David, the salesperson is prompt and nice and helped me with my problem with UPS delivery. You see, UPS lost my package by delivering it to the wrong house, and I never get it. When I told David that I did not receive my package on time as promised by UPS, he immediately send me another camera on a 3 day Select.
I wasn't expecting a service like this. Now this is the kind of service anybody will appreciate from a store. This is a very nice gesture on their part. Yes...I'll buy from them again.

"Based on price comparisons from Bizrate (excluding the usual Brooklyn store fronts) I ordered a Sony DCR-DVD405 camcorder from BlueStripePhoto.com. I was quite apprehensive given the lack of reviews here on ResellerRatings and what appears to be a profileration of scammers and Brooklyn store front type outfits on the internet. Anyway, I took a chance and ordered the camcorder online.
Zoommania, by the way, had a lower price on this camcorder but their online bait and switch operation is still going - they advertise a low price on the basic camcorder but always show it as being out of stock but you can buy the accessorized version for a much higher price. I even called Zoommania's sales department and they said that they'd have the basic version in stock the following week but that never happened.
Back to BlueStripePhoto, I received a confirmation email almost immediately and a "shipped" notice with a tracking number within 24 hours. Exactly a week later it was delivered in perfect condition exactly as hoped for. Needless to say I'm very pleased."

"i bought a sony hvr-z1u from blue stripe photo because they offered it for ~$200 less than other places (b&h, etc) AND were not in new york state (where i live) and thus i was able to avoid the ~$400 in taxes i would have had to pay to buy from other online retailers who offered this video camera (they are basically ALL in nyc).
i was hesitant to order from them mainly because they seemed very new (contrary to their site's claim of having been around for 10 years or whatever). a few sites (like this one) had online reviews, but most of the positive ones kinda seemed fake, adding to my fears. however, most of the negative ones weren't too terribly negative, just stuff "this took longer than they said it would to arrive" kinds of stuff. so i took the gamble to save the ~$600.
i placed my order at 4:30pm on a wednesday. their website clearly says "orders placed after 2pm will ship the next business day" which i hoped meant it would ship thursday, but you never know with some of these places. "in stock" doesn't always even mean they have it, let alone when they'll actually ship it out, ya know.
i called my order in, because i wanted to talk to someone and gauge how legit they sounded. the guy was nice, straight forward, and didn't push hard for any b.s. "packages". he was like "do you want a package with tripod, case, filters, and stuff?" i said "no." and he said "ok." he pushed a bit harder on the 4-year extended warrantee. he said it was provided by "repair tech" (who i've never heard of before, but who's website makes it *look* like they might be as legit as the blue stripe guy implied they were. http://www.repairtek.com/ ). he lowered the price a few times, i think because i initially showed interest when i discovered it was someone other than Mack (who i've had bad experiences with in the past). in the end, since i'd never heard of them, i declined, and he moved on.
while still on the phone with him, but before my order had been placed i got an email from them thanking for me for being a customer. i was okay with that, and expected an order confirmation email as soon as i hung up. i didn't get one. hours later i still hadn't. this made me a little anxious. i didn't have anything other than his verbal account of what i'd ordered or how much i'd been charged or when it would ship (he said the next day, via ups ground (i live VERY near them) for friday, or more likely monday or tuesday delivery) or anything else.
soon after placing the order, i started getting scared. but tried to tell myself i'd wait till the end of the next day to see if it shipped before getting too antsy.
that night when i got home from dinner to my surprise i had received a shipment tracking confirmation from QuantumViewNotify@ups.com! the package had shipped that evening! i received it the next day at about 1pm. so like 20 hours between placing the order and receiving the package, shipped ground no less!
i was very pleased with the product. it was well packed for safe shipping. it was exactly what it was supposed to be (the U.S. version of the camera, with the proper accessories, warrantee and so on) and even came with a $20 tape no websites had claimed it came with! it was brand new, and in perfect shape.
boy was i relieved!
i can't vouch for anything else about blue stripe, but in my case i feel like i got awesome service for a great price. if you live outside of new york state, you can order from a lot of places and avoid paying high tax on expensive pro gear like the hvr-z1u. but blue stripe was less expensive than any other place i deemed "legit enough to try" AND they weren't in ny, which was really great for me.
BOTTOM LINE: they sent me just what i wanted, for the best price i could find, much more rapidly than i expected. they win.
