"I will try to make this article short. This People in CCi Camera City shouldn't be in this business, I don’t know why our system is allowing this company to operate like this. I spoke to several people in Camera City and ordered a camera first thru the internet and then called them because the price I saw a day before is lower with the same package. The sales man told me that package is out of stock so that's why they raise up the price, and then I ordered the more expensive package in which they added a 5 year warranty and a 28-105 mm lens and then when I check out my order the following morning I was told by the other sales man the lens in my order is not 28 -105 but a lesser value 28-80mm and Ronnie offered me another lens which is made in Japan he said the one I like actually is the 18-135 nikkor lens and he said that is Plastic , this one im offering you is made in Japan he insisted and I thought it is Nikon made in Japan but its not so, later on that day I decided to pull out my order and cancel it. Then I was routed to some people then a person spoke to me name Peter he said he is the owner of that company and asking me why Im pulling out my order well I told him that I don’t like what I am experiencing right now and then he said I still have to pay the shipping and restocking fee. I will try to make my story short because this Guy Peter said things that I never heard of on a salesman, this guy shout at me, he is so rude. I decided to go along with the sales And the merchandise arrives a day late and the stuff that supposed to be there are there but the battery is not the one that they promised (long hours one) but that’s okay I will just buy a spare battery instead Ive lost some days of sleep after talking with this guy PETER he is the owner he said (I think these are not their real names I think they are just making it up), I've never been humiliated like this before, and while talking to this guy Peter, I feel like hating myself letting him to say those stuff to me but because he already have my credit card number knowing that this people have issues they might do stuff that may cause inconvenience to me. After that sales/transaction is done! I cancelled my card. I will never forget this experience and will share this to all the people I know. I just wonder who is going to stop this kind of Vendors? Does this means we are all alone in this? Are there step taken already to at least control these vendors? So this vendor CCi Camera City will still be here in years to come! Victimizing more honest living people? All I can say now is beware and read store-reviews first before giving your credit card number. AVOID CCi Camera City and beware that they may open up another store with different name, thank you and again more power to the buyers. "

"Why didn't I see this site before I placed my order for a Canon SD600!!! When I called to verify my order, I was told all I would be getting for the order price was the camera and not the bundle package that always comes with a camera. I was then talked into ordering the batteries and case. Two weeks went by and I never received the camera. I called to cancel and to my surprise was told that I could. They told me that I would see a credit in 1-3 business days. After not seeing the credit in 4 days, I called again. They told me I would see it that night. Well, I have still not seen it and now when I try to call the phone #'s, it rings and finally disconnects or the recorder plays over and over again. I am sure they have shut their doors. I have called my credit card company to check into my charge. Now after reading everyone else's blogs I am wondering if I should cancel my credit card. How can these people be in business? Why haven't they been stopped from doing internet business? I am sick about this! I order alot of things over the internet and have never been burned - this has taught me a valuable lesson to always do my homework. Has anyone seen any fraudulent charges on their account? Should I cancel my credit card? "
"I have just made the a report with the Bureau of Better Business at www.bbb.org. My complaint # is 4388381. On Monday, 10/23/06, I purchased a Canon D30 (dslr camera) body only, and one lens from www.ccicameracity.com. The camera (body only)is advertised for about 1/2 the camera (body only) charged by competitors, and the lens was about market price, I elected to buy just those items from this vendor. (On 10/23/06, my order was Canon D30 $569.00, and a Canon 17-85 lens $459, 3-day shipping $119.99). I've noticed in days since this order that the prices fluctuate dramaticly on this site, daily.
I made purchases from 5 separate vendors that day, since the accessories at CCI Camera City are marked up to as much as 9 times the cost from other vendors. The shipping was a staggering $100 for these two items, and did not list an estimated delivery date, so while it seemed pricy, I requested 3 day shipping for $120.
On the afternoon of Tuesday, 10/24/06,I checked my personal email and saw that the company was requiring me to phone them to confirm the order. I was surprised to see this email since I sometimes don't check my personal email for as long as a week and I was under the impression that the order was already confirmed online and that I was paying for express shipping.
Since it was Tuesday afternoon, I was at work, but at this point, it was already a day later, which meant that the shipment would be delayed. I called the company from my office to confirm the order. A salesperson came onto the phone and asked me for my Visa's 3-digit Security Code. When I gave him the code, he began to try to upsell my order to include additional accessories, (additional lenses, software, battery, memory card, etc.) The camera that I purchased was advertised at an amazing deal, however, I already knew that the accessories were outrageously overpriced, which is why I purchased them elsewhere, in the first place.
When I explained that I did not wish to order the additional accessories, he became very condescending and rude and asked angrily "How do you think you're going to get it to work?" I was taken back by this comment, obviously if his company was concerned about the integrity of selling the camera (body only) as a standalone product, they wouldn't sell it as a standalone product. However, I told him that I was calling to confirm the order that I'd placed online, but that I didn't wish to purchase anything in addition.
He then asked me what I was going to use the camera for. At that point I told him that it really wasn't any of his business, but could he please just send me what I had ordered. He began to yell over the phone that the comment that I'd made was rude, and kept yelling "Am I being rude to you? Am I being rude to you? Is this the way that treat people?"
After a pause, I asked "Can you just send what I've ordered?" He yelled "No! And I'm going to charge your credit card a $10,000 cancellation fee!" Obviously, this was an outrageous threat. I did not cancel my order. I simply refused to purchase anything in addition. I said, "Then, I will report you." He threatened, "I've got your credit card information, and I know how to use it." At that point, I had to hang up. I phoned my bank, immediately, and explained the situation. They closed my credit card account and they are issuing a new card (this takes 5-7 working days).
After this experience, I did a quick search on the company. What I found was chilling. There are several different sites which have already reviewed this company. There are pages of reviews, many accounting near-exact detail to what I have just described. Some have different complaints. I have not yet found another review describing threats to their credit card.
The common trick seem to be this: If found this vendor through www.froogle.com, by doing a search on the model camera that I wanted to purchase (Canon 30D). Many retailers selling this camera come up on the search. Since the buy price on the camera is lowest at CCI Camera City, Inc, this vendor is listed first on the search.
I have reported this incident to my financial institution and I plan to report it to Visa Merchant Accounts and Canon, as well. "
"This business is a complete scam operation. I placed an order for a Panasonic DVX100b camera on their site. Two days later, nothing happened so I called them up. Basically they told me that this "item" was an international item and would take 21 business days to transfer. I laughed, and told them that's insane. I got the run around and was told to call back after several line switching. I, like many others, am very disappointed and wish I had checked this site before falling for their scam. I canceled my order and was met with INSULTS. This "supervisor" literally called me names. Said something about his grandma's underpants :| Anyways... I immediately called my bank and had my account CANCELED after bidding this... "fine" gentleman a blessed day."

"SCAMMERS! UPSELLERS! Poor and rude Customer Service! I ended up paying $500 more for my order! I did cancel it and sent them back because they sent my these cheaper lower quality lenses and flash unit for an unbelievably high prices. I said No..and RONNY still tried to explain that those lenses are top of the line! what a scum! (pardon the language..got upset everytime I think of these sellers) ...anyway...DO NOT EVER BUY ANYTHING from THEM..report them to BBB or Police. if you ended up paying too much for what you were supposed to pay...dispute the difference...only pay what you've ordered + shipping. win your money back! "This is a bait and switch operation. Advertised low price on camera. Required me to call to "confirm" order. When I refused to add items to order, said would take 6 to 8 weeks to ship. I canceled order."
"NEVER ORDER FROM THIS STORE!!! I placed an order on-line with CCI Camera City for a Nikon D80 Body Only Camera. They had a very attractive price which is what lured me to their site. I received a mail from them asking me to call and confirm the order. When I called they ran through what seemed to be a standard list of questions designed to pump up the order. They first explained to me (very tersely) that the camera I ordered did not come with a Lens, Battery or Charger. I explained that I already had a lens and asked for a price for the other accessories. I told them I needed to consider the additional cost ($299) and get back to them. I called back a half hour later and explained that I wanted to proceed with the order as is. I was then informed that the product was not an American Model and would take 4-6 weeks to ship to me (despite the "available status" reported on their site and the 3-5 day shipping option which I chose when I placed the order). Whe I questioned this he became very agitated and started berating me with questions--why don't you just purchase the accessories from my store, just get the American model, etc. I explained that I preferred to buy the accessories elsewhere since I was able to find a better price. At this point the person I was speaking with became angry and told me that no one had a better price for authentic parts and said I should buy the camera from them too and hung up on me. This is a typical case of bate and switch and the response from the person working with sent me a clear message that once I was unwilling to succumb to their tactics they became uninterested in making the sale."
"WORST ONLINE EXPERIENCE, EVER. I order online all the time as my company has a variety of needs and I can say without hesitation that CCI Camera City is the worst, ever. Ordered through their site (canon 5D) and was then told on the phone that I needed the battery, documentation, and a camera in english, so the price went up (still theoretically saving money) and I was told it would be shipped last week. STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED it... DO NOT ORDER FROM CCI, period."
"COMPLETE SCAM!!! Here's how it works: They lured me in with the lowest posted price on the internet for the CANON POWERSHOT A530. A few days later a gruff voiced man with an accent called to confirm my order and tried to upsell me with over-priced accessories that boosted the price far beyond even the brick and mortar retail price (rechargeable batteries, a fire wire, a carrying case, etc.) After I insisted on buying only what I had ordered and no more, he got rude and accused me of ordering the wrong item (the “European model.”) He told me he’d have to ship mine from overseas and that it would take at least 4 weeks. Then he told me he could ship one from his store that day for about $100 more. I asked him why they advertised something on the internet that they had no intention of selling and threatened to sue him for fraud but that didn’t seem to slow him down (I guess he’d heard it all before.) Sensing that something was terribly wrong, I searched Google for “CCI Camera” and found this website. I wish I’d come here first. I called back and told them to cancel the order, emailed to confirm the cancellation and then called my credit card company to prepare them for a dispute if CCI tries to run the charge. Then I ordered the camera from Amazon like I should have done in the first place. Next time I order anything from a new vendor, I’ll be sure to stop by this website first."
"The following letter is what I filed with the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs about Camera City Inc. aka CCI. I would like to share my experience with your magazine in hopes that somehow your magazine may help prevent this type of scam from happening to it’s readers in the future. The sales clerk deceived me about my purchase. I did not get what I ordered and they refused to correct my order. I placed my order over the phone and was told that I was ordering a Nikon D70s digital camera kit with a US warranty for 699 dollars, Instead I received a grey market camera, which are products that manufacturers intend to be sold cheaply in countries other than the United States where prices are lower (due to differences in exchange rates and in what the market will bear). But instead of heading to the destination country, the gray-market goods are rerouted to the United States, which means Nikon USA won't honor a gray- market warranty in the United States. I also ordered a 4 gigabyte memory card for 189 dollars, but instead I received a 1 gigabyte memory card for 189 dollars which usually sell for around 90 dollars. During the phone order I asked the sales rep twice about the total shipping cost and both times he said that shipping was only 29 dollars, but only to find out they billed me 124 dollars for UPS standard ground shipping. All and all, along with the items mentioned the rest of the accessories I ordered were, a 4 year extended warranty for 189, a power grip for 129, and a 5hr battery for 89, so the total purchase should have been 1324 dollars, but instead they billed my credit card for 1419 dollars. On 12-2- 2005 I called Camera City Inc, and spoke to Peter about the unauthorized charge on my credit card and he said that the sales rep was quoting the 29 dollars because it was the amount in excess of their standard 6 percent shipping and handling which the rep should have made me aware of it, and that he would have a talk with him, but he could not remove the charge because it's company policy. On 12-7-05 I received my package with an invoice showing the total charges, but no break down on of individual charges. On 12-8-05 I called CCI and spoke with Ronney about the items I received and he offered to send me a US warranty for the camera, but I know it's not valid, also he offered to give me a number of unnecessary items to try a make things right, but since the camera was not a US camera and because of all the other deception so far, I opted to return the camera and all the other accessories, which Ronnie said that their company policy requires him to charge a 5 percent restocking fee. So my total charges for shipping and handling and the restocking fee is going to be 175 dollars. I contacted my credit card company which informed me that they do not dispute shipping and handling or restocking charges. I didn't realize the this type of fraud and scams are still happening to unwary consumers in this day and age, especially here in the United States. Obviously this stores scam is to make their money off the shipping and handling, plus they hope to screw your order so bad that you would return it and they can make more money on the restocking fee then turn around and make more money off the items you send back by doing the same cycle all over again to another consumer."
