"Calumet.co.uk worst store ever?

Bought a Sigma 10-20 Lens For Canon mount from them, they filled my address wrong, and sent the lens trough 3 different companies to deliver...which was hell to track.

Sent an email requesting a tracking number, but never received a answer..Phoned to calumet...the operator refused to give me..stating that she had to make a lot of phone calls to discover it. I phoned to the delivery company and trough my name they discovered the tacking number. I have sent 5 emails to calumet...not one single response to this day.

I highly do NOT recommend this company to any one, their customer service simply does not exist, and they don't respect their customers.

Besides this, the lens seems to have an AF issue at the wide end.

This seems unreal, but it happened, and I'm not the unluckiest guy in earth.

I plan to call their Manager soon, to complaint!"

"Web site said stock was expected June 15. Called and they said they had it in a store and would ship 2-day on Monday. Called on Wednesday, customer rep guy was helpful and said he had to investigate, took my number said he'd call back (sure, I've heard that before). He did call back in 10 minutes, said he didn't know why, but the item wasn't in NY office and did not ship -- I wouldn't be getting item today. But he had found one in the LA store and was overnighting it to me, and he had reversed the charges for shipping. When I said that wasn't necessary (just needed by the weekend), the rep said, "sir, we didn't get you the item when we said we would, it is our pleasure to refund these charges." This was 1700 EDT, item was on my front porch at 1030 the next morning. Highest marks."

"I ordered a Nikon D700 on Saturday from Calumet via amazon.com. It was in stock, USA warranty, and the price beat B&H and Adorama by $50, other reputable dealers by more. Received confirmation the same day and tracking number the next. Item arrived well packed and in flawless condition on Thursday. Not bad for free shipping! Will shop there again."

" This was my first experience ordering with Calumet Photo. My web order was not fulfilled after three days, and customer support was uncommunicative - ignoring emails. The staff could provide no information (when eventually called to cancel) as to fulfillment times or shipping delays. Also, customer service could have cared less why I was canceling, or how I could be helped, so I guess business is good! Most reviews of Calumet have been positive, and that’s how I initially gauged making a purchase. After this, I cannot endorse Calumet, and would recommend shopping elsewhere. "

"I found the seller to be quite unreliable in shipping the product I ordered. I ordered a Nikon D-7000, which was not shown on their website to be out of stock when placing my order. All of the other stores gave warning that the item was temporarily out of stock. Immediately after I ordered I received order confirmation, and then later that day I was told that my item was back ordered two to three weeks. After, about two and a half weeks I was checking on their website to see the status of my order, but the order was not there. The had adopted a new website making it impossible to see any orders made before the changeover. I entered into a customer service chat, and was told that he could not recover my order so I would have to call their customer service branch. After being put on hold for not too long, I was able to talk with a representative. He did not have good news for me though. He told me that my order would not be arriving in the 3-4 business days their website had estimated, nor would it be arriving in two to three weeks as the email telling me about the item being back ordered had said. The customer service representative told me it would be at least till the end of the year before the camera would arrive. Right now I am a photography student, I have a final portfolio due in three weeks. I will not be able to work on that project with my own camera. I have a photo shoot for a model down over Thanksgiving break that I will have to borrow a camera for, one which is of much lower quality and will reflect poorly on me as a photographer. I also have a wedding to photograph during my winter break, but I may have to cancel because the camera I ordered on the second day of November will still not be in my possession for the holidays. The same camera mind you that the Calumet Website told me was going to ship in 3-4 business days, and then 2-3 weeks, and the 2-3 months.

If you are looking to buy new equipment, and have photographic commitments in your schedule during the next year I strongly encourage you to avoid this company. Go somewhere else, because even if they are out of stock, at least they will let you know before the order is placed, and they won't misguide you about the expected shipping date later on. I am going to try to cancel my order and find another vendor who can deliver the merchandise before I miss all of my photography commitments. "

"Just a warning to everyone be wary of dealing with Calumet Photographic. I purchased a defective Sony Alpha 100 DSLR camera from them and they gave me the run around several times before refusing to exchange the camera altogethor.

I first called them to try and troubleshoot the problem the guy said he couldn't find a manual and that I should calll Sony and that if they confirm the camera was defective he would get another camera out to me. He gave me the wrong number but the number did connect me to a Sony person who then gave me the correct number to call so once I got a hold of them they ran me through resetting the camera etc.. before eventually telling me that it was defective and giving me a confirmation number. I said thanks very much called Calumet back and this time the person I spoke with was unavailable and the new person told me that they were not allowed to take returns on Sony cameras, they said it was Sony's rule not theirs and they couldn't help me I would have to send it to Sony for repair.

So now I call Sony back and I ask them what the deal is with this and they tell me that they will repair the camera no problems it will be around 10 days turnaround but that if the store I bought the camera from has a return policy that they should just ship me out a replacement. Wow I think to myself was Calumet lying to me?

I get back on the phone to Calumet, talk to another new person this time and they tell me no problem as long as Sony confirmed the camera was defective they would send out a replacement and for me to ship the defective one back to the store.

OK Great, I start boxing it back up to ship out and I get a call on my phone, Hi this is Calumet photo, I regret to inform you that we will be unable to replace your camera you will need to deal with Sony for repairs...

What in the world, I just bought the camera paid for express shipping and now I have to wait another 3 weeks to get it back from Sony before I can even use it?

I will not deal with Calumet Photo ever again it's bad enough that they do not stand behind the products they sell but on top of that they wasted 2 hours of my time giving me the runaround.

My apologies for ranting but I am extremely frustrated with the way this company has treated me and I would suggest looking elsewhere so you do not have to go through this same ordeal.

"I ordered a tripod last Dec. It has been back ordered. I called numberous times, the sales person always gave me different reasons or promised to call me back but they didn't. I still haven't got the tripod yet. What should I do?"

"Should have reviewed this reseller before ordering D7000 and lens from them. No wonder Calumet does not participate at reseller rating to monitor feedback, because they don't care to improve their service.

I ordered D7000 and lens in November. They charge the full amount to my credit card, and did not ship out the camera until Feb. I already told them many times not to ship out the lens since I don't have the camera to test. It turned out the lens had problem and they refuse to exchange.

I won't do business with Calumet again. They have very bad business practice and poor customer service. Go with B&H photo and Amazon for your photo equipment"

"BUYER BEWARE.....BAIT & SWITCH Company!

I Ordered & was Charged for the Canon XH-G1 with an issued Purchase Receipt. They sent an entirely different lower grade model open-box item & Calumet refuses to fulfill the order. Calumet is a Deceptive Company engaging in FRAUDULENT Business Practices. They will deny any wrongdoing as human error and offer no corrective actions. I have contacted the
Better Business Bureau about them and am
pursuing a Lawyer for Legal Action!!!

AVOID this company for ALL purchases!"

"Pathetic. I should have heeded the reviews and not ordered. Calumet simply took my money, waited a week and then emailed me that the product was no longer available and that my credit card would be refunded in a few weeks. Haven't got my money back yet.

Never again."
