Went looking for a low priced digital camera for my daughter. They showed me a Samsung sl30. They told me that it was a good price of $200 for it listed at about $320. Well after getting home and checking on the web I found it for just under $100. I worte to complain. well they called back and told me that the low price was do to it being sold over the internet and that they could never match that price. Well i've found it at that lower price at every other NYC shop that has a real store in Manhattan and an online store. I figured than their over head should be the same and I could prove him wrong. Well I was correct anywhere you look it's for $100 or just under. This includes most of the big name stores in the city.  
 
I would never go to this store again for they are untruthful. As of now they won't give me a refund. I've snet them the proof of what I just mentioned above. Will see if anythigng comes of it. Iseriously doubt that they will except my proof of the lower price.

Unfortunately, I see that I am of the numerous `ropped off` customers by this shop. I bought SANYO CG10 camcorder for 1088 $ (incl 8Go SD card) while salesman claimimg very nice discount 50% (so,from 2,000 $ original price) valid for 1 day only. I discovered that this is only value of 200 $ !! Very good tourist trapping shop as I am one comimg from France. I cannot understand why this kind of shop is still existing after so many comlaints. I thought that USA was among the best customers protecting countries with thousands of layers but it seems not. Very disappointed travel. I`ll try to recover but seeing the comments, no chance. Try to contact customer protection agency in USA (is one existing ? rather doubtful !

These people are frauds and liars.  
I went in and asked for a very specific Nikon 18-200 lens.  
The salesperson, Mr. Tito R. (most probably a fake identity too), said that due to plastic parts the lens was technically inferior to a Sigma lens he had to offer which was only slightly  
more expensive. He sold me the lens which turned out to be way inferior for triple the price. I discovered the scam when I looked up the specs of the lens in the internet the day after. I returned to the shop to return the merchandise. Mr. R. denied everything that happened the day before except having sold the lens.  
These people should be locked behind bars, because they willfully and purposefully misinform people to obtain monetary gain. I will be contacting NY authorities to have this shop prosecuted. Do not even go near this shop....

Omg!! I am so freaking mad. Never I repeat NEVER shop at this store. It is a complete SCAM. Just recently purchased a wide angle lens which I have just found out is about 4-5 times less (online) than the amount I actually paid for it. I should have known better, judging by how quickly the salesman Benny (bet that is not even his real name) managed to coerce me into purchasing the item, He had practically cashed in and bagged the item before i even said yes. I had a bad feeling about it initially, but he managed to convinced me saying the reason he was able to give it to me at such a "discounted" price was because it was a free promotional item they had received from the distributor. All potential buyers be warned, prices marked are probably immensely overpriced so sellers can fool you into thinking you're getting a really good discount.

I went to this shop for a cable.I said I would look for myself,but salesguy insisted to help and take off pricetag at $7.99 and instead try to charge $69.99.I've never seen this kind of rip-off shop in my 50-year-life.

We called 12/26/2008 because we received an email asking us to call in after placing an order 12/24/2008. We attempted to order a JVC EVERIO HD6 Video Camera.  
 
I had relatives visiting us here in the United States who were from out of country. Broadway Video advised us when we called that they did not accept overseas credit cards so I called in to use my USA card. As soon as they had my USA credit card information, the bait and switch started. I am quoting the sales rep "Oh, I have the EXACT same camera, you will love it..but you need the 2 hour, 4 hour or 6 hour battery. The battery the camera comes with is only good for 20 minutes". A HUGE RED FLAG appeared in front of my face.  
 
So we decided to get the 2 hour battery for only $69.00 more. Classic bait and switch. So I asked...is there anything else we might need? "Yes, you will also need the special battery charger for the 2 hour battery". You mean I can't charge the 2 hour battery with the camera? No, you cannot. You need the separate charger. Another $69.00, a special price if you take it with this order.  
 
That did it for me. This is bait and switch. We found the lowest price for this camera by using Pricewatch. And the danger in using Pricewatch is that all too often the lowest price is manipulated by the vendors in order to receive the highest ranking in a category.  
 
I terminated the transaction by clearly saying, rather loudly... "CANCEL THE ORDER"...."DID YOU HEAR ME... I SAID CANCEL THIS ORDER". The operator on the other end of the phone (classic New Yawk accent) "I heard ya the first time, cancel the order".  
 
If you buy from this store after reading this review you really do deserve what you get.

Oh how I wish I'd visited this page before I went into that store. They gave me a price of $1100 on a HP Mini-Note and assured me it had 2GB and was the latest top of the range, state of the art model.I didn't know that HP reccommends a store price of $499-$600 and that the notebook has only 1GB. The price quoted was $1100, but I was actually charged $1733.88! Of course I signed the credit card chit without checking the numbers. When I returned home and discovered the charge made I immediately telephoned the store and spoke with Sam Cohen who asked me to call back in 10 minutes as he needed to check the transaction on the store system. When I called back I was told he was with a customer and the guy asked me to call again in an hour. I called back in an hour and was told that Sam had 'stepped out'. By then I knew I had been cheated, as I had used the hour to search the net and found this page, with all its complaints. I have since emailed Mr Cohen but of course have had no reply. I have also filed complaints with the BBB, the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs and the Mayors Office. I have informed all of them about this page and requested they take a look at it. I await replies. It is beyond belief that this store retains a licence to trade. Perhaps if we all filed complaints, we could have their licence revoked. On the 15th October I purchased a 2GB Card for my camera, being in a hurry I didn't (foolishly) look at the cost and just signed the credit card chitty for the card. Low and behold they had sold me a $9.99 card for the price of just $169.33 they have ignored my letters, emails and faxes. So obviously not a company to deal with business with !!!!!!!!

Coming to NY for the marathon, unfortunately we were "robbed" by this shop selling us a videocamera at a triple price!

I just wanted to add, since I too ALMOST got ripped off, that Broadway Photo is a scam. I am so grateful to have found the countless (I mean hundreds, actually) of bad reviews on the internet. Without them, I wouldn't have known what to expect after I placed my order, and probably wouldn't have had the foresight to cancel my order after learning my product was on backorder (8-10 weeks people!). Now, please note that I spoke to them twice to make sure that the item I purchased was, in fact, IN STOCK...to which they told me, that yes, it was in stock. Only to get THE EMAIL stating that is was actually backordered. I promptly canceled my order, only to be hung-up on.  
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE PEOPLE...SAVE YOUR SANITY AND DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE FRAUDS (BROADWAY PHOTO - you guys suck). You might think you're saving a few pennies and getting a great deal, but all you are really buying is a bunch of headaches.

I should never have bought from a store near Times Square anyway - tourist trap. However it was late afternoon, I was tired and wasn't thinking.  
 
I was after a DSLR camera and had been for a while. I did my research on a Nikon DSLR D40x and it retailed for over $400 (body only). As I walked past Broadway Computer and Video, I noticed the D40x was for sale for $389 (body only). To cut a long story short, the "sales manager" (yeah what ever mate) said that the d40x didn't have many lens options and that they didn't have any left. He said, however, I should buy the D60 which comes with Nikon's top of the line ("$700") lens for $1100. I got the price down to $900 and he sold me a 8gb memory card for $100 and a Uv filter for $60 (Originally he had a price tag on the 8gb memory card of $389!!! - you can buy them on amazon for $20). I later learned that night that retailers were selling the d60 (lens included) for $700!  
 
The next day I went back in the store and asked how much the 8gb memory card was (just to see if they changed the prices when ever they felt like it), and the saleman said $150, I asked him how much the Nikon D40x was and he said $2000 (even though the window displayed it for $389)!!!  
 
So I didn't get ripped off as much as others, but never, never buy from Broadway Computer and Video.  
 
The camera is good though (touch wood) even though I paid a couple of hundred more than I should have.

I was ripped of aswell - it seems they enjoy doing that to tourists:( It was Independence Day when they ripped me off so they don't seem to have much respect for the USA, none of the salesman are American anyway so why would they care! A bunch of low down cheating con men who even admit they have ripped you off once they have their thieving hands on your hard earned money. They charge 5-10 x what the RRP price is and prey on tired tourists, taking advantage of their holiday spirit. How can they sleep at night? NYC must close this store down, they are ruining the cities reputation. They become rude and aggresive when confronted.  
 
I see from reading the several dissatisfied customer reviews they have been ripping people off for over 3 years!! How can they get away with it, consumer law in the UK would not let this happen but it appears no authority in NYC seems to care how the consumer is treated, they leave it to 'store policy'. IT is basically an open ticket for them to rip you off legally, it is absolutely appalling.

At first, i'd like to say i'm french, so i apologise for my way to write.  
I bought a camera this afternoon at brodway and computer video's.  
At the moment to pay my camera, the sales clerk added a 4GB SD card that he sold 199 dollars!!  
I've seen the price when he gave me the invoice.  
I wanted to retract but he said it was too late, that my credit card was already charged.  
THIEF!  
If you a tourist, don't go to this shop!

I would just like to join the club of people who has been robbed by the Broadway Computer & Video store.  
 
I went (well preparred, I thought) to buy a Sony videocamera on which I knew the price, but during the talk, the salesman asked me why not go for a videocamera that also has a good cameraeffect and thats was were I wasn't preparred. The salesman told me it was a totally new invention. It was the way ahead, he said and it was on a promotion price, normally it would cost about 1,899,- but the promotion price was 799,-. I bought the camera and later (as I came back to Denmark) I found out that I could have bought the camera in the BH store om Manhattan for 245,- (I did go to BH store, but it was closed). What was even worse, was that I could have gotten it cheaper in Denmark (about 400,-). Everything was a big fat lie and lucky Joe Ray (the salesman) that I first found out after returning to Denmark.  
 
So, if you have a fettish to be cheated and lied to and then pay a lot of money for it, then you should go to the Broadway Computer & Video store. Otherwise, DON'T EVER GO THERE!  
 
Will I go there again? Yes of course. To buy something? No, just to say hello to mr. Joe Ray.
