Street store are total jerks."

"Ordered the Logitech (920-000217) Cordless Numeric Keypad for Notebooks on September 20, 2008. Received it three business days later in a sealed brand new box as advertised. Great price, great service and great product. Would do business again with this company and already have. "
